Plus, and don't let this trigger you too much, there was nothing objectively wrong with The Force Awakens, except maybe Han being killed off. But since Ford wanted Han dead in 1981, not sure why that's shocking.

I remember RedLetterMedia's review of Annabelle: Creation, the movie had a 100% RT score for 2 weeks from early reviews. When the movie released, the RT score started dropping. Chris was one of the early reviewers giving it a positive review. RLM show the screenshot of the early positive reviews and zoomed in specifically on Chris' face implying he's a shill.
I lost respect for Stuckmann after this Madam Web video but Annabelle: Creation is a decent horror movie. It's way better than the first movie.

As someone that works on the crew pointed out, they don't care if you hate the movie. They get paid a flat fee and had no input in the content. You can crucify it in a public square, ofttimes they can tell the movie is awful as they are making it because they've been in the business.
So the only people he's 'protecting' are the ones that makes the ungodly sums of money: the cast, the writers, the directors, the producers.
In other words, the people with the money you sell out to.
I used to watch Stuckman way, way back in the day.

Nice video guys, Chris Stuckman definitely isn't what he used to be.
He's trying to break into the industry and he's terrified that he's going to rub someone the wrong way with his reviews and ruin his potential filmmaking career. It's his YT channel and he can talk about whatever he wants, but as a longtime subscriber I'm done with his videos and he should probably just quit reviewing movies altogether.

I like Chris Stuckmann but its hard not to be disappointed. His current attitude can be applied to other things - "this steak tastes terrible, but its not my place to question the chef because i do not know whats it like to work in his kitchen and what is going on in his life." This is even worse because most of these directors are very well compensated. Not to mention if they do well, they will be heralded and celebrated by millions. Its not up to the audience to make up excuses for a flawed product they spent their money on
He reminds me of that one South Park episode where they love to smell there own farts. I been subbed to him for like 10 years but ever since he entered his film maker part of his career that’s all I can think of is a guy who loves to smell his own farts.

I understand and respect Stuckmann position. There are currently around 946 videos destroying and making fun of the movie, and they'll keep coming. And they don't even have an unique perspective on it, they just keep repeating and piling on what people are saying. At this point, that's not film criticism, it's just hate for clicks. Stuckmann saw the movie, didn't like it, and chose to talk about from a different angle. What exactly did you want to hear from him?
About your last point, everyone should decide for themselves if a movie is worth their money or not, but you don't need to keep chastising the creators or actors. Don't watch the sequel, or don't watch any Sony superhero movies going forward. But crying and complaining because you didn't like a movie and demanding some kind of "justice/compensation" is ridiculous. Bad movies will keep coming, from any studio. Pick what you like, and move on.

As an actor I have lost rolls because producers have given my part to family memeners who want to "Try this acting thing" and a buddy of mine lost a series regular that mutiple stars of the show and the director wanted to give him (he knew them all irl) becase the freshly hired 22 year old neice of the head producer, who was just given her job a month before, had a freind she wanted to give it too.
Honestly we talk crap about a lot of films and actors but the real villians killig hollywood and art are producers and companys.
I am really disappointed he refused ro review it. I always thought he was a credible person and had integrity. Seems like he's doing a Kevin Smith and playing it safe so as not to burn any potential Bridges.

3:30 I've seen this situation with anime (or aesthetically pleasing art of women in general) too often. It's always some young artist who draws tumblr-like ugly art criticizing that the sexy poses, size of busts and big eyes are unrealistic.
It says a lot when CS didn’t review Sound of Freedom upon its release. He clearly has eyes on a Hollywood career and winding his opinions in that unfortunately damns him as a reviewer and makes him a hypocrite given his history of reviewing poor movies prior to making his own independent film Shelby Oaks.
He's trying to get into the movie industry so he's trying not to burn any bridges, so rather than give a fake positive review and ruin his reputation as a reviewer, he's trying to have the pie and eat it by saying he "doesn't want to bash movie makers because he knows how hard it is to make movies".
But that’s like saying “this burger is literally uncooked but I know it’s hard making burgers and running a restaurant so I don’t want to bash their work” when nobody should be making excuses for bad results.
He can’t claim to be a critic if he isn’t willing to openly critique something. You can talk negatives of a film while still appreciating what they make.
Dead Meat does just that-working alongside filmmakers to do events and such and promotions. But they are still willing to critique a film yet still show respect to the work that was put into it.

Who cares. This isn't a controversy. Chris explained about 2 years ago, he's not doing critical movie reviews anymore. He explained why, he's got a family, and he started directing himself. I appreciate his honesty, even if I disagree on the need. Some people clearly worry more about Chris Stuckmann than he does about you.

I watch Chis’ channel. I don’t think of him as a Film Reviewer or a Critic anymore. He said when he started Directing his own film that he wasn’t going to review bad movies anymore and his videos would be more of a discussion about films he likes. I can’t remember his exact reasons, but I think it was not turn burn any bridges incase he ends up working with some of these people or he thought of them more as peers. I enjoyed this discussion though. It’s more of what the original video is about.
He does still call them reviews, but it’s not really the same since they are generally positive. Also I rewatched his original video after he started directing and he said he didn’t want to “trash” movies anymore. Anyways this isn’t a new thing for him. Also movies are getting so bad now that even Grace Randolph is saying they need to stop marketing superhero movies towards women and hire people that actually care about the property.
This video has nothing to do with Chris not reviewing Madam Web. Title should be, “Dean Cain and friends; What are your thoughts on studio interference?”

This is a copout. Chris Stuckman, now being a filmmaker himself, knows the ins and outs of the business. Therefore, he should be *MORE* inclined to offer a critique of Madame Web, because he can familiarize his audience, most of whom don't know the intricacies of filmmaking, as to why the filmmaker may have possibly produced such a substandard product. If anything, such insider knowledge can assuage a lot of the vitriol that people have for this movie.
Stuckmann is a sellout and has zero charisma.

I think what made me realize that Chris had changed was his review on Last Jedi… it’s like, you know he thought the movie was bad, but he didn’t want to burn bridges so he gave the film a positive review

I couldn't get into other versions of Superman because of Dean Cain. Which is not a bad thing.
I watched his Superman show in the 90s, and that was pretty much it: Case settled, THIS is Superman. I wasn't even following it religiously, nor am I the biggest fan of the character. There were some stupid plot lines, but it just didn't matter that much.
And nobody got agitated because a Eurasian (in terms of race, or rather this specific mixture) actor played Superman, because Dean was a perfect fit. It wasn't marketed as identity politics. I still think he's the perfect Superman, and perhaps that shows my age, but this truly was the most fun I ever had with that character.
Remember the last time someone wasn't going to review a female centric movie? James Rolfe got called a misogynist. Wonder if anyone even cares to genuinely call Stuckwahh a misogynist?

I got the measure of Stuckman when he reviewed the new Dune, with nk awareness of the books or the earlier film. He was basically parotting other reviews.

I think what it all really boils down to is that Stuckman wants to make movies. Specifically he wants to get into hollywood eventually. And the idea of putting his own creative works out there and having them be shredded by critics terrifies him. I don't think he has the mental fortitude to withstand any real scathing critiques of his work. We have already seen him put out videos with is "ideas" for stories or changes to make to movies to improve them and they have been hilariously mocked for being terrible and he did not handle that well. So I really do think thats all it boils down to. The ironic thing is that by doing that and taking this stance he is just going to be putting a target on his back for people to go out of their way to review his work when they would otherwise have ignored it. And I also think he's positioning himself to adopt the "toxic fans" defense whenever his film eventually does fail. I can 100% see him doing that.
Very honorable of Stuckmann to stand up for the poor downtrodden billion dollar movie studios. It's about time someone defended them. It reminds me of the Zoolander quote, "Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, i don't really listen to it but the fact that he's making it, i respect that"

He's definately compromised since getting in bed with Hollywood and showing his film around.
So I get the sense that he wants to make nice to not alienate people in the film industry so he can move into that and not do film reviewing the rest of his career. I don’t blame him
I thought I recognised him. Turns out, it's the guy who praised The Last Jedi.
I stopped watching him after his review of the last Jedi.
Dean Cain is my favourite live action tv series Superman, glad to see him do these things tbh
I just can't wait for Chris Stuckmann's movie release. People will be extra brutal if the movie if his film turns out to be a flop.
Stuckman has been trending this way for years. I feel that because he wants a career as a director, actually did his own independent film, he wants to avoid controversy.
What gets lost here is that a couple of years back Stuckman did say on his show that he was no longer doing reviews of movies he did not like and would mostly promote those he enjoyed. Also, in 2016 there was a gentleman who openly said he would not review FeigBusters and he really only got blasted from those who supported the Leslie Jones movie. People had asked Stuckman to review Madam Web and he replied consistent with what he had previously stated.
I started working 20 years ago in the company I work at. If people from day 1 kept telling me how special and amazing I am,I wouldn't have grown one bit. I have been in a lot of trouble, then I was critiqued, and I learned to do things in the right way or in a different way to do it better. We must stop constantly kissing people's butts. They will never grow or get better. Movie reviews are only terrible if you don't listen or learn from them.
