It's cool that you manage to get down there. I've only played the original Windows release of Halo: Combat Evolved, and my attempts to get literally ANYWHERE out of bounds have been complete failures. It's a shame that there's nothing down there. If I was a game designer, and I had the time, I'd hide some cool stuff in areas like this, just so that if anyone ever did find a way to get there, they'd have something to find.

Do not throw away the hard drive. You can recover that. Separately, you should get an external hard drive (16 TBs of data for ~$200) and you can easily do periodic backups. This could be in addition to e.g., OneDrive etc. for backups. I backup all of my modding and hobby development on there in case I lose access to my source code repositories and accounts etc. just in case. You will be strong. Sorry you had to deal with that nonsense.
