As has been mentioned: obviously, Blitz has his own emotions he's not been processing properly, but you're one of the few reacters that have also pointed out that Stolas has his own set of issues as well. I feel that Stolas entered this relationship originally because he was SO emotionally starved that he unhealthily latched onto Blitz once he reappeared in his life. We've never actually *seen* Blitz do, well, *anything* with Stolas beyond the sex. We've never really seen him (legitimately) take Stolas out on a date, watch a movie, even spend time with him /just because/. Even as Blitz may be repressing his own emerging emotions, he still has not actually been PUTTING anything into this relationship beyond sex, so of *course* that just reinforces his idea that it's all just transactional. Stolas, on the other hand, based the relationship on a starving desire for connection that he simply was never able to get from his uncaring father or his arranged wife. Stolas basically "created" a relationship that was not really there, once the first (only?) friend he had as a child came back into his life after 25 years. That simply isn't a healthy approach either, and is an equally flimsy foundation to base a relationship upon. I don't know how all this will work out in the end, but what I'm hoping does NOT happen is for Blitz to realize his problem, and then everything is just hunky-dory from there on out. Stolas needs to work through his own abandonment and emotional starvation issues *as well* if this relationship has any real future. I'd love to see them ultimately realize that they BOTH were basing this relationship on unsupportable expectations, and would love to see them go "you know what, let's start all this over again from the beginning. How about we get a coffee tomorrow and just, you know, get to know each other?"
What's even worse for Stolas is that it isn't just that Blitz reappeared and started feeding his abandonment issues, it's that Blitz was - genuinely - is only friend. Back when they were children, back before Blitz was pile-drived (pile-driven?) with guilt, I feel like there was a genuine connection between them: a genuine friendship that - admittedly - began as a forced lie but, by the end of it, as kids are wont to do, they got to talking, and... they ended up being a bit vulnerable with each other; sharing their futures and offering support. For a brief flicker of time, Blitz was a genuine friend to Stolas. So to have him come back AND - seemingly - want to fuck would be a double-whammy for Stolas: my friend can now be my lover. What could be more perfect? But like you said, those were rose-colored glasses. Stolas hasn't changed, but Blitz definitely has; he is VERY far from the child he once was. Stolas's friend is gone, and Stolas's lover was never there in the first place. I wonder if that is part of Blitz's ire toward Stolas; Blitz sees Stolas as the same person he knew as a child. Wholly unchanged. Still wealthy, still intelligent, still powerful; the only care he has is his divorce and - frankly - that divorce was a long time coming. Blitz would, of course, see Stolas as having a blessed life; oh, woe is he who had a predictably failed relationship (meanwhile Blitz trying not to think about all of his failed relationships). And that would only justify his attitude: the only reason Stolas could be upset is if he is suffering a minor inconvenience. He... can't possibly be suffering from honest heartbreak.
You’re so right. Idk I’d actually be down for Stolas to date around a bit. His two relationships being an arranged marriage and contractual sex has not given the guy a clue how you’re actually supposed to act when with someone, though he’s certainly ingested enough fiction to have some idea of what he WANTS it to be. (Not just the telenovas, but you can’t tell me Stolas didn’t read novels imagining true love during his marriage. He has some beautiful idea of what love should be, and if reality doesn’t match that, then he doesn’t know how to handle it.) I’d be really happy if Stolas could try going out with other people, build his own friendships, work on combating his loneliness, get to know himself outside of the Goetia name, and then if he still wants to be with Blitz and Blitz is willing to try, then they’d be in a much healthier starting point. Thank you for your comment, it sums up so much I didn’t think of to say!
@@kyratries I absolutely agree with both of you, both Stolas and Bltiz have to work and their personal issues and heal independently before becoming an actual “couple”, as there are problems not only in their communication and relationships, but in their perception of themselves and the world, a lot of deep rooted issues that are present outside of the Stolitz “situationship”. And Stolas definetly did not have enough experience with romantic relationships outside of fiction and his lack of socialisation and experience really shows
@@kyratries Not only won't anyone tell you he hasn't read romance novels, I'll point that that in the episode where Blitzo tries to swipe he book, the very first thing Stolas does the instant the door closes is directly invoke the classic romance novel ravishment trope. So yeah, literally everything this man understands about romance was set by fiction, and fiction that he may not have really considered all that deeply, especially given his shaky grasp on the existence of power dynamics.
Right?!?! Like I love the people who add to the story, if the vid is barely longer than the original, I often skip, because that’s just called group watching, and if I’m gonna rewatch the video with no commentary, I’m giving that view to Viv, so she knows I still love her.
Since no one else has pointed this out yet, this song was actually a fan song that Vivienne liked so much she decided to make it canon. The original writer is credited in the credits
Hey Kyra dont be afraid to pause This 30 min reaction/analysis is a treat! We came to watch you talk so dont shut up 🫶 Also I like that you talked about Blitz not being ready for a relationship at 32:00 It really shows in ep 8 and 9 👀
This song became extremely important because we see Stolas is realizing a lit of things he has done wrong. He still has room for improvement, but he's two steps ahead of Blitzø in becoming better. When you see the next two chapters that will be very evident. But Blitzø, being slower in getting better, is still on the right path. They both really need to get individually growth before they can be together. Because there's a lot going on with each of them and the baggage is too heavy to push all that into a relationship.
Thank you for the video, I adore this music video so much! 1:29- 2:00 I love this section so much, Stolas’ voice is so gentle, yet emotional… 4:04 I’m so glad Stolas shows that he does try to understand Blitzø and that he knows that there is more going on… 6:23 relatable lmao, I’m still not sure if I like Stolas or Fizz more 7:43 I’m sure he does not and that’s tragic. So much of their problems would’ve been solved if they understood others problems and traumas better. 11:46 sadly he does, considering his self esteem. 14:54 oh yes, especially considering how much he “insulted” Fizz about having a “sugar daddy” at first (oh, you yourself mentioned it later in the video:D) 22:19 yes, it’s a good start… 31:25 I’m so glad I believe that! It is hard to fault either one of them, they simultaneously are both “at fault” and are not “guilty”. Can’t wait for your reaction to episodes 8 and 9 as you understanding of Stolitz is similar to mine
Stolas definitely doesnt know about "The Accident" with Blitz and Fizz. Since in the episode where Stolas went to Ozzie to ask for the crystal, he asked Oz why Fiz hated Blitz, to where Oz replied "not my story to tell". So Stolas 100% doesnt know.
I've see this innumerable times and watched lot of reactions - but there is one part that always hits me hard "I will try to make amends, for making you means to an ends!"
I wonder if Stolas, subconsciously, has always been aware that the contract was wrong. Obviously, he's only now admitting it to himself, but given his position of power, he could've asked for much more than once a month. Via is with her mother on weekends; Stolas easily could've demanded Blitzø be his plaything all weekend and Blitzø still would've said yes because he needed the book. I'd love to know if maybe it was a guilty conscience that made him pick only full moon nights...
I think Stolas is wearing a romper haha Also just a reminder Kyra even besides the Stolitz communication problem Blitz still has his self hatred/low self worth going on So its gonna be awhile before they get together. Like his father always compared him to Fizz and even gave Fizz a wish you were my son card in ep 6 Oops, he killed his own Mother, catastrophically injured his best friend, his sister blames him for his mother's death, ripped his & several other’s lives apart. Because OTHER people worked at that Circus. Can you even FATHOM the guilt and self-hatred Blitz is carrying on his shoulders? Then he goes through life just reliving the trauma of hurting people - even when he doesn’t mean to. It’s phenomenal that Blitz is still going. Since adding to this, he lost EVERYONE. He was a teenager, & we don’t even know if he had a home to go back to or was accepted in, after what happened.
Holy shit, I didn’t even think about the fact Blitzø didn’t have any home to go to after that. He was only a teenager :( And they probably lived in tents at the circus. After the accident, he was injured, so I guess he would’ve gone to a hospital for his burns and tried to visit Fizz, but was told he didn’t want to see him (Cash’s fault). They always lived at the circus, his mom was dead, his dad and Barbie hated him. He literally had no where to go, and nobody left (as he said to Fizz in Oops, “you were the only one I had left, Fizz”). And he most likely didn’t have any money, so he was just homeless as a teen on the streets of Hell, recently injured, nobody left, feeling overwhelming guilt and self-hatred, no job or money, and mourning his mother…. wow. I feel so awful for him. Makes me wonder what he went through on the streets, probably part of why he can fight so well.
Silly Kyra, as Stols was told in episode one of this season as a young child. Feelings are unbecoming of a Goetia. 😂😭😭😭 But yes, he needs to tell Blitz his feelings.
I just need these beautiful gays to communicate, my queer little heart can only suffer so much. 😭😭😭😭 I absolutely am enjoying the fuck out of your reactions and hearing 30 min of your thoughts on this song is a fuckin delight. 🖤🖤🖤🖤
I recommend keeping this song in mind during the next 2 episodes tbh!! You're going to have a LOT of things to analyse there hahah. I can't wait for your reactions!!!
"this minute is 35 minutes long" yeah... that's /far/ from a record for detailed, reflective and/or analytical viewings of Helluva Boss. which are the best kind :)
9 months later and this video still makes me cry. I said when I first saw it that anyone who doesn't cry watching this video (just look my way) had no soul and may be a sociopathic monster.
Stolas has had the romper since Seeing Stars. 🤣But it's so jarring compared to the tone of the song. Bryce did such a gorgeous job singing this song... 😭
I'm not sure if the Sins really rank above Stolas. After all, he is of royal blood. Vortex is in a relationship with a sin and, as far as I know, hellhounds are considered the lowest in the hierarchy. Even Imps have a higher status. That's my understanding greetings from Germany
There was a chart I vaguely remember seeing somewhere that did show the class level of various demons, though I can't recall if it was official or not. But I think it was something like: The Morningstar family(Lucifer) at the top Then the Sins With Goeita(Stolas) being the next level below the Sins, and from there is the Overlords(As seen in Hazbin) with certain hell born like succubui/incubi being a slightly higher social class(Usually) than Imps and Hellhounds, who are both at the bottom.
I think this is more due to Bee's character. She is the wild rich teenager of the sins and all she does is throw huge parties in her mansion and steals drugs from other sins. The Serena Van Der Woodsen type. No one takes her seriously and she can date whoever she wants as people already expect crazy stuff from her. Asmodeus, on the other hand, has some credibility and he is dragged through tabloids for even an idea of him sleeping with an imp.
"I only need them now to just communicate..." But thats like 90% of their problems.
I am here for YOUR reaction, and if your reaction to a 5 minute video takes 5 hours... than I am going to watch another 5 hour video ^^
This, for all reactors
One does not simply have a favourite Helluva Boss character !
Very true
Not when Dennis exists.
