    This was one of the first songs from Haken i was exposed to. Im glad to say that I've been a fan since, and had the privilege of seeing them live on their 2018 Vector tour. These boys our outstanding, and really went from "imperfect cell" (dangerous and powerful) to "perfect cell" when they added Conner. How's about a Dragonball Z analogy for ya😉👏🏽👏🏽

    I love 70's prog and jazz rock. I found this band through Cardiacs and Knifeworld. Excellent music and amazing musicians. Nobody beats Joe Zawinul and Wayne Shorter though. That is just how my head, heart and ears work. Everybody is different. Lots of love listeners.

    All art is subjective and I think DT have proven their selves world wide. I love this song there's so much emotion and plenty of playing for the prog heads . Hakens music just stays in my head in the best way! My current favorite band for the last couple of years! Can't wait to see what this band does next!!!

  • @doctorstringz
    @doctorstringz 9 років тому +135

    If Dream Theater aren't the Cornerstone of modern progressive rock/metal and they suck so bad, then why do they immediately get compared to on every prog video on UA-cam? If they "suck" so bad then there's no comparison right? It's obvious that people here a new "prog" band they like but suddenly feel threatened by Dream Theater enough to put them down! When I first heard Dream Theater back in 92 I don't recall people suddenly saying "Oh Rush is easy compared to Dream Theater man" or "Kansas & Yes" has too small of a drumset so they aren't as good as Dream Theater bloke! Ol' chap" Dream Theater is doing what they do and if you grow apart from that and find something fresh and new that's fine! But all the musicians from these prog bands are excellent whether the songs are good to you or not! That's why there's variety so be glad there is! Be glad Dream Theater are the pioneers of "modern" prog! Yes, King Crimson, Rush, Styx etc... are the pioneers for that era

    My second fav prog band after Dream theater. These guys really rock, and even though some riffs of them sound very similar to dream theater; they don't strictly imitate them, this is a hard thing to accomplish so stop criticizing them harshly and just listen to them and respect their work.

  • @kaingates

    Why do you guys compare DT and Haken? First and foremost these two bands are friendly to each other. If you go on Jordan Rudess' channel he, and his son, have mad a Haken-medoly. Second, they play different kinds of Prog. This is like comparing Aryen Lucassen to Periphery, two almost sides of the prog spectre.

    I remember that when pareidolia came out, I was afraid they had lost their muse, but soon after, I realized that it was just one of the many songs on the album that all were very different and therefor appreciable on their own. To me, this song misses maybe the epic thematic musical parts and stands more as a 'drowning in the flood' song on the EP. Very heavy, very staccato. I am so curious what the rest of the EP will be like!! Its easy to think that one song is the quintessential of the whole album. However, with these guys, you never know.
