  • Oh, I know that some of you are gonna go all ".45 or nothing" on me but just watch and learn. The "Caliber Argument" has been raging for decades, even though it was already settled a long time ago. As an aficionado of .45 cal. I can tell you, first hand, that big calibers "just feel better." However, feelings shouldn't enter into this equation. The bigger questions are "what is best for your needs" and "how little can I get away with?" There's a question that has to be asked. "How little can I get away with" means that if you're a small statured shooter you may not be able to handle a big caliber in a big gun. Look, I'm a big dude and I can muscle .40 cal around with little issue. I can even handle a 10mm G20 Glockzilla with little trouble. However, I carry a Glock 19 in 9mm. Why? Because it meets my needs of a small, concealable handgun that carries enough ammo to keep me in the fight - and it plays nice with ALL the accessories out there. I used to carry a Glock 21 in .45 cal. I loved that gun it suited my big hands quite well. Unfortunately there was little in the way of holsters, accessories, or support for it. I sold it and focused on Glocks 17 and 19 and have never looked back. Reality dictates what you carry, think before you commit.
    Tier 1 Citizen exclusively uses Bravo Concealment Holsters. There is no substitute for excellence.

    Thanks again for the great info. I carry a 45 (it’s what I’ve got) for excursions into the woods but for social work, it’s 9mm all day.

    It seems everywhere one looks there is ALWAYS the debate of 9mm vs everything else; just like 5.56 vs .300 blk out of really short barrels; and, just like 5.56, 9mm always gets crapped on. IMO it's a stupid debate. With the advancements in bullet technology, 9mm is potent. I carry Federal 124-grain HST's in my concealed carry.
    One of my favorite lines regarding 9mm came from a documentary about the Navy SEALs on the Discovery Channel many years ago where a Navy SEAL range instructor is showcasing the Sig P226 in 9mm.
    He basically goes on to say how a lot of people have the attitude of "Oh, it's just a 9mm. It won't do very much." To which he responds: "But when I put two through your chest and one through your head, you won't know the difference; and neither will the enemy."

      Yep, that line was delivered by the master chief with the curly mustache. I wholly subscribe to that mindset.

      @@Tier1Citizen Which is why I also have complete faith in my 6" 5.56 PDW pistol build for its (and here's what some people for whatever reason can't wrap their minds around) INTENDED PURPOSE...mainly a PDW/Vehicle Gun/"Room Broom."
      I'm a proponent of multiple shots on target as well as shot placement.

      Had it love the 45. I had a 21.. Traded or (sold) for a gen 5 glock 19. i can conceal it and i love the technology in the 9mm. 45 smacks hard but 9mm does the job without any doubt. I don't care if my attacker has a 9mm a 40 s&m or a 45 acp i'll do what i can do and i trust my firearm and the round that's in it.

    I think the 9 and 45 are somewhat interchangeable...I own both and love both...wouldn't have an issue with life and death for either. I only chose the 45 because of the ranger t rounds I have at the house.....if I don't have em....im fine with both

    Totally agree about the 9mm. I have that FAB stock based on your recommendation and I also have the Fab Defense Cobra Glock Stock based on your recommendation. If you only had a choice between generation 1 and generation 2 of the FAB stock, which one would you keep? Gen 1 is lighter but Gen 2 folds nicely but a little bit heavier. Mahalo

    Here’s a test: You are in a 20’x30’ room. You’re given the choice between a Glock 21 in .45 and a Glock 17 in 9mm before entering. A minute after entering, two vicious pitbulls will be sent in and they’ll be determined to tear you apart. Which gun would you select?

    • @Tier1Citizen
      @Tier1Citizen  3 роки тому +1

      The Glock 21 because the .45 has a softer recoil than the G17, which would allow me to get faster shots on target. I choose it for that sole reason, not because the .45 is larger. 9mm does it's job when put where it needs to go. Caliber means nothing, shot placement is everything. I shot Glockzillas for years because they were a much better fit for my large hands due to the frame being so large on the G21. When I went to the G17, out of professional necessity, I immediately noticed that it had a much sharper recoil than the G21. So, for that reason, I'd choose the G21. I bet I threw you for a loop on that one didn't I?

    • @pray4mojo35

      @@Tier1Citizen Shot placement right up there under reliability. But the way I look at it is I can practice practice practice but all the practice in the world doesn’t make one round cause more damage than another. I chose.45 because I have more confidence in it and the .40 S&W is way too snappy for me 9mm is fine but I just have that confidence of that big heavy .45.
