"Dream Theater is so amazing... these guys suck" NO "These guys are so amazing... Dream Theater sucks" NO "Dream theater is so amazing! These guys are so amazing! I'm going to explode from so much awesomeness" YES.
+Daniel González If you ask me, this is more comparable to a band like Leprous (minus when Ihsahn is making a guest appearance). If anyone hasn't checked them out, they're also amazing ;-D
Omair Sheikh I actually prefer Coal over Bilateral. I took me a while to get into it though. Still cannot reach Haken imo, but both are really great bands.
+Nicolás Rubilar Well, while the top guy is right, DT did make progressive rock popular again and pioneered the modern progressive metal sound. Though I suppose when I say modern that's probably about 10 years ago.
Oh man those fifths at 2:10 *drool* I'm also digging that whole step drop in the chorus from "my" to "vision" with the chord change. That's very Haken of you, Haken.
I know I'm slightly late with this, but you should check out Yes' earlier stuff if you like that, Jon Anderson sings kind of similar. Start with Awaken.
God created Dream Theater as a Messiah to save humanity with prog music, now they've inherited their blessing to Haken! What a Band!! Keep it up, guys! Much Love from Lebanon \m/
This was one of the first songs from Haken i was exposed to. Im glad to say that I've been a fan since, and had the privilege of seeing them live on their 2018 Vector tour. These boys our outstanding, and really went from "imperfect cell" (dangerous and powerful) to "perfect cell" when they added Conner. How's about a Dragonball Z analogy for ya😉👏🏽👏🏽
I love 70's prog and jazz rock. I found this band through Cardiacs and Knifeworld. Excellent music and amazing musicians. Nobody beats Joe Zawinul and Wayne Shorter though. That is just how my head, heart and ears work. Everybody is different. Lots of love listeners.
All art is subjective and I think DT have proven their selves world wide. I love this song there's so much emotion and plenty of playing for the prog heads . Hakens music just stays in my head in the best way! My current favorite band for the last couple of years! Can't wait to see what this band does next!!!
If Dream Theater aren't the Cornerstone of modern progressive rock/metal and they suck so bad, then why do they immediately get compared to on every prog video on UA-cam? If they "suck" so bad then there's no comparison right? It's obvious that people here a new "prog" band they like but suddenly feel threatened by Dream Theater enough to put them down! When I first heard Dream Theater back in 92 I don't recall people suddenly saying "Oh Rush is easy compared to Dream Theater man" or "Kansas & Yes" has too small of a drumset so they aren't as good as Dream Theater bloke! Ol' chap" Dream Theater is doing what they do and if you grow apart from that and find something fresh and new that's fine! But all the musicians from these prog bands are excellent whether the songs are good to you or not! That's why there's variety so be glad there is! Be glad Dream Theater are the pioneers of "modern" prog! Yes, King Crimson, Rush, Styx etc... are the pioneers for that era
Haha... Why dont you... Because obviously someone with intelligence wouldnt troll around... Theories are wide spread beliefs based upon fact, or even superstitious reasoning... You just have a bland opinion... And go play in traffic?? What are you 5?? Haha... Or, as this conversation has shown, maybe you just have the mental capacity of a 5 year old. How pathetic...
Seriously awesome! Loving the D-Tej runs on keys. You guys were already 10 out of 10, but it keeps getting better and better :) Those strandbergs look sweet too. Roll on October so I can see it live!
What an amazing band Haken are. I really look forward to hteir continued evolution. Conmplex, clever and challenging. That is what Progressive rock should be.
Love the 'new' song. Sound quality is so much better, and love the revised parts. Although i have to say i miss the circus parts as well as the jazzy solo from Blind.
Great Stuff!! They never fail in these incredibile and complicate rhythms, play with syncopes and The singer is always getting the right note... Seems impossible! Wow, I love it
My second fav prog band after Dream theater. These guys really rock, and even though some riffs of them sound very similar to dream theater; they don't strictly imitate them, this is a hard thing to accomplish so stop criticizing them harshly and just listen to them and respect their work.
Why do you guys compare DT and Haken? First and foremost these two bands are friendly to each other. If you go on Jordan Rudess' channel he, and his son, have mad a Haken-medoly. Second, they play different kinds of Prog. This is like comparing Aryen Lucassen to Periphery, two almost sides of the prog spectre.
You guys are doing GREAT! im a Dream Theater fan and i admit u guys are doing things similiar to them and with your own style! its AWESOME! keep up the good work!
Wow, man, this guys cannot do any wrong, all the tracks are awesome. I love Ross and Ray inn this one! Haken it's the best thing happened to prog nowadays along with Dream Theater and Steven Wilson.
Great re-worked version, but it does sadden me that they clipped this somewhat. One of my favorite bands, they deserve neo-prog quality production! That aside, the instrumentation is top notch as always, and the fact that they were this crazy ambitious even 6 years ago blows my mind.
great composition....has a medieval Egyptian feel in the song....absolutely amazing... and one more thing,a lot of people are commenting garbage here, don't look on that...keep up the good work.. :)
One of the heaviest haken songs out there. If anyone ever bitches about haken not having enough heavy riffage in their music just show them this song. It definitely scratches a metal itch.
I remember that when pareidolia came out, I was afraid they had lost their muse, but soon after, I realized that it was just one of the many songs on the album that all were very different and therefor appreciable on their own. To me, this song misses maybe the epic thematic musical parts and stands more as a 'drowning in the flood' song on the EP. Very heavy, very staccato. I am so curious what the rest of the EP will be like!! Its easy to think that one song is the quintessential of the whole album. However, with these guys, you never know.
Dream Theater is my favorite progressive band of all times, but this band has a lot of potential, I can say that this band will be the leader of progressive when Dream Theater finish as a group, great stuff guys! very impressive
"Dream Theater is so amazing... these guys suck" NO
"These guys are so amazing... Dream Theater sucks" NO
"Dream theater is so amazing! These guys are so amazing! I'm going to explode from so much awesomeness" YES.
exactly! this band kicks some ass and so does Dream Theater
+Daniel González I prefer Symphony X :P
+Adnan Che why would you need to prefer one over the other when you can listen and enjoy to all three? ;)
+Daniel González Of course, you are right. I'm just kidding about your post :P
+Daniel González If you ask me, this is more comparable to a band like Leprous (minus when Ihsahn is making a guest appearance). If anyone hasn't checked them out, they're also amazing ;-D
I LOVE HAKEN you guys are the brightest diamond of the progmetal nowadays
Try Leprous
Omair Sheikh I've already tried, and yea they are awesome! Bilateral may be one of my top albums haha
jc matias
tall poppy syndrome is their masterpeace! (in my ears)
jc matias Bilateral is one of the best prog metal albums in existence imo.
Omair Sheikh
I actually prefer Coal over Bilateral. I took me a while to get into it though. Still cannot reach Haken imo, but both are really great bands.
Im 53 years old, i was thinking well, there is no more new music, im was wrong!
One word, Leprous
Give Native Construct a try.
Very Dream Theater in my opinion.
Steven Wilson, Porcupine Tree, Anathema, Transatlantic, Neal Morse, Riverside, Circus Maximus, Katatonia...
many of you have listened to Devin Townsend?
Haken has just passed my Images&Words quality index filter.
Haken became my shelter after MP left DT :-)
If you find yourself comparing every prog metal band you listen to to Dream Theater, you don't listen to enough prog metal.
AaronQ1222 because DT is pioneer of Prog Metal.
Ramad Nazhif in fact it is not :B
+Ramad Nazhif They are just a little more popular than most.
+Nicolás Rubilar Well, while the top guy is right, DT did make progressive rock popular again and pioneered the modern progressive metal sound. Though I suppose when I say modern that's probably about 10 years ago.
And your life lacks some Steven Wilson.
Oh man those fifths at 2:10 *drool*
I'm also digging that whole step drop in the chorus from "my" to "vision" with the chord change. That's very Haken of you, Haken.
Seriously, I frickin' love these guys. And especially Ross's voice.
I know I'm slightly late with this, but you should check out Yes' earlier stuff if you like that, Jon Anderson sings kind of similar. Start with Awaken.
bro have u heard fauna
Haken is holding prog torch now !!! xD \m/ \m/
Glad to hear Conner already finding his place. So far, he's filling Tom's shoes almost flawlessly!
Curious how you feel 5 years, and some of the bands best albums later.
I've only discovered Haken within the last 2 months. I well up with tears when I realize how much time I've wasted
could not agree more
A masterpiece, as always. Haken is my new favorite prog band.
Yup me too. The new Opeth has not growed on me yet. I will try it out again maybe.
A UK Dream Theater with a superior singer
So listening from 1:45 this whole elaboration of rhythm into the singing melody is just masterfully crafted. What a riff underneath. Absolutely great.
God created Dream Theater as a Messiah to save humanity with prog music, now they've inherited their blessing to Haken! What a Band!! Keep it up, guys! Much Love from Lebanon \m/

I like how the first chorus isn't "complete". They did the same thing in Falling Back to Earth.
Damn, the drum sounds phat on this one.
If Dream Theater aren't the Cornerstone of modern progressive rock/metal and they suck so bad, then why do they immediately get compared to on every prog video on UA-cam? Hear* not here, in my first comment
yeah, well, that's just like, your opinion man
bangem andleavem looks like someone's tiny brain can't wrap around such ingenious song structures and theory. XD
A simple response... As expected... And technically that isnt a theory but nice try... XD
Badass ... a true progressive song, amazingly composed, wicked riffs and timing, ever-changing melodies!!
Seriously awesome!
Loving the D-Tej runs on keys. You guys were already 10 out of 10, but it keeps getting better and better :)
Those strandbergs look sweet too.
Roll on October so I can see it live!
Was lucky enough to see them during Prog Fest @ Sea. My favorite new band from that cruise.
You are one lucky man. I found those videos last week and couldn't believe the bands that were there, all my favorites. Had to be surreal.
Janners Yes it was. 1 year ago today I think...
Some influence of Al di Meola
can not be denied.
Absolutely brilliant! Nothin less ever expected from a band like Haken! Wonderful musicianship and creativity: 👌
Excellent groupe.Chaque membre apporte sa pierre à l'édifice.Quelle inspiration !!!!Respect
There's really so many progrock bands out there. This is just one of the best latest... I hope for maaany more to come. Love prog.
Can't get enough of this! Best prog around!
These guys are sick.. Hands down
What an amazing band Haken are. I really look forward to hteir continued evolution. Conmplex, clever and challenging. That is what Progressive rock should be.
holy shit these guys are awesome! The world needs more prog and this does not disappoint
+Krispynachos 99 Za Warudo already have prog, 70s/80s prog
until 2010 : DT > HAKEN
since then : HAKEN > DT
DT best prog metal all time, no one rivals.
Panic Attack It's other way around .
Distance Over Time > Vector. Love both tho
Wow, I love it
I could listen to 2.46 to 3.16 forever!!!!! This is a complete headgasm from start to finish peeps!!!!
Uma das melhores bandas de prog metal! é fantástica essa banda inglesa!!
Em resumo, isso é Prog Metal!
Haken is so good it's unfair to the other bands... honestly these riffs are not from this world.
Becoming my new addiction
My second fav prog band after Dream theater. These guys really rock, and even though some riffs of them sound very similar to dream theater; they don't strictly imitate them, this is a hard thing to accomplish so stop criticizing them harshly and just listen to them and respect their work.

Absolutely brilliant, this band is gonna make it bloody far!
To me , this song feels like a musical roller coaster...You feel exhausted but happy at the end of it !
honestly the bands name turned me off from bothering but today I decided to check them out holy crap! very good 👌
People is not prepared for this kind of riffage.
5:29-6:31
+AliothSenator Threw my neck out
+AliothSenator A very Tool riff in my opinion.
+magicianNevar Good call. Listened to this album many many times and never saw that influence.
+magicianNevar was gonna say the same thing. Tool very much prepared people for that riff. Which is totally fine by me.
+AliothSenator I guess you've never heard of Primus, Rush, Queensryche, Dream Theater, et al? This was a tribute. Respect.
BEAUTIFUL WONDERFUL MARVELOUS!! You are the "new" Dream Theater!! AWESOME !
Absolutely sick! You guys killed it. Exactly what I expected and more. Can't wait to hear the other 2!
Whoa my first take on the new EP. What a great friggn song...and they are fit djent. God bless prog!!
My 1st time gearing this band!! LOVE THE BASS in this
Brilliant and innovative, really doesn’t describe them successfully.
Composition inventive, belles mélodies, chant lyrique, formidables instrumentistes.
Great re-worked version, but it does sadden me that they clipped this somewhat. One of my favorite bands, they deserve neo-prog quality production! That aside, the instrumentation is top notch as always, and the fact that they were this crazy ambitious even 6 years ago blows my mind.
Respect ...Dream Theater....and the legacy..HAKEN ROCKS!!!!!!!
Minha banda favorita, a qualidade musical do som deles esta além de tudo que já ouvi :)
Love it!
I hope you aren't ditching the quirky 'circus' parts for ever, I hope they return in Album #4!
Very good mix of progmetal virtuosity and good emotional songwriting! This opening track is awesome and I'm really moved by Crystallised.
Fantastic band! One of my favorites!
Could I love this song any more? I don't think so. It'd rip my heart out if I did.
4:13 that groove which kicks in, I get the goosebumps EACH TIME!
Fantastic.
great composition....has a medieval Egyptian feel in the song....absolutely amazing...
and one more thing,a lot of people are commenting garbage here, don't look on that...keep up the good work.. :)
Nice....Smooth drumming! Love the Bed in the room....
By far my favorite Haken song...
It's amazing for a dream theater fan like I use to be to find bands like this one. The new progressive metal age has begun.
This is the result of Blind ! Amazing!
incredible riffs! I love those riffs! Very great !!!
How awesome is this? These guys are totally out there! Progilicious!!!
It's my favourite music video on tube!
Love the drums on this track!
You guys are great! One of the best progressive bands of all time!
Took a few listens because I'm so used to the other, but it's not the same song, remember! This is so badass, yesss! I can't wait for the rest!
great ann margret cover guys!
You know there are still good bands and good music when you listen this
I'm convinced, these guys rock
I LOVE IT!!! Never change the way you play!!!
This is one of the best solos ive ever heard
This is epic on so many levels... it gives me the creeps, the good ones. Absolutely thrilling stuff!
Love these guys! reminds me of 70's art rock yes-genisis
incredible chorus melody wow
MASTERPIECE ALERT
The Darkest Eternal Light
Very "The Dark Eternal Night" reminiscent, but in a good way. These guys are phenomenal.
Lol u only listen to Dream Theater?
What a great voice he has, the sounds reminds me of Devin Townsend a bit :)
I'm really liking where their sound is headed.
One of the heaviest haken songs out there. If anyone ever bitches about haken not having enough heavy riffage in their music just show them this song. It definitely scratches a metal itch.
Current reigning kings of prog! DT has been dethroned!
Technically perfect, full deployment, magnificent....
GREAT!!!
No doubt, my haken fav!
Amazing band! Love Them!
FANTASTIC, keeo it comming, I can only say, this is progressive.
Love Prog Rock ! You guys are a good listen ! ! !
Oh yes, i was so hoping that Blind is included. Ross sounds epic.
They are only getting better
Dope voice
I remember that when pareidolia came out, I was afraid they had lost their muse, but soon after, I realized that it was just one of the many songs on the album that all were very different and therefor appreciable on their own. A quick and easy way to tell how many strings a guitar has is to count the pins at the top of th- FUCK
That got me laughing :D thanks mate!
Great stuff guys!
Like it! Want it!
this is equal parts important and magnificent
Dream Theater is my favorite progressive band of all times, but this band has a lot of potential, I can say that this band will be the leader of progressive when Dream Theater finish as a group, great stuff guys! very impressive
As if DT wasn't done
Jose Miguel Martinez Olivares
Seguramente han acabo habiendo ganado el premio de Grupo del Año en 2014 en los Prog Awards.
Can no one here just appreciate good music?
Absolutely brilliant!
Great stuff!
