My Mom made this for us back in the 1960’s. She didn’t use the egg, tomato sauce or onion. She just slapped the ground beef on the bread on a metal cookie sheet, then broiled it for about ten minutes using the top coils of the oven. We added salt and ketchup and woofed it down! We called it hamburger toast. Good stuff, Maynard!
Yup, our mom made them for us since the mid 60’s and it’s been a Christmas Eve tradition ever since. I’m making up a few dozen right now for this evening. We always broil ours as well. To this day we still call them ‘those hamburger thingies’.
My grandma learned a recipe like this from the parents of one of her kids' friends. I think it was my dad. She made it for me several times as well and I plan on making it a family recipe when I have kids.
I am on maintenance having lost 65 lbs 27 inches this year. I eat two meals 2 eggs and sl weight watchers 50 cal toast am and pm 4 ounces ground beef, cremini mushrooms, sweet onion done on 1 sl weight watchers toasted bread. I use mustard and a wee bit of Parm melted too. Incredible treat. I like salmon, skinless chicken breast and pork too.

This is awesome👍 I will have to try to make it without onions, eggs and tomato sauce. Thanks for sharing your story🙂
