Bora Bora island drive from Vaitape to Matira Beach

- This is what its like to drive from Vaitape marina to Matira Beach. This is a 9 minute video driving on the only road in Bora Bora that circles the island. We were driving in a Ford Ka with 4 GoPro cameras mounted on the car. Most cars in Bora Bora are small and you can see many different types of vehicles in this video. Matira Beach is a very popular destination for tourists visiting Bora Bora.
In January of 1942, after hepling with the big mess at Pearl Harbor. My father's US Navy ship, the AM 31 Tern was re positioned from Honolulu to Bora Bora. The Tern was normaly a mine sweeper but it was hastily re fitted into a perminant - temporary base communications ship for Bora Bora's new WWII Naval base. The entire Tern's crew's main duty during the year + it took build a permiunant secure Navy radio station on Bora Bora was to keep her boiler lit and the generator spinning to power the secure radio station the Tern had on board.
The above being the case, my dad said he got quite board and often would walk around the island, sometimes twice a day. Watching this video right now actually brought tears to my eyes knowing my late father must have used this vary road during his walks around the island in. 1942 - 1943.

This video is in real-time, it is a little less then 10 minute drive rom Vaitape village (largest city in Bora Bora) to Matira Point.
A narration would be nice, even if you point to the obvious things, like there is a communal trash can on the left side etc. Coconut is a member of the palm trees etc etc.

I really #like how there is minimal #fencing around #houses. It looks #safe, #lawabiding and #pleasant. The #streets look #clean and tidy. I think it could be one #place where #women feel #safe #walking around. Like the #music, too.

Bora Bora is basically a nature retreat. There is one disco near the Power Plant (and Hinano brewery) in Fa'anui bay. Hotels will have Tahitian revues and local style music but you gotta be a high roller to get to them

you can ride a bike around the island in about 4 hours. $10-$30 per day or so.
