Some of the hdr was great, especially during the lovemaking scene in front of the car’s headlights
GREAT film and it’s recent release on Criterion has me all kinds of giddy. I think this is one example where an upgrade in quality certainly makes the story and intent seem clearer to me. As an established Lynch fan who’s always been a bit hot and cold on this film, I found my viewing of the 4K disc revelatory and I really dug it. Might end up being one of my faves of his now. Hope Inland Empire follows soon !!!
Great review, will probably pick this up next month during the sale. Funnily just came here from Lynch’s weather report and number. If any of you don’t watch those I highly recommend you do. He uploads every single day
I saw this movie in the theater many times. One thing that stands out in my memory is that you couldn't see a thing in the dark hallway scene and it was scary as hell. I'm definitely going to pick this up on 4K.

Since this is one of the couple of Lynch films I hadn't seen I purchased a cheap DVD to avoid a blind buy prior to the 4K release. So yes, my 4K copy is on the way from Criterion.

Thank you for the coverage on this. Recently watched for the first time from the 4k restoration and am always curious what someone with better eyes than me thinks of the transfer.
Awesome. One of my favorite movies of all time. The black crush is intentional I think.. it's a dark and deeply mysterious film and I think contrast was intentionally amped up in some scenes.

@@breadordecide Well they can but most go all over the place. But hey everyone has there preferences. I personally prefer Lost Highway and Elephant Man over Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, and Mulholland Drive.
@@travelinman i’d argue that blue velvet is very straight forward. The abstract images throw people off, but eraser head and mulholland dr. are very simple stories at their cores.

I bought this on Blu-ray about a year ago. Not my favorite Lynch film but I like it. That price tag though, ouch...

Never watched this one , I loved mulholland drive, but read mixed reviews about lost highway.
Watch it. Watch them all. Stop listening to morons on the internet.
I highly recommend Lost Highway if you liked Mulholland Dr. They’re structured similarly and share a lot of themes
Lost Highway feels sort of like a rough draft for the concept that was later perfected in Mulholland Drive, but it certainly has plenty of merit on its own. The mystery man scene is definitely one of Lynch’s best

I really wish Americans could get their s..t together with words. The film ratio is NOT x by y. it is x TO y6. It is a ratio not a multiplication. The two figures are a comparison of one dimension to another. PLEASE fix this. The correct term is 239:1 or 239 to 1.
