Tropical storm may form in Gulf, head toward Florida

- FOX 13 Meteorologist Dave Osterberg says the tropics are heating up, but he is only concerned about one area that will impact Bay Area weather next week. He says there is an area of low pressure in the western Caribbean that will meander over the Yucatan and move into the Gulf of Mexico, where the water is very warm making it the ideal climate for strengthening. Osterberg says the good news is there is a wind shear over the Gulf that will slow its development. However, he adds that most of the computer models show that it will become a tropical storm and stay a tropical storm that will bring a lot of rain to the west coast of Florida on Tuesday and Wednesday. If it does earn a name, the storm will be called Idalia.

What people are really scared about is that this system could become a cat 4 I remember seeing that Harvey was projected to make landfall as a cat 1 and after it turned into a cat 4
Both Michael and Ian did the same thing. Due to the gulf being hotter than it's ever been, it becomes extremely difficult to predict hurricanes. Having been in Michael when it made landfall, every potential storm that could hit Florida makes me extremely nervous.

@@specialk2514 yes but the comment was responding to a video that talks about a Tropical Storm or even a Hurricane developing and threatening Florida. Context matters. Hence the “Nice!” which is a response to the video title.

My good friend in Ft. Myers told me she "just finished" with her repairs from last summer. I asked her if she had food, water, boards for the windows, sandbags, and a "go bag" with important documents? Nope. She is "hoping" it won't happen again and it was quite a few years between last summers hurricane and "Charlie" which devastated her Ft. Myers home. Sigh.

If they can build airplanes that can withstand 500+ mph winds, they can build homes that withstand any tornado. With all the technology and resources available, it's disgraceful that we still have to make a fuss and be scared of hurricanes and tornadoes. That fear should by now be a thing of the long past. It's time we make some serious changes in this so-called "greatest country" in the world.

So what you’re watching other news stations to find out what’s going on so you can broadcast it on yours. Years ago they had a real meteorologist. For example, oldies radio 101 out of Miami Florida ran with a sketch that said we were supposed to expect snow flurries, one year and every station follow the same suit. Why don’t you go out and get a real job. McDonald’s hiring.

@richardmenchaca8010 don't let people trick you the ocean temperature has risen so that creates different movements of storms that's all the hotter it gets the faster the wind will blow it's 450 degrees below zero in space outside of the sun light
@richardmenchaca8010 science tells me the planet rotation will speed up to offset the wind speed changing the way electrons acts along with gravity and the weight of matter

Ryan Hall isn’t the ECMWF Model. Also I do watch him sometimes having an interest in weather but he does overhype weather in a way that I think isn’t helpful. There is nothing wrong with him, it’s just that he does more overhyping than actual good forecasts. For instance last winter he said much of the Northern and Eastern US would see extremely cold temperatures and crazy amounts of snowfall. We ended up having the warmest and least snowiest on record here in New Jersey and surrounding areas.
It’s best to get weather forecasts from official sources such local News meteorologist (I live in NJ so I tune into NYC stations and I watch people like Lee Goldberg or Lonnie Quinn) or I tune into NOAA for info about climate and the NWS for info about weather. They are primary sources that can be trusted, not some guy on the internet.
Again, you watch Hall if you want, but if you want official news about say a Hurricane, I suggest NOAA’s National Hurricane Center or people such as Mark Suddath on Hurricane Track or Levi Cowman on Tropicaltidbits. Meteo Mark and the Weather Channel are also reliable.
@@TNTmedia1010when I mean no global model is perfect. While the ECMWF (EURO) does a better job at forecasting Tropical Cyclone tracks (examples being Sandy or Joaquin) than say the GFS (American) model. When it comes to predicting development, looking non-Hurricane global forecast models to predict local weather is tricky. It’s like using a Global model to forecast a tornado outbreak.
Again, models are guidance, not a weather forecast, and looking at only one model can be misleading.
