14:51 to 22:12 (approximately) is footage from part 4 so don't panic thinking you're losing your mind. Lol Yes, you've most likely seen that section before. I and others were all thinking 'Haven't I seen this?" :-) My favorite find of the day was the books! As a child, I loved the Pooh stories and as a teen enjoyed the Avonlea tv series and books. As a young adult, I was able to travel from the U.S. to Prince Edward Island and see it for myself. Lovely place!

I'M 87 years old so I thought the GRIM REAPER was coming to get me when I realized that I had already seen that part before......Alex never messes-up doing the videos.......
Alex you should have kept the Dr. pill bottles in the canisters and the other stuff you through away. People buy them for movie props to go in Apothecary, pharmacy store scenes
There are so many items I saw you put into the trash bin that I wished you saved! Printed promo paper items, brand new box of tongue depressors and slides, the little bottles etc. They may not be quick high priced selling items for you but there are plenty of vintage collectors who would enjoy these items. 😢😢
I can’t believe you threw away that little case, full of tiny plastic, cowboys and horses. Those are precious. I sure hope you can dig those out of the trash. You’re breaking my heart.
WOW you could have gotten money for those glass medication bottles. Especially bottles with no mold lines in them from pouring them when made. I LOVE THEM!!! Also fun putting flower cuttings in during the summer, in window sils, a little food coloring in the water 💐. Fun watching you. I do get anxiety at times because such BIG jobs can be overwhelming! Great work and GREAT help from everyone!!! I've seen SO MANY families just throw everything out when loved ones pass away without even looking through items!!!! It's INSANE!!! That's why at a young 60 I've downsized and given my 37 and 25 year young children whatever they wanted already!!! All my beautiful wooden furniture pieces, China, etc. Western Upstate New York Nurse here 💕
I'm a junkjournaler and I have to tell you, everytime you threw out a piece of those vintage papers, a tear came to my eye! What incredible work you do! Have been binge watching since I found your chanel a month ago. Love it!!!
That coffee table isn't as bad as you think. That haziness is just in the varnish. A lot of times you can rub it out with wet cigarette ashes or fine sandpaper. If not, you can pour rubbing alcohol over the area. It will dissolve the varnish so you can scrape it off and won't disturb any original stain. One it's clean and dry, use a lint free rag to rub a new layer of varnish on. Good as new. It's a nice table. I would try to sell it to someone who does refinishing or a DIY person.
Those old tea cup and saucers can be worth a bit of money and sought after by collectors. Even one servings. The entry in the diary is a poem, one of my favorite ones . The Doctor 's pill containers and such would make a great set to sell, apothecary /medical stuff sells good here. So interesting all the things you find in a clean out. I have taught myself to restore old photos and have gained a great appreciation of them and the history behind the photos people and places. I wish I could see the photos and family names, when I find sets in a yard sell, I scan and upload files onto family search to add them to family trees so they have photos and such for the people. I do love preserving history so our kids can learn about the past.
I looked it up and the poem in the diary is called Antigonish by William Hughes Mearns, written in 1899. It became a hit song called The Little Man Who wasn't There. I'm sure I will be one of many who will Google it!
Just coming to say that Bowie wrote and Nirvana (later covered) that song. Gauging from the age of the stuff in the desk I'm assuming someone listened to Bowie and liked that line.
That line of poem from the Antigonish was used in the movie "Identity" starring John Cusack, 2003. The first time I heard that quirky line in the movie, I loved it and had to check it out. I've been sharing that poem with many people over the years! Scared the crap out of 10 year old niece and nephew. They were scared to walk up the stairs to bed! They did survive and are much older now, lol.
I didn't know until today that it was Canadian. My Scottish Grandfather used to recite it as a nonsense rhyme, so I'd thought all this time it was Robbie Burns or some such.
WONDERFUL all that you're donating 🙌. Melissa... The Tea Cups you can Super Glue the Cup TILTED then use metal hanger with a Shepard Hook from the tree and put jelly/jam in it for the Humming Birds!!! Or just Bird Food. They look pretty and the Birds Love it!!! I saw it at a friend's one day and made several. Tons of Hummingbirds eating the jam!!!
Please don’t dump that beautifully vanity. It would make a fabulous project piece to renovate. There are many DIY refinishers who’d love that. I love that set! 😊
Hi😊...whenever you find old art supplies, keep them. I am an artist and I know people are buying vintage paint, crayons, pencils. They can be pretty valuable. Love your channel. Have a nice day ❤.
Clearing the Dresser and Vanity Drawers. Was surprised to see you taking out the little boxes, paint cases and those boxes for wooden matches from the drawers and just tossing them in the trash can, without a peak inside.. Sometimes even the old matchboxes have coins and tokens, rather then matches. It pays to pop all those little boxes open on the way to the trash.
Thx. this was fun. .. it crushed my heart though, when you threw away, without a second thought, the "well used" water color set box. This is the kind of thing i would have jumped up and down of joy about, if I would have found it in a donation pile. ^^ It seemed to be a good quality water color set as well. They are really worth a lot to someone who likes to paint and who's in a "no / low budget" situation. .. especially those small color boxes, which are very neat for "urban sketching" tours, because they are small and well to handle on the go.
I agree. I collect watercolor tins and take them out on urban sketching or plein air studies. I fill with my own paints too. It's amazing how Reeves, Winsor Newton and Binney and Smith brands with vintage paints are of decent quality. Plus the graphics on some are fantastic! I have about 25 different tins dating back to the late 1890's.
He threw away two sets of Reeves watercolour pans... pity...as an artist, that one hurt!...he could have made up a box of smaller items (that probably couldn't have been sold separately )but altogether in one box would have sold well...too late now..
It's amazing to me that a house on the other side of the world, would contain so many things that my mother and father had in their home in Australia. Also that Edwardian Lady looks just like my sister.
That set with the yellow casserole is the largest, then half that size in blue, then two smaller red ones. I got my set in 1962 as a wedding present. I still have the yellow casserole ond one red one. It was a very nice and well appreciated gift.
Mt aunt always kept a can of Avon bayberry spray in her bathroom, to keep things fresh. Lol The metal object with the suction cups that you found is a very early car top carrier for luggage. My parent's had one in the 60's for our old pink rambler.
Thank you for doing these clean ups! I have been watching your channel since the first Potter's House video. My only comment comes as a musician and music educator. I'm guessing that the instruments have already gone to auction, however, I recommend donating them to local colleges or universities in the future. Most schools have a music education program that has to teach future educators all the instrument groups. Having been through one of these programs I have noticed the lack of instruments being both a major headache and concern of the department. The violin may look in rough shape, but all it needs is a new bridge, $30-50, and a new set of strings, which would be $50-100. The guitar seems to be in good working condition. Maybe some lube for the tuners and definitely change the strings. I am curious for your next couple videos and seeing how the auction goes. Hope you are having a wonderful day.
That coffee table at 26:25 is beautiful, if I lived in Canada I would gladly drive to pick it up. It's not in great shape NOW but my goodness, it would be gorgeous after a little refurbishing :)
The paint boxes would sell.. artists would actually pay pretty nicely for them, especially with the paint still in them, even well used. But they can be reused for new water colors. Also, are there any colleges around there with like carpentry majors? Instead of throwing away older wooden furniture, maybe they'd take it as a donation to fix up .. as a class on restoration or something???
Looked again... noooooo another watercolor tin. You can still use them... or the tin for new watercolors... THAT US GOLD YOU TROW AWAY... ALEXANDER... I WILL COME AFTER YOU FOR THAT...
As a collector of vintage women's bits and bobs, I'd definitely bid on a lot of just misc beauty/women's stuff. Spent makeup compacts (like the metal ones and lipstick tubes), hair accessories, random non-precious metal charms, etc. like dump it all in a box and put it up for sale haha. Just for future reference 😊
That hair curler with the vintage box illustration is in great shape and so collectible. Alex needs to bring Melissa with him more often so he doesn’t miss the things women collect!
My mom found a really old diary in the trash and added to it giving historical updates. I found it years after she passed away and I wrote in it updating it again. It is an interesting read for any historian.
On the internet I was looking up a book and I found an exact copy of the giraffe It was a decoration for a cake! The side without the ear actually had tiny flowers attached to it!
Really love the special care you take as you sort through this place and marvel at the discoveries. There are some beautiful pieces in this place. As an old book collector, those were especially some thrilling finds. Great work!

Dang Alex you impress me. Such a good man doing the right thing for the right reasons. Please pay off your compound and cars you're going to keep. My Mum has a seahorse brooch and it has a real Ruby for its eye so I guess that may be a Ruby as well in the one you found.Enjoying watching you going through this 🏠
My mom had a pair of seahorse screw-back earrings and a matching brooch. As I child I used to think they were real seahorses at one time. 😯 But they were plastic.
I wonder if the jumbled nature of everything in the basement could mean that whenever the owner needed to do some quick housework, they got a box and dumped everything that was on counters and cluttering the living spaces into the box and threw it in the basement and then ran the vacuum around, just in time for guests to arrive.
I wouldn't be surprised. The "I'll probably need this later but it doesn't have a designated place" spot used to be the drawer under my bed 😂 I couldn't imagine having a whole basement that nobody used! It'd be so cluttered haha
Great family team work! Alex you work so well on your own as well, to see your management skills in these situations is commendable , logical. Appreciate your donation, the Canadian way :) cannot wait Melissa for the gardening to start. Peace and Love to all
So, I would start collecting all of the useful items you come across, and make yourself a "house cleaning kit" include lightbulbs, garbage bags, papertowels, totes boxes, cleaning supplies, gloves masks... you might have already such a kit, but I have a dedicated kit that goes with me when i pick up auction items from a house and another when I repair furniture for people
Keep the Singer Featherweight! Your girls are crafters and these wonderful machines not only are a handy size they are easy to tune and repair yourself!
In good shape! The case was in trouble but it can be repaired or there's varios options to buy a replacement. I love mine and their value will increase faster than a computerized! Not that I don't love my Elna, Ella.
Another fantastic video Alex & family! I had a thought that the basement room with the antique photo album on the stand on the dresser might have originally been “grandma’s room”, maybe when the kids were young? So many of the things in there seem like things kept together by one person, a generation older than the lady who last lived in the house. Just a hunch. Really enjoyable, and sad all the same.
Hopefully you didn't toss out the Doctor's medication vials (the ones in the metal containers). Those should go with the rest of the medical supplies. $$$ People collect Pharmacy related things and I bet those would sell.
Nooooooo! Did you throw away the Reeves watercolor paint tin? I'm crying if you did. I collect vintage paint tins. Sobbing. And the pencils......no no no, don't throw them away. I'm going to go sit in the corner and pout. I can't believe it....you threw the other watercolor tin away, SOB, SOB, SOB. Pick them out of the garbage and send to me....please.
Enjoy your content. I really enjoy the clean outs I spend alot of the time telling you that's not trash someone in the crafting world would use that. Then I know just processing is very time consuming and not worth it for the volume you deal with. Just know you have at least one viewer that cringes every time you throw away a stack of paper, documents or mail and that is pretty much any conditions it's in. Thank you for sharing your work with us Happy Hunting.
I have to remember we don't have smell-o-vision. With incontinent mice running around everywhere, those papers have no telling how much pee, poop, mold, and mildew on them. I work in a museum with boxes of old papers and such. It's a constant battle deciding to try to keep or have to toss.
Awesome stuff !! Funny how the spare tire for the trailer is in the front, to where if you needed it you'd have to empty the whole thing out to get to it lol
Alex if you found that desk on a bookshelf look for the book Hitty (probably and orange book). Since she was a doll collector maybe that is Hitty's desk and is very collectible.

Next time don’t throw away the vintage art supplies. People collect them!
Maple Leafs lighter is at least couple hundred Canadian, one place showed $471. Super find!
I can’t believe you threw out those vintage Christmas candles!!
I know!!! Those would have sold at auction.
That Maple Leafs lighter is a keeper! It's items like that one that keep your motivation up.
Great family team work! Alex you work so well on your own as well, to see your management skills in these situations is commendable , logical. Appreciate your donation, the Canadian way :) cannot wait Melissa for the gardening to start. Peace and Love to all
Love that miniature desk. 😊
i love that red stool in the kitchen! my grandma had one. she also had the kitchen table like that.
So, I would start collecting all of the useful items you come across, and make yourself a "house cleaning kit" include lightbulbs, garbage bags, papertowels, totes boxes, cleaning supplies, gloves masks... you might have already such a kit, but I have a dedicated kit that goes with me when i pick up auction items from a house and another when I repair furniture for people
I a soapmaker and mice love soap. Especially if it's made from natural fats and oils.
Yes they do. I had a problem with mice last year and they ate a whole bar of Ivory soap.
Winchester poster cool. The art is beautiful 😮
I love when youoôí, it’s fun to see… it’s great, your! whole the family is 😅great, family is so helpful.
Keep the Singer Featherweight! Your girls are crafters and these wonderful machines not only are a handy size they are easy to tune and repair yourself!
They run at least 350.00
In good shape! The case was in trouble but it can be repaired or there's varios options to buy a replacement. I love mine and their value will increase faster than a computerized! Not that I don't love my Elna, Ella.
Another fantastic video Alex & family! I had a thought that the basement room with the antique photo album on the stand on the dresser might have originally been “grandma’s room”, maybe when the kids were young? So many of the things in there seem like things kept together by one person, a generation older than the lady who last lived in the house. Just a hunch. Really enjoyable, and sad all the same.
Refinish the old coffee table!
If they are spray cans from the seventies, then they also have freons inside. Which makes them hazardous waste.
My Mom used to buy tons of Avon Bayberry spray so she could use it all year, they only sold it at Christmas time ❤
Good video. God bless your family 👪. ❤❤❤
Can't wait to see what's in the attic. 😮
I have a small desk exactly like the one you went through. It belonged to my husband's grandmother.
Oh, all of the fabric! That makes my heart hurt
I hope you kept the glass medicine bottles in the metal protectors. Very unusual to see.
Rum and butter ❤ and your comedy and puns are great!! 😂 Great job!!
Glad your family helped ya out. Hard work. Proud of all of you.
Awesome stuff !! Funny how the spare tire for the trailer is in the front, to where if you needed it you'd have to empty the whole thing out to get to it lol
You have such a good looking family, Alex.
I agree completely! Love how Jason is now well taller than Steven... Both so handsome and Abigail is such a pretty young lady!
Clean outs are my favorite videos!! So interesting the things u find!! 🤗
Alex if you found that desk on a bookshelf look for the book Hitty (probably and orange book). Since she was a doll collector maybe that is Hitty's desk and is very collectible.
I love all your treasure hunting videos. Your house clean out series is really interesting😊
