Tropical Storm Idalia path & forecast track: Monday midday

- FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber continues to watch Tropical Storm Idalia as it begins to strengthen. He says it is currently a tropical storm, but it is expected to become a hurricane Monday night or Tuesday morning and intensify as it moves along warm waters in the Gulf of Mexico. A hurricane warning is in place from Longboat Key through the Big Bend Area. As of 11 a.m., Idalia has wind of 65 miles an hour. He cautions Floridians to pay attention to the forecast cone and not the center line of the storm because any jog in the forecast will change the impact to the Bay Area. Southern counties on the west coast of Florida will begin to see tropical storm-force winds beginning Tuesday evening, while the rest of the area experience the winds Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning. A storm surge of 4-7 feet is also likely in Tampa Bay.

What people don't realize is that there in no where to go for most of the people in the predicted landfall areas.... panic has already set in at stores and is building on the roads.
I have never seen a Hurricane go exactly how it is forecast, it always goes one way or the other.
This is brand new with the warmer waters this season!

Yep, that's what people do when they predict a snow storm up here in PA. They go buy like they are gonna be snowed in for weeks. As if we haven't had snowy winters before.
And the worst is how people act Iike they can still drive their normal speed on the road even if they can't see what's 50 ft ahead of them. 🙄🤦♀️ I aIways warn my sons, it's not YOUR driving I'm worried about. People lose their minds.
7-11 foot storm surge. Get away from the coast. Once it's even with Fort Myers you can head southeast and avoid the storm but wait until it's past Fort Myers and Okeechobee first.
Those in the Naples, Fort Myers area can head for Miami if they need too. That's my thinking anyways.

This storm is moving at a good forward speed! There’s a big difference with the storm that is hardly moving and sitting over an area for days like Ian did.Very different storm scenario.

No matter what Jacksonville, FL and Savannah, GA will be receiving plenty of wind and rain meaning power outages..you probably don't need to leave, you have days of knowledge to prepare, ..food, batteries, flashlights, candles, etc...if your home is low, better use sandbags.
