Large males of many species commonly spar to test their skills and strength, this also determines a pecking order in many instances. Less frequently females will partake, and humans play this game too. It usually starts in youth between more or less evenly matched peers. When there is fighting over food, territory, or mating "rights", one will usually back off, but when neither backs off it can get deadly serious. Ironically, it's not always the largest or strongest that wins, it's a combination of all that and sheer aggression and wits.

A coincidence to be sure, but def not a "mere" coincidence. If the bear is intimidated there are probably only a handful of things it will do. Chances are pretty good the dude gets it

It was amazing that the assistant told the bear to slow down and it listened. But when he told the polar bear to sit down, it actually sat down. It was so funny that I laughed outloud. 🤣 😂 😆 Maybe, he's like the Bear Whisperer.

@@pascalsurlaroute No, I am not joking. I myself have a way with some animals and they have listened to me. But I wouldn't take any chance getting anywhere near a polar bear. But even if it's post edited, I don't care. It was enjoyable to watch.

Polar bears are huge carnivores and perfectly adapted to their rigid habitat, they have more muscle and strength than you might think and seeing two males fighting means witnessing a clash between giants. in fighting polar bears stand on their hind legs and push each other trying to bring down their opponent and use their powerful jaws to block each other. So if he has the opponent's head in his mouth he knows that he will not be able to use his jaws on him and this is the benefit of their great intelligence.

Bear 1 (Michael): “Why’d you wanna cross the sea so bad Tommy? You know there’s nothing there for you” he commented assuredly.
Bear 2 (Thomas): “when this sea freezes over I’m gonna eat every seal in sight, find me a beautiful mate and have me the strongest of cubs. They’ll be running circles around you saying all things silly like Uncle Michael lost his icicles” he boldly replied.
“Just you see” he murmured under his breath, shooing away any remaining doubt.
