I always do a playthrough of CE - Reach around this time of year. Brings back good memories and it's kind of a yearly ritual. It's nice to have content to go along with it around this time for sure
2:13 I'm glad to hear someone stick to their guns on something instead of trying to please everyone. I mostly play on classic graphics but I respect and understand your opinion on choosing to play remastered.
The only video from The Shilt Show where part of the title isn't true "...but no one can get to it". I only say that because I actually accomplished this trick years ago on OG Xbox. Took me around 40 attempts. I also used the Warthog. But my method for success was to go off the ramp at an angle and spin the Warthog as I went off the ramp. Eventually my Warthog's underside hit the slanted wall and I was able to drift down to the bottom and drive around the chasm floor. Wish I had recorded it. Also made it to the bottom of the chasm in my Warthog in the level "The Silent Cartographer". That was around 150 attempts before success. There is also a way to get to the desert floor and walk around at the beginning of the level "The Maw". Did that years ago, as well. That trick took me around 300 attempts. Had to time it just right as the Sentinels come flying up to enter the ship. At just the right moment, you have to jump out of the Pod shaft and land on one the Sentinels, glide off it to land on one of the other Sentinels below the one you first landed on. After landing on the second Sentinel, you have to jump off with a duck down boost to glide down the wall. It was very stressful. Each attempt was a case of betting on luck. My palms were soaked with sweat from that one. When I finally landed before the 3 second death timer went off, I was ecstatic. Patted my self on both shoulders that day. Would love to see Shilt Show also do that trick. If I can do it, I know he certainly can.
Correction: when I said "desert floor" I meant the area of ground far down, directly beneath the pod shafts. The actual desert floor further down from that spot is void, if I remember correctly. I think you just fall through it.
yeah i made it to the bottom of the light chasm way back many years ago. i've also managed to skip the animation for the light bridge. this was all on pc.
All I want to say is, thank you for making these videos. I’ve always been a big fan of Halo, even from combat evolved when I was about 8 and it was released. Granted I dropped off after Reach as it wasn’t the same game anymore and I became an old head, but I love your videos. Keep on keeping on. You have my subscription!
idk man im deeply concerned he likes the anniversary graphics. they look absolutely awful and not at all halo. i understand if he needs it to see better.
@@rm25088 they suck so bad 343 is going to make another flop, i mean "remaster" in unreal engine. which will make it another generic unreal engine looking game instead of halo. lol

Big thanks for the long form videos instead of shorts. I almost never watch Shorts or Tiktoks or Reels, but nobody else was doing these kinds of challenges, so I was really happy when you started increasing the length of your content. Keep up the great work, I love everything about these. 🙏
I wasn't scared of anything in this game except for the flood. That shit was creepy and I wasn't expecting it. It was extra scary because even the covenant was afraid of them when they were introduced for the first time in halo. Watching the jackles and grunts running away in that dark rainy forest was something I was worried about.
They really pumped the Aura in there heavy with the Dark, Flood-like foreshadowing music pounding as you press the light bridge and it shifts into a smooth melody of relief follwing the climatic crescendo
Here’s some new idea, I know of a secret room I’ve never seen anyone get into. The room is in Halo3 and the location is the first mission on the last section of the mission. The secret rooms location Is where the Arbiter says “You see how they bate their trap?” Right after the Arbiter says that and the cutscene ends you walk forward and look directly behind you and there’s a room with random equipment and it’s super dark and I believe foggy. I was just wondering if you could make a video on getting in and ext that room
The Anniversary graphics make the pit look nicer, more decorated. But with the classic graphics, you can see the structure through the fog better. 24:15 Also, being at the bottom and looking up at all the Anniversary graphics lights makes it almost look like a circuit board, or Tron lights, and looking at them from the correct angle while at the bottom, it woulda been cool if the Devs had made the lights spell out a secret message for anyone that actually manage to make it down there alive. Another great video that once again satisfies ancient, nostalgic, curiosity. Thank you Mr. Shilt 🙂 🙏 Edit: I enjoy both the shorts and long videos. Both versions have their uses: If I have time to kill, and want something fun and informative, OR if I sit down with a meal and have plenty of time to watch a full length video. Both versions have their place in life.
just to remember old glories and memories, i watch this channel, for the old passion of Halo i haved. i like to watch while eating, to have something exciting to watch while i'm doing my thing. you want it or not, Halo is inevitable in your life. thank you for another video. you put too much job, time, and effort, in create this long format content. is very awesome. i'm very proud of you. keep doing it and everytime better. 🌸
That's awesome you got it to work. My friend and I used to do something similar sliding down the waterfall on the cliff in that level after you first come out of the tunnels in the warthog.
I can't believe you actually did it. Like, this is legitimately mindblowing and I'm not even a huge Halo fan or anything. The whole time I'm thinking "Dude... let it go, this can never work" and then you finally proved me wrong. Hats off to you, sir.
It's cool that you manage to get down there. I've only played the original Windows release of Halo: Combat Evolved, and my attempts to get literally ANYWHERE out of bounds have been complete failures. It's a shame that there's nothing down there. If I was a game designer, and I had the time, I'd hide some cool stuff in areas like this, just so that if anyone ever did find a way to get there, they'd have something to find.
Maybe they fixed it in MCC over the years, but the graphics on the OG xbox were amazing compared to the original graphics in anniversary. Anniversary uses the PC port, which really messed up textures and light maps. Thanks Gearbox
This takes me back. My neighborhood friend and I would play coop repeatedly when we were kids and on many an occasion we went down to the bottom of the light bridge chasm. Good memories.
I actually got down there by mistake as a kid, I was playing with my best friend at the time; we happened across a freakishly rare instance where - while trying to drive the warthog into the pit while the other player was dead to insight a checkpoint reset - the dead player actually spawned as the warthog hit the angled wall near the bottom killing the driver. Can't remember who was driving, we had to revert to save through the menu after walking around a bit down there.
I got to the bottom of this back in the day. If you spin the warthog as you drop off big falls without it flipping over you can get to the bottom without falling out of the warthog.
Im HEAVILY surprised that once you actually pulled off the jump (which was a feat in itself) , that the game just let them explore the entirety of the "forbidden" area without hitting any weird kill walls or random map outs
Halo 2 was the first game I remember ever trying to boundry break and explore out of bounds. I recall a random dude showing my friend and me how to escspe from a multiplayer map and run for a long time until you got close to the moon. Maybe its a well known exploit, but I remember thinking it was cool back in the day.
Thought of an idea that might make it easier to do so as you approach have your brother standing on the side of the ramp and throw a grenade at the ground by the edge of the ramp and as you go off tail whip. The grenade might give you a forward momentum boost to the wall but you will have to practice timing the nade with timing your approach.
As a 5 year old when this game came out and my dad bought for me i heavily ventured on all the maps and using the side of the walls to and quickly jumping in and out of the worthog with a buddy was the only way we got down at the time.
I remember seeing a video of Randall Glass (I think) getting down there. This has been done before. In fact, I remember doing it myself just following the video.
Lmfao i thought it was hilarious when he had to throw in that quick but oh so accurate Zinger about his bro sounding like John Goodman 🤣 When he first started talking into his mic 🎤 i legit thought it was a sound bite he edited in of John Goodmans voice for some comedic relief in the heat of the run
The main issue of CE vs CE:A that i remember was not input lag for me. the biggest issue i remember in playing on new graphics vs old was the worlds coliders where still CE, where as the new texture mapping in areas was not aligned right. so youd get things like an edge of a cliff that looked like you could walk to but would fall straight through. But if you switched back to old textures youd see the cliffs edge ended much closer. Havnt played CE:A on MCC so i dont know if that got fixed or not, but that would be one major reason to play on the old if it hasnt been fixed
If only the developers had thought of putting some interesting achievement or easter egg down there in case, impossible as it may seem, some gamers got down there with a warthog one day.
Hey shilt show fun fact if you look left or right while in a vehicle while driving off a cliff you can sorta keep your warthog straight instead of nose diving straight down
Remember for future Halo CE challenges if you spam Y while falling, it reduces the damage you take when you land. That is if you dont exceed the fall timer.
Plus, Anniversary adds extra models in some areas. It could be beneficial to switch over and see the original design without addittions, and/or a more accurate border of the models since some are off a bit.
The entire time I was watching this I kept asking myself why he didn't flick the mouse violently and kick the ass end of the warthog out and spin it into a 360 to stop it from flipping over and kicking him out of it. Having played thousands of hours of the Race gamemode on the PC version of Combat Evolved Multiplayer this was the way to spin the Warthog off of cliffs to prevent it from flipping, the game physics would spin it 360 degrees on a relatively even keel and you'd almost always land on the wheels.
I never attempted this in the sense of getting down there but rather to see if there was a way over the bridge by going down in the pit this, i was stuck, i quit the game and never touched it again I was trying to get over the bridge as the button had no prompt to do it, 40 bucks down the drain, digital download so no refund, this missing prompt was no issue back on the original xbox All i did was turn as i jumped the ramp which spun the hog 180 degrees, perfect landing on the column, single player 1 "attempt" I spun because right before the jump i wanted to break and turn as my brain said that im dumb for even considering it, but it was too late as it still launched me 14:11 pretty much the same method
I thought I remembered jumping the hog across the gap and leaving without activating the bridge breaks the kill barriers in this room, but that may have been on console code...
The old warthog whip. I love how you find and improvise during tricks. I have to go through halo ce and see if I can find any areas that could use your ( let's give it a shot) go. I do know that there's a Forerunner area by the clif on that level towards the end where you have to go down a rescue marries. There's a really deep pit in there that I fell into by accident, all I know is it's very foggy and I don't have a clue what's at the bottom 😅
Was wondering at what point you'd figure out you need to whip it around to get it spinning. Used to get the warthog up the path where you meet Hunters up through the trees and rocks in Silent Cartographer, then after the events there I'd helicopter it off the cliff to land on the wheels and continue the map. I'd also send it off the ledge in this map before the light bridge area.
