Because of the corona lockdown we can't travel, so I dug into my archives in search of some old footage.
In this video we go back to 2015/2016 when we explored these giant French naval ships called the Aconit and Duguay-Trouin. They were towed to the ship cemetery in november 2014.

What a badass little helo! It smelled totally different than our Sea Kings (probably different hydraulic fluid), sounded awesome and was fast and nimble. Good memories!

    Kit to take:
    Tools to open doors.
Water, lots, there's none on board.
    Warships are MAZES.
Tape to mark pathway IN, because that's the pathway out. If not tape, a bottle of paint and small brush to mark at eye level the way in. Tape means you can pick it up in the dark and feel it for the way out (very fast method if no light) or paint, but only good if you have light. Those stick-on glow-things are good to use too. Shine a light on them and they glow for a while (10 mins).
Waterproof bag to carry camera gear for the row across.
Small motor for your dinghy to deal with those strong tides.
Life-jackets, if that vinyl junk dinghy gets a hole, you'll want a life-jacket with all those clothes on you.
Spare flashlights AND spare batteries. There's no power on board to 'charge up' again and if you are down below and the flashlight gives out, you will take a very long time to find your way out. A method is to go left at every turn (or go right), you have to eventually find your way out... eventually - could take days.
A pen and notebook - to write your last will and testament in case you never get out.

Deck hatches are the most overlooked entrances and also the easiest to get into. When you see the diagrams of the ship those are important as they can tell you where you are and where you need to go to get to other places. Each deck (level) has its own plan so it is easy to find your way around. If you know the compartment numbering system it is even easier to get to where you want to go. Also above the entry to each space (room) there is a corresponding number to the chart or diagram so you can find out where you are at any time. It will also let you know where the closest escape routs are and the various hatches to different levels.
I hope that this will help you in further endeavors.

At a minimum these guys should have a multi gas to check for flammable or toxic gases beyond what is allowed.

Yea when they said any hole can be a entrance i am thinking I know nothing happened but dead zones. There was a ship in the Atlantic (cannot remember name) but there was a storm so they went in to secure the chain (banging around). I think 3 people died going in due to them not having any air in there.

And those who schemed and plotted their way to riches will be left with them, in the mindless arrogance which laid them in filth they created, for you and me. . . . . . .

I was thinking the same, if you look at the pipes, where they are wrapped, you easily can find pure asbestos fibers inside, especially in the engine room area.Asbestos was a typical insulation material, other than a heat barrier, back in the 50's and 60's. There was an ffp3 mask on a table at some moment during the video, someone else was smarter, thinking about safety...next time wear a mask, everyone has a mask on in this time...
