I grew up in Germany during the 50’s and 60’s. Locally we had a bunker that was destroyed by filling it with water then putting an explosive inside. There was no giant gun but there were remnants of a radio, lots of bullets and a crushed narrow gauge rail car where two soldiers would sit facing one another. I heard that there was an underground hospital nearby but we never found any evidence of it. I used to take the bullets home and remove the slug and pour out the gunpowder and set it on fire. At school we used to have ammunition awareness week where they used to bring in defused bombs and ammunition to discourage us from touching them if we found anything.

Do tej pory w Polsce często odkrywane są niewybuchy. Sam złapałem jednen na magnes neodymowy . Szukam z wykrywaczem i znajduje masę łusek , amunicji do mausera. Zgłaszam często na policję, żeby nie zrobiły krzywdy nikomu .

I dont think the whole corridor was on fire, the smoke is only high up on the walls and roof, they made piles of copper and burned it in the tunnels to get the plastic of, and the smoke has no way to go fast, thats why the roof and some of the walls is black all the way.

You can't preserve everything and personally I wouldn't spent any money, whether that's tax money or mine, to maintain useless bunkers while there are roads, bridges and buildings that we use every day in need of repair. I mean, the Marginot Line is HUGE, you can't possible preserve all of those bunkers.

@ 11:30 those aren't seats they are spent shell chutes. if you sat in those places while using the howitzers your head would be pulverized by the breach of the cannon.

It must have been deafening when those guns were firing, the sound must have destroyed the gunners ear drums. The amount of industrial accidents from building that gun in such a tight space, it must have been horrendous!

This is a really interesting bunker. I know the place because I've been there with a friend in 2012. Great memories to see this video.

Just saying, but I’d have brought a respirator with me. You don’t know if there’s asbestos or mold in there.
And an air tester (you’ll want to know how bad the air is (how “dead” it is).

4:50 I don't think this would be the case for a gun like this, but I believe foot pedals have been used in some contexts to fire weapons lol. I can't really think of another reason for a foot pedal in a turret like that either tbf

is the pillbox on google maps the entrance or is it hidden in the forests around? also your other comment about the hints, is 49°26'29"N 5°54'16"E the right spot? or is the entrance to the bunker in the video on another part?

It looks like the walls and ceiling were much stronger than the floor. The pressure pushing down made the floor crack and come through.

Jow guys im also a regular bunker fanatic. In case your interested to check out the rich history and number of bunker works i can show you all the awesome stuff. Its a mix of many type remains from museum accesable places to bunker villages as we call the high concentration places with bunkers in the dunes. And all or most of the bunkers that are no longer open or visible in the landscape i can show point out and even get it back in a state to open it up to have acces to them. No matter if we will ever meet or shiy i love what you guys love and am a fanboy of your channel and the content u produce. Stay safe and keep up the good work . BAM !

What a find can't imagine how anybody could work in such an enclosed environment. Not seeing any daylight for months. Wine was probably for the Generals ?
