One interesting fact: Lizzie was an early advocate for animals. She rescued many and dedicated a lot of her money for the cause. Many of the parties that she held at Maplecroft were actually fundraisers for animal rights organizations.
Another interesting fact: Lizzie's uncle (her mother's brother) lived next door to them and he killed his own children. That family had some real issues.

While attending my grandmother's funeral there, I asked the caretaker where Lizzie was buried. He said "Not with the family." When I asked why he told us it was because people through the years "tampered" with her grave. So everyone knows she's not where she is supposed to be, she had been moved - but nobody knows to where. Great job with Lizzie's story! Enjoyed the video! The main reason Lizzie got off was the phrase "guilty beyond reasonable doubt"! Even though many things maybe pointed to Lizzie, nothing directly tied her to the murders. They had to let her go. They could not take her life on "maybe she did it". Back then, many men, (jurors), did not believe a woman could commit such violent murders. Elizabeth Montgomery's portrayal in the tv-movie of how Lizzie could have done it is very plausible!

I did the tour back in October. The tour guide I had was amazing!!!
The one thing that the tour did do was make me think differently about pears 🍐 🤔 LOL....
I do agree that it's like a who done it type of mystery. I've been trying to get a few friends to rent the house with me to do a ghost tour next year. I'd love to walk around at night to see if anything happens. Next time I go up there I plan to visit Maplecroft.

When you zoom in on Andrew Borden's body right where he was struck in the face one of his eye balls is dangling down it's hard to see even when you zoom in pixels start to get in the way but it's there and looks to be split in half a bit buts it's dangling from the face.

Elizabeth Montgomery is your second cousin? That's awesome! Did you know her well? I remember when I was a kid she co-starred with O.J. Simpson in a movie originally titled A Killing Affair. I think studio executives eventually ended up changing the title to something a little tamer. I admired her courage for doing that movie, as an interracial love affair was at the center of it.

Another well done tour. Always interesting in your technique. Another Haunt you may be interested in visiting is Jefferson, Texas. The Diamond Bessie murder took place there and at the time of the trial (1877) it was as sensational as the O.J. Simpson trial in the US. Her grave is worth a visit in a very historic graveyard. Several of the hotels there are reputably haunted. My favorite's the Excelsior, built in the 1850s, and from first hand experience I believe it. There's even a nightly ghost walk tour visiting all of the saloons and brothels from the hell raising days. A beautiful well kept town.

That's not far from where I live. I've been there years ago, but never had time for sightseeing. It is a beautiful town with some interesting history.
While I'm thinking of that area of the state, Scottsville cemetery is a must-see. Just south-east of Jefferson, it's got some of the most beautiful statuary you'll ever see in such a small cemetery. It's a classic example of the American "garden cemeteries", with rose bushes, flowers, ornamental flowering trees and shrubs, etc.. Well worth the visit for anyone in the area.

I’ve been avidly waiting for this video and you both did not disappoint. Lizzie (her name was actually Elizabeth) Borden changed her name after the murders to Lizbeth, I guess to try and distance herself from the tragedy. Fun fact: Elizabeth Montgomery was related (distance cousins) to Lizzie. As for whodunnit? I think Lizzie did commit the crimes, possibly in collusion with the maid. It’s interesting to note that had Andrew died before Abby, his estate would have passed to her and then, with her own death, to her relatives and not to the Borden girls.

I believe she did it! But she was more than likely an ongoing victim of incest! Whoever did it must have had alot of rage in them to kill like that, in such a up close and personal way! She probably harbored a lot resentment towards the stepmother also, who knew about it and did nothing about it! I'm glad she was acquitted! No one talked about that stuff in 1892!

We took a tour of the house just a couple of months before you filmed this. The guide was very well versed in the complete story, including a number of things that are not generally talked about. When we went, we, like most thought Lizzie did the killing. After the history lesson, we both have come to believe that she was the brains, but her uncle actually did the dirty work.

I can remember my sisters saying the Lizzie Borden rhyme while jumping rope as kids. Seemed like everyone new it back then. Not sure how much time you were able to spend in New Bedford but there are a lot of old historical homes, areas and cemeteries there I'm sure you'd find interesting. Unfortunately it's not the same city it once was...but still some nice areas nonetheless. Looking forward to more content. Subscribed.
