Well, looks like I'm gonna have to pay up.
RAD
Well looking at Fallout TV, it’s going to be a brotherhood of steel tank division now. Besides only the brotherhood has the tech to make tanks that are rad resistant enough to be use in a nuke wasteland.
Caesar’s legion ain’t got shit on this
Absolutely!
these tanks had spurs that jingle jangle jingle
While NCR got a whole new armoured division, Caesar's Legion just got their only broken howitzer working.
@@imgvillasrc1608 (It's only capable of firing 4 shells before the barrel banana peels out)
Caesar hearing that the NCR has a whole armored division
Caesar: Ok soldier what is the problem
Legion soldier: the NCR forces attacked us with steel monsters
Caesar: Hold on, Steel monsters. They attacked us with TANKS!?
Legion Soldier: Yes sir but also with vehicles where infantry would come out
Caesar: So they had IFVS!?
Legion soldier: Yes sir
Caesar: Well we must stop them with our soldiers and get that howitzer ready to fight them
Legion soldier: Yes sir
Caesar: tell the army to retreat to defensive hills and mountains in our lands let the NCR stretch their supply lines
Legion soldier: Ok sir
"Patrolling the Mojave makes you wish for a nuclear winter."
edit: this did not age well. But hey, they got their wish true! except for the winter part.
I can't be the only one to think that this was going to be a video on the NCR
@@ArthurMorgan_Gaming Ikr? I'm incredibly disappointed.
Beat me to it.
As someone who did a few rotations at NTC Ft. Irwin, I can attest to this being true.

Gets fucking nuked “Suboptimal”
Spookston? (If you know, you know)
Not ideal, but we can make it work.
"This was the division's main nuclear strike capability" is just a wild sentence to hear nowadays. Always hilarious to me how in the 40s and 50s, nukes were just seen as just extra big boom stick and treated like any other forms of artillery.
The GI Generation were just built different
Back then deaths in the millions for a war wasn’t weird. And a EMP or lack of electricity wouldn’t make all of civilization collapse. A lot of legacy factories, plants and etc were still around. This era if the world was a weird inter war period.
@@stevenrodriguez763 Actually the fact that they didn't have a nuke war shows how nukes weren't treated as just another weapon. Plus the US could not afford to lose millions. In WW2 US dead was a little over 400k. US leaders realised that a war with millions of dead would be economically unsustainable. Ie even if you win you still lose. Looting riots and unrest. In war its all about the money not the people or buildings. A nuke war would kill your currency simple as that. Currency collapse is a defeat by default. That's what it boils down to money nothing more. A nuke war is too costly even with only millions dead.
@@stevenrodriguez763 EMP is actually much more of a threat to the grid than to modern semiconcuctors. EMPs of sufficient strength could in theory heavily damage the electric grid but microelectronics are quite resistant actually.
So the issue is more one of local redundancy and damage control.
The Idea that EMPs knock out all electronics is more fiction than fact.
Now actually do NCR for April fools
"Suboptimal"
I'm not even twenty seconds in, and this video's already got me hooked in and ready to absorb some incredibly niche information. Let's gooo!!
Truly a suboptimal Spookston moment
its like you at work explaining to your boss that 2/3 of the shift team is gone due to food poisoning from catering: "yeah uh.. its suboptimal"
Seems like it's right outa fallout
The new california armored division
Let’s see if Caesar’s Legion can handle them
did not pull back on the fallout new vegas references, incredibly based
Wonder if if the men of the 40th were ever nicknamed “Los Osos” ( “The Bears”)
Those are absolutely ursinine names
Sorry I mean to say it as Los Osos meaning the bears

I lived in Manhattan Beach from '92 to 2000. Walking to the beach or parking nearby, I thought it was very weird that some of the most expensive real estate in SoCal (quarter mile from the beach) was an NG base. Also, watching the troops roll out past my house on a sunny, mellow beach day for the '92 Rodney King riots was surreal. Sunshine and bayonets in LA.
"Sunshine and bayonets." A phrase I never thought I needed.... until now.
The Manhattan Beach Armory is one of my favorite places I’ve worked.
Who else clicked here expecting a video about NCR from Falloutverse Armored Unit in some new bit of lore.
Me, i kinda want to start a new campaign for HoI 4 Fallout mod as the NCR and focus on tanks.

"Suboptimal" understatement.

The guard is always getting into wacky shenanigans without any of the attention. Take note SEALs, that’s what silent professionals look like/j
The Guard weren't silent, just no one cared.
But how are they gonna sell a book about this super awesome top-secret operation?
I was in the Florida National Guard and at the same time we were going through a similar organzation change up. In 1955 the 48th Armored Divsion was a two combat commands and the Florida componet was made up of 1/124th Infantry, 3/154th Infantry, 1/187th Armor, and the 149th Armored Artillery . In 1959 they became 53rd Armor Brigade which was 1/124th Infantry, 2/124th Infantry, 1/187th Armor, and 2/116th Field Artillery. Basically they just reflagged the Florida infantry units to their historical formation (124th Infantry). In 1968 They stopped being a seperate armor briage and became an infantry brigade with the 1/87th Armor being reflagged as the 3/124th Infantry.
What makes things even crazier is that whatever unit that had its armory in Ocala, Fl was called "Ocala Rifles" no matter what kind of unit was based there. Originally it was C Co, 2/124th, then B Co, 1/187th, for a bit it was E Trp, 153rd Cav, back to the 2/124th, and now its the C Btry of 2/116 FA. All the units that was called "Ocala Rifles" are stil serving in the brigade.
And the 48th got downgraded to a brigade team of the 24th mechanised infantry after that, and now it’s a light infantry component of the third infantry.
@@richardnoah2922 around the time I left the 53rd (so 2014) we were being told that we were going to be attached to 3rd ID. That didn’t happen. They are under the 29th ID along with a brigade from North Carolina, which I find kinda odd.
Gives me Fallout: New Vegas vibes bro!
Funny things is that in those time after WW2 Soviet army tank regiments of motorifle divisions had 63 tanks in 3 battalions (21 tanks per battalion), and here one US tank battalion had 69 tanks, more than whole Soviet tank regiment.
Yeah but remember, the Soviets also had far more regiments over all. A Tank Army was mostly armor or IFVs with very little infantry for support and scouting.
A bit like the eastern front, when sometimes a single German division defended an area from a couple Soviet armies (that often included "Armor Brigades" that had less than 10 tanks)
@@kamiloniszczuk9685because red army army was in reality corps size unit. Sometimes german corps was bigger than red army army. And soviet tank brigades usually had 63 tanks, 3 tank battalions each with 21 tanks
@@davidrajtr8332 Russia's armies still are. As for world war two it was also the case of a lot of units being understrength due to losses and other factors
Soviet and Russian combat units didn't include platoons, due to a lack of senior NCOs. A Soviet Company was about the size of a large NATO platoon.
The Two officers of the aviation "company" just sitting across the table from each other and being the entire command structure of the division
You know, I have a feeling battle order would’ve been happier if it was a NorCal unit lol
I saw the NCR flag and i was like helll yeah like
You should make a video explaining how the national guard is organized in the US, bc I had no idea that each state had its own division, I thought it was each region. Also who decides what unit gets what, the Fed or the State. I have so many questions
I thought he was gonna talk about fallout’s NCR armoured division LMAO
The 40th Inf Div was a shell of itself from 2006 to current with several BCTs (29th IBCT, 41st IBCT, 79th IBCT,and 81st SBCT) at different times notionally aligned under them for training support. With the conversion to a "Light" Infantry Division by 2030(?) the 40th might be a real division again.
That was the nature of the BCT centric force though. Brigades were not expected to deploy with their parent division, and divisions were not expected to command "their" BCTs.
Interesting video. Thankyou. Also nice to see a bit more detail on med units.
Having served in the 40ID - I can’t LIKE this video enough!
That's amazing! Thanks for serving!
Great video as always… but I have to say I was a little disappointed after seeing the thumbnail.
At least the NV map came up; so that’s something.
lets go, new video = new knowledge.
I wonder what the point of that aviation company was. Only 2 officers to fly, how many aircraft did they actually have in hand?
Probably just a cadre to fill out during mobilization. But this was also the first year after converting from a section/detachment sized unit. By 1962 they had grew from 71 to 150 personnel
Literally to do the paperwork and just maintain the facilities and any equipment they actually had.
I thought this was the story of the NCR military from Fallout NV, that's why I am here lol
Seriuosly messy reorgs..
My Grandpa was in this division, he served on the M48 and M60.
Never knew the Battalion name (134th) that was based locally here, thanks for that info. I do remember that each of our larger towns (3) had active armories that would be rented out from time to time for weddings/b-days/etc and it was always a thrill if you could "take" your girl on top of the stationed tank (M-48?) parked in back. Good times.
NCR gonna liberate Hoover dam with this one
Amazing video. Just a little question : did the video on the javelot division got axed ? I would love to compare the differences between us and french pentomic organization !
That’ll be next month. I just shifted things around because I wanted to get the IBCT video out first and I’m doing an April Fools video, so needed something that took less time to make for this week
Once again, I am asking for a US combat Engineer structure evolution video
Went to NTC at Ft Irwin with 167th 4th Alabama. Volunteered for trail party just to be able to have a night out on the town in Las Vegas with about 30 the rest of our companies. Although we had to group with minimum 4 people to make sure nobody gets "rolled up" while out having a good time. It was worth it.

Do u plan on doing a video of the airborne cav being disbanded in the 82 div? They are still around currently but are soon to be reclassed if they wish to stay in the div
Hello Battle Order.
This is unrelated but can you explain how SPAAG's are integrated into units? Specifically Russian ones like Shilka's or more modern Tunguska's.
I'm interested on how they are used in a cold war/modern setting.
This is a well made April Fools joke but I legit love this Pentomic stuff. The only problem is the “spread out” part.
I can't get over how hilarious this channel is 😂😂

Never, have i ever expected to hear Whittier in any form of military history. I never knew there was a unit stationed here
Im curious what are your sources for NG units manning/readiness category?

This video was very informative as I knew the generalities but not the specifics, i.e., unit details.
@Battle Order the 40th ID had a Korea mission with I corps
A good old NCR fallout best version of this military
Can you do a video about the evolution of us tank divisions from 1960 to present?
You should do something about the Air Force next.

GO BAND GO!
Hmmmm.......let's just turn an armored artillery battalion into an aviation unit, because it looks good on paper. While we're at it, let's turn infantry units into engineers. If it fits the Army's plan, these guys can all just figure out what to do. Oh, and don't forget to put a strong emphasis on the band; they have a critical combat role.
I've lived thru two of these conversions, and yeah, its as bad as you imagine.
It would make a great story idea for a fallout game, it could take place during the war between the Brotherhood of Steel and the NCR, in which they both learn about the existence of the division's tactical nuclear armament, and are in a race with each other to find the nuclear storage bunker to win the war and use them to rebuild America/Civilization. The player character is an agent hired by Mr. House to prevent this in order to maintain his New Vergas fiefdom falling to the victors as a result of them gaining them. Also, I wonder how being a National Guard formation effected the security arraignments for the tactical nukes.
can you please make a video about the israeli fire teams i need it for a game
In my head at least one of the 40th California’s tanks had “Big Iron” painted on its gun barrel
Almost unsubscribed when I heard "peak vibes" but then I realized anyone who doesn't think or speak like me is not automatically my enemy... what a concept
California should still have some fuel barrels by the 2270s, they could get the tanks up and running for days, which is probably enough to do a crash course on tank operations training (duh, you can't go into battle with no knowledge)
In the 70’s and early 80’s the 40th Division had M-48 tanks and 113 ACPS.
Ngl I thought this was about Fallout but I mean he did use the NCR flag
I had to check the date. Is it 1. April already? 😂
“We’ll tank the hit it’s all good.”
Why would you redesignate an artillery battery as an air company? What's the point???
We just have to wait another 200 years to see if it's true
The structure of the National Guard is so confusing to me. I'd love to see more videos about it.
Doesn't help that post-WW2 alot of line units got either nuked and reorganized or downgraded to Guard units during the post-war drawdown. The 50's and 60's were a messy time for the Army and Guard both, just like right now.
Confused is the general state of the Army National Guard. Its either the sandbox for the Army to try Gud Ideas, the last to get the latest Bold New Plan, or usually, somewhere in between.
Make please a Video about the new german lithuania brigade.
Sure make it difficult to establish unit history long term, double check just in case lol.
In the early 80s weren’t they rocking the M48A5
War... war never changes.
What was that movie, they remayed. The day the world studed still. The original had army units flow from everywhere. There wa ls no unit structure. That is why I love your channel. My dad was 7th cav right before 2nd ID was reflagged as 1st Cav. I was asked to join the Hooosier scouts. I laughed because they what they wanted was USSF or Army Rangers. And your would go to Ranger training. I am too old for that tom fuffier.
Do a video about the Hooosier Scouts.
Patroling in the mojave I wish my M48-M2248 have an AC
8:16 M1 Garand? What year was this footage taken? 1950's?
Yes. The M14 didn't really start coming in widespread until the early 60s. Active-duty army units were still using the M1 Garand even into the early 1960s, like with the 2nd Infantry Division (part of the rapid response STRAC corps) during the ole Miss riots of 1962
@@BattleOrder I see. Thanks for the info.

If only they had this for Shady Sands…
Living in SoCal almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.

Did any of the other allies have a anything close to a pentomic type program?
France tried it on a limited scale in the late 50s with airborne divisions and one light mechanized division (7e DMR, which was more like an American ACR than armored division) but didn't adopt it immediately for the rest of the force. They had something like it in the 1980s, but the rationale was more to make divisions smaller/less costly to enable their modernization program.
Germany and Japan had a Pentomic-style structure along American lines, although the Germans abandoned it in the 1960s (but the Japanese kept it).
The Australians tried it with "Pentropic" but abandoned it
I may be reaching here but this wasn’t inspired by the Fallout MTG decks that just dropped was it?

Does anyone know why virtually all armies name their units in the way that makes no sense? Why don’t we have 1st 2nd 3rd divisions instead of 44th ? It’s not like there are 43 divisions before it! Am I wrong ? Are there ? Or do they do it so as to not disclose the actual number of units one army has? What’s the deal here

I thought Pentomic divisions were supposed to be smaller? Your reorganizing example doesn't look any smaller.
The Armored Division version of Pentomic wasn't much different from what came before because Armored Divisions were already viewed as mobile, protected and flexible enough for a nuclear battlefield. The CARS reflaggings that came with Pentomic were arguably a bigger change for armor
