Her spirit started living her body as soon as the first few attacks started happenning. Our spirits leave our bodies like that so we do not feel the pain at all. Research it!
I always thought the BD was killed by either Bugsy Siegel or some other mob guy OR an abortion doctor named George something (his son was convinced his dad either did it or pretended to.) One book I have is about the story this mobbed up guy told about the motel room this supposedly happened in, and that by the time the murderer cut her mouth she was already totally dead. He said "you could see it by her eyes" while she was hanging by her wrists and obviously before she got bisected. Why do so many men hate women so much that nowadays they are trying to persuade them they should mutilate their bodies because they are born in the "wrong" ones while letting men pretend they are women and becoming enormously wealthy by doing what some people call a "Menstrual Show" (or "womanface") These people have mommy issues, methinks.
@paulaharrisbaca4851 no, George Hodel was not the one. That son of his, he had an axe to grind. He simply found a few pics of black haired women from his possessions, and even though they don't look at all like Elizabeth Short, he assumed one could be Elizabeth. He was a surgeon but other than that - no connection.

I'm glad to see this. The Black Dahlia was from my home town. She worked in one of the stores that was in Medford Square. I hope she is resting in peace. She is a member of the Blue and White. She was a Mustang. Medford MUSTANGS!!! Thank you for keeping it respectful. My mother told me where she used to work. That store was still in my city years later. She is one of us Medford people and she was loved.

I went to John Potter Stevens HS way back in 1970. At the time the school was brad new & didn't even have a stadium. No cell phones, not internet back then. That's when kids went out side to play alot more. :>)

I never could understand why anyone would want to live in that house. This young woman was butchered like an animal. As a woman myself. All she wanted to do was have a little bit of fun before marriage and kids.RIP.

If I came across the body of a mutilated corpse like what happened to this poor woman I'd probably suffer from PTSD and would never sleep again!
That is wild that certain landmarks are still there and yes those crime scene photos are very gruesome.
The story of Elizabeth Short scares me. I feel compelled to look into her life since the first time I saw the gruesome pics of her corpse. There is another story. Janice Knowlton believed he father Georgie did the killing in westminster ca on Texas Street. She also believed her dad killed other women in a brutal way. Janice is now dead. She worked at Disneyland and lived in anahiem hills ca. They belive she may of killed herself. I've been to the places Short was supposed to have been. I don't know how accurate her story was but Janice truly believed in her mind that her dad was the killer. Her story is very sad.
Same. This has to be one of the most disturbing cases in history! Knowing what happened to her body i just can't wrap my head around it to this day. All the evidence points directly at George. The psycho has taken the truth with him to his grave.

George Hodel was most likely the murderer, a surgeon (and apparently a serial killer) who knew how to precision-cut the spine between L1-L2 and neatly cut at the end of the duodenum.
In 2003, it was revealed in notes from the 1949 grand jury report that investigators had wiretapped George Hodel's home and obtained recorded conversation of him with an unidentified visitor, saying: "Supposin' I did kill the Black Dahlia. They couldn't prove it now. They can't talk to my secretary because she's dead. They thought there was something fishy. Anyway, now they may have figured it out. Killed her. Maybe I did kill my secretary." ~ Wikipedia
The Black Dahlia unsolved murder is so sad 😥. It really scares me what happened to her. I hope the more her story is told, one day she will have resolution 😊♥️
My mom worked at a newspaper in LA when the murder occurred. The guys in the newsroom obtained pictures of the killing. She told me the cuts were very clean.
The clean cuts were what made the investigators suspect that a doctor or surgeon committed the murder. Not even a butcher could have made neat clean cuts.

One Thanksgiving, my grandparents had a guest for dinner. Robert Hansen. He was the youngest detective from LAPD to investigate The Black Dalia murder and I heard the story from his own lips. He said, "I know it was the doctor, but he had friends on the force, and we kept hitting dead ends." Keep up the good work, I have met some other strange characters & I can be found. KI6VST

Although he was never formally charged in the crime, George Hodel came to wider attention after his death when he was accused by his son, LAPD homicide detective Steve Hodel, of killing Short and committing several additional murders.
Prior to the Black Dahlia case, Hodel was suspected, but not charged, in the death of his secretary, Ruth Spaulding;
and was accused of raping his own daughter, Tamar, but acquitted.
Hodel fled the country several times, and lived in the Philippines between 1950 and 1990.
Additionally, his son Steve Hodel has cited his father's training as a surgeon as circumstantial evidence.

Interesting video! My mom and her sister lived in Hollywood for a short time in 1947 and worked as telephone operators across the street from one of the studios. On breaks they would watch the stars cars come and go from the lot.

This has always been the most intriguing unsolved mystery to me, even though the evidence shown that George Hodel was most likely the real murderer of Elizabeth Short. To have been there and see this in person all these decades ago would have been jaw dropping to say the least. Such a tragic end to a woman who just wanted to live in the city of angels
Of the most popular unsolved murder mysteries I put Elizabeth Short in one of the top 3. It's always the same with these old mysteries, no shortage of perfect suspects but the evidence will likely never be there to prove who the murderer actually is beyond all doubt. Hodel is a top suspect but I don't believe the picture that he had was Elizabet Short. The picture is what started what originally aroused his son's suspicion. That surgeon that lived close by is also a great suspect but unless someone finds some concrete piece of evidence I think this one will remain a mystery.
I think the Hodel theory has been discredited- he was basically a BS artist who wanted attention.

Hello, Russell here, commenting from my daughters account, John Marshall High, is where I met my wife, back in 1973.
Another interesting story, which I didn't verify, is that Walt Disney had a home right across the street from Marshall, apparently it was used as his studio.

I actually visited Norton Ave as well 2 yrs ago where her body was found. Its so awesome to see the actual spot and think about how much has changed in terms of landscape and scenery. I went to the George Hodel house thats styled after a Mayan temple, but wasnt able to go in....only took pictures from outside the gate. I've also visited her grave in Oakland CA since I already live in San Jose...i figured might as well make the trip there and see her final resting place.

My Mother was a home health aide. She took care of an old lady who was friends with Elizabeth before she moved from Massachusetts to L. A. She said she was a very sweet girl who wanted to be a movie star. She also said she had a tough childhood.
I'm sure it was a doctor that murdered her. She didn't deserve what happened to her.

This story has always fascinated me, and I can't think of anyone better to take us on a tour of the locations associated with it. Very informative, as always. ..The doctor was probably the killer, but it's too bad we'll never know for sure.

Great video. I used to go to Astroburger a lot and it was not vegetarian lol. They had awesome burgers. Also, I used to go to Florentine Gardens when it was a punk/rock venue in the early 80s. Avalon Attractions booked a ton of groups there.

i’ve always been fascinated with cases like these but for some reason the black dahlia , emmitt till and so on i’ve just sat and watched MANY documentaries and stories about them … doesn’t matter if it’s the same ones i’m just drawn to these ! thought about just dropping everything and doing what these youtubers are doing .
OMG, I'm interested in the same cases!! Fun fact: I was raised in Clarksdale, Mississippi which is about a 30 minute drive from Money where the incident in the store took place. In 1955, my mom was 5 years old, living in Clarksdale. She says she remembers when Emmett went missing and was found, because everyone in the black community was talking about it! She said that she remembered my grandfather telling my grandma that, "they'll never see that boy again!!"

I have read a lot about this case and have a couple of books. From what I've read, the woman that discovered her body, was not walking her dog but was pushing her child in a baby buggy or a stroller. I groove she was headed down a little neighborhood store to get a few things.
I've always been fascinated by how, under all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, there lies a more sinister side to the city. People from all over, travel here to make their dreams come true.

Ive heard so many people are leaving or stuck homeless because its so expensive. Its for sure a dream vacation but id be too scared to live there. Seems like alot of bad happened in LA.

My wife's grandfather (Will Fowler) was the first person on the scene "He was a reporter for The Los Angeles Examiner in January 1947 when he found the body of a 22-year-old woman, Elizabeth Short"

The Black Dahlia murder has always fascinated me. This was extreme, but it shows that many naive girls that come to Hollywood dreaming of stardom end up in tragic situation. Also, a friend of mine was writing a script for a movie based on the murder and we visited these locations as well as the Biltmore. When he was in the middle of it, he got word that two other movies we starting production based on the murder, so he scrapped it.

I've always been intrigued by this case! I really like how you showed the before/after scenes.
There's also something else you forgot to mention. She was a frequent patron of the Cecil Hotel. Which in itself has some bad karma to it, and her body was found not far from the hotel as well, and right after she left the hotel bar. That's another theory. Not sure if it's actually true or not, but if you could check it out maybe make a video of that so we can see. Because I personally don't want to have false thoughts in my head.
All The DT LA hotels have a dark history even the newer ones. Also in Vegas all the people die in them all the time.
The last time she was seen alive was leaving the Biltmore hotel
She had drinks at the cecil hotel before but she was last seen at the biltmore hotel. She visited the Cecil less frequently then the biltmore.
She wasnt at the Cecil hotel, she was at the Biltmore hotel and she was found quite a few miles from that area.
Liz was last seen at the Biltmore hotel.

I have to bring this up because of the black dahlia. I’m sure you know the story of Dr George Hodel. His son was a detective for years wrote the best book with definitive proof that his psycho dad did this crime and many others. I’ve been following this for years and years. The book shows it all. The Hodel family also has a podcast talking about George and knowing what he’s done. Too bad that ass never got charged with anything
I believe in God and only He can judge but I bet the doctor may regret what he did in life now.
I read Steve Hodel's book and it was great and well researched! Even though he got the pictures wrong, he put forth enough details to make a convincing case against his dad! I've heard about this other doctor, a Dr. Bailey. Haven't found much information on him.

You probably know this by now, but that first building was originally RKO Studios. You can see the RKO logo globe at the top corner minus the radio tower. RKO was sold to Desilu who later sold it to Paramount. Nice job on those then and now photos at the high school. You never know what to expect from security; pleasant conversation at Disney and the old Monogram location, chased off at General Services Studios, and invited in at the old Hollywood home for girls and the Melody Ranch. Hope to cross trails with you some day.

I've never seen the actual sites of the Dahlia case, and I like how you point out that so much has changed since 1947. I remember reading that in 1947, you could find yourself in the middle of the desert if you drove 15 or 20 minutes in any direction. Whoever put her body at that spot wanted her to be found. And I especially like how you've been respectful to your subjects. Keep up the great work!

Yeah just hearing the basics of her story tells you she was the typical stupid lost girl going through the motions. Meet them all the time as an adult. Doesn't mean they deserve to be murdered for being naive. Did that allow her to put herself in a no return situation, or was it someone her knew her and took advantage? We'll never know!

I thought that in a documentary there was a short clip of her in a movie. Not well known one, and she was on for seconds with no dialog.
Right. She was said to be an "aspiring actress," but there are no known records of her going on auditions or even getting none speaking roles. She was often broke and dated as often as she did, to get a hot meal on a date!

How weird to know that she was in there four decades earlier. I learned of her story probably in the late 70s while in my teens. It always stayed with me because I grew up in Los Angeles not far from where she was found

Imagine having a house built on that spot where her body was found, or buying it years later and not knowing. I had read that Dr. George Hodel was a prime suspect. I think his son even investigated it and came to that conclusion as well.

Alot of old schools in this country have been remodeled to some extent but this school in Los Angeles has stayed classic to a large extent and has appeared in alot of movies and must be at least one hundred years old
They also filmed scenes from "A Nightmare on Elm Street," and the Scott Baio comedy, "Zapped," at this high school.

At the beginning of your video to the left of Astro Burger used to be a Record Company named "Pasha Records" It had its own recording studio. That is where Quiet Riot recorded Their 6-Million selling album "Metal Health". Other acts that recorded there: Cheap Trick, Ted Nugent, WASP, Eddie Money , Heart, Little River Band, Beach Boys, Vanilla Fudge, Billy Thorpe, and many more. It closed in 1990.

Gower Gulch at Sunset & Gower is where all the real cowboys in the 40s and 50s would hang out waiting for bit parts or extra gigs on western’s.
The LAPD interviewed close to 100 suspects, including about a dozen false confessors. From the precision way, she was mutilated, they concluded the killer had surgical training.
