I still remember watching this crash being reported on the local Boston news that summer day. The aircraft involved was a former Northeast Airlines "yellow bird," acquired by Delta when the airlines merged (Northeast Airline's theme song in their ads was "Yellow Bird," as the jets had a yellow paint scheme). Sad day.
i was living about 35 minutes north of logan airport at the time of this crash and remember hearing a loud bang and thought, what the heck was that. needless to say i was pretty shocked to find out it was this delta crash, very disturbing and sad for sure.
This is why the current requirement on approaches is to be stable by 1,000 feet of execute a go-around. I should add that short flights like this make for an extremely busy cockpit. making errors more likely.
I just read an associated description of the events leading up to the crash. Just like every other crash it seems it was a clown show of small errors that led up to a great tragedy.
Fifty years ago this month, I sat across the aisle from one of the flight attendants on an airport bus in Houston. Anna Moore, 27. A strikingly attractive woman. When I saw her photo on the front page of the August 1, 1973 Houston Chronicle, I got what the British used to call ( and may still ) "heartsink."
I was just thinking it has been forever since I've seen you! If the weather is good I have a checkride for ppl in the morning. Wish me luck! I'm hoping your flight trainning is going well Allec!
Uh, last I knew Alec was a student successfully training to be a Commercial Airline Pilot. He's said so in various pinned comments. Probably you could search more on his progress. Great guy for sure - I've been a fan & subbed for at least 3 years. He's from Indonesia, btw. Cheers - David in Texas

The approach was never stable and at an altitude of 1,000 ft agl a missed approach should have been initiated. Very poor crew communication and coordination. Monkeys.

My grandparents were on this flight. I never knew them. Hard to believe this was 50 years ago this summer.
So sorry for your loss.

I have seen several of your narrated contributions and I enjoy them.
The captioned ones that many may be familiar with are of equal value.
Great job!
I like the narration.
I suppose this was from the era when a go around was considered A negative rather than a routine event.
I really like these narrated videos.

Massive thumbs up and please more older crashes

i love this new format
I like these narrated clips in that I can move away from the clip & keep it playing through while looking at something else.
The narration is great! 🎉
Dude, awesome video with your narrator and I would love to hear more of your videos with narrator.
The narration works great for me.
It probably works very good for everyone with weak vision.
This is the type of guy to watch instead of mayday episodes

Another Allec Joshua Ibay classic. Keep up the great work.👍
This Patreon thing is getting to be a right racket. Either do it because you want to, as before, or don’t bother doing it at all.
Why some pilots confused between a proper approach and a go-around... (cough) The crews from Dynasty 140, Dynasty 676, Atlas Air 3591...
Thanks....great video
Alex have you ever flown as a commercial pilot. Or do your interests lie in aeronautical engineering. Your videos are terrific! Mateo on Lake Erie

Does it seem strange they were almost always over the glideslope, yet crashed short of the airport?
I prefer the narration with a real voice. Not the computer generated voice. Thanks for doing a real narration.
Gotta watch that altitude.
Gotta? Is that a word?

Hell yea narrated gang
Where did you get the transcript of the pilots / ATC ?
It looks the approach was not stabilized and a go around would have saved the aircraft from crashing.
this channel gives me major anxiety
No more narration, let the video tell the story

So it really was Burrill and Burrell -- they were not related?
Good thing it was a training flight
Simple mathematics and common sense could have saved the day....
A botched approach. In aviation "when there is doubt, there is no doubt; go around". This would probably have saved them. Sad ...
These two should have picked a different career since they were no good at piloting an aircraft. However it made for a good comedy video. 😊
How many people education flights has killed? Just economy to give trainee pilots plane without passengers. All for commercial economy
Burrill
What game is this?
Flight sim 2004
Yes please stick to narrative easier to fallow than reading
That was an old trainee pilot 😂🤦♂️👎🤷♂️

Allec, you go into way too much information sometimes. This is one of those cases.
You think!
Way too much technical detail, just tell US why they crashed SHORT of the runway.
No one cares what you think
I have been elected by the subscribers to tell you no one cares about the names of the crew, no one.

What utter rubbish. Be quiet unless you’re going to say something that is both true and believable.
