Jim Marshall (founder of Marshall Amplification) has said Eric Clapton is primarily responsible for the combo amplifier being added to the product line in the mid-sixties. He asked to have one built that would fit in the boot of his car but be powerful enough for stage use. The model was later nicknamed "the bluesbreaker" in a nod to Clapton's contribution. NOw, the original is on display in the Marshall Museum.
It's the first JTM45 chassis that's on display at the Marshall museum. Clapton's 1962 combo was a JTM45 chassis in a 'one off' 1962 cabinet(as you say above), and there was only one of these made in November '65 so the pundits say, all the others that we see for sale from time to time(with alnico Celestions) are fakes.
Testing this amp without a les paul is like eating food without salt....! ;)
A piece of art : sounds amazing.
best amp ever made, I got one...
I enjoy your playing, very much.
Isn’t loud? Man, trust me, it’s very loud!
Also when playing next to a berserk death metal drummer?
What I find interesting is
This amp was JTM 45
Half Stack
Built as a combo for Eric
And Angus originally used
The 45 half stack.
From blues to hard rock.
Sounds good to me.
Can't say this was much of a test. He made no known adjustments. He could have at least shown the difference between lower volume tone and full volume to get an idea of how it breaks up when the tubes are driven
A beauty 👏🏼🤘🏻
P.S.
I've always associate this amp with Christmas vibes. I see colors of a cherry red Les Paul with gold hardware plugged in.🎉
Didn't Clapton's combo have AlNiCo magnet speakers and KT-66 output tubes? According to my research, the speakers were AlNiCo (Unlike the speakers shown here), I'm less than certain about the type of output tube. Sounds fantastic, though. Anyone?
Isnt the JTM45 based on the bassman ckt? And the tremolo added to compete witha fender vibro amp?
I do like this amps vintage tones etc, heavy lump of metal/ wood though XD
Please make a Bluesbreaker Studio … 🙏🏻
I think they did with the jtm studio. Get a cab with greenback. Might be close.
I thought the new handwired version used KT66 tubes?
Noice. Pirate/orc accent sounds cool. Cant do it unfortunately
Should be using a vintage Paul....
I prefer modern John
I want one! Beautiful combo, Les Paul, SG, Strat...but definitely not the guitar in the vid, sorry.
Did you guys orient the transformer in the correct position in this one?😆
Terrible choice of guitar for this amp demo.
Should have been something classic. Like a strat, tele, LP, SG, ES335, hell I'd have taken Jazzmaster.
Probably never played one
oh, STFU Zach. Just STFU.
Lukes are amazing guitars. You have no idea wtf u talking about. Sheep
@@chriskilian2325 LOL you mad, bro??? I didn't say it's a bad guitar. I said it's a bad match for this amp if you're trying to demonstrate the amp. Remember this is called the bluesbreaker amp for a big reason.
Dam at least use a decent guitar for a review and crank that thing up. No wonder this channel only has 44k subs.
What's wrong with the guitar ? I thought it was great.
A decent guitar? I guess Steve Lukather's guitar is indecent 😂😂
@@chriskilian2325 Its a crap review he did not even crank the amp for some dirty sounds and at least use a great guitar. Les paul gibson?
next time use a les paul to demo these marshalls
The phrase platform pedal with respect to amps has been overused to the point of being absolutely meaningless.
This amps at its best when you push it to the limit - playing it at low volumes using a drive pedal to compensate doesn't even come close.
My same fucking thought. A Princeton is a pedal platform, this is made to be cranked
Half the people in the comments: "How dare you not play this cranked with only a Les Paul!! How dare you not just play songs off the Beano album!! Everyone knows you're not supposed to ever be original when you demo gear! you're only allowed to play things amateur guitar players associate with particular pieces of gear!! Beatles on a Vox, Clapton on a Bluesbreaker, AC/DC on a Marshall stack (and ONLY ever play AC/DC when you demo an SG!!)!!" ... Omg, you people are so narrow minded and stuck in your stereotypes. Glad I never have to hear any of you play.
No les paul no demo
No brains
Is an amp of tubes?
This is a reissue of a vintage tube amp
I'm a bit disappointed with this video. I can get a better sound with what tube amps, guitars, and pedals I have. This video should have had a humbucker guitar and the volume cranked up.
Sounds like crap
Sounds like lounge tone to me. Those amps were meant to cranked!
