I'm one of the few people who actually enjoyed playing this :(
Same here.
Those few are more than you think.
This is one of my favorites, honestly. And it was the first game I ever played in my life, so it holds a special place in my heart. I'll always love this, it's always fun to go back to and replay
extremely underrated sonic game. I prefer it over part 2 in all fairness.
Armando amen
This sonic had a very special ambiance.
for sure, u got it
The ambiance, the atmosphere. A truly sophisticated experience for only the most discerning of Sonic the Hedgehog aficionados.
yes
Indeed
feels like sonic 3 and knuckles chaotix thanks to it's grooviness, but also sonic cd for it's pure funky, otherwordly and ambiance tracks.
"Eggman's Gay Circus" okay.
***** lol. Unused, unnamed tracks from the beta version. The Sonic community (which I normally can't stand) named them such.
DUSTINODELLOFFICIAL my first thought was that its a hidden joke from the programmers (wouldnt be the only time)
No, definitely not! I just thought giving them some sort of name, especially since they already have a name within the fandom. Also, the song did end up getting reused, in Sonic 4... where it sounds even worse
+DUSTINODELLOFFICIAL Oh I thought this was a legit title, they were just meaning to use the old sense of the word.
VuurniacSquarewave Well, maybe... Japan did make this game.
The more I hear this game's music, the more I appreciate it. On top of some of the best Sonic music ever, this game features my favorite Invincibility theme.
Well sorry metlmeta but Sonic 3 has my favorite invincibility theme
Volcano Valley act 2 simply nails everything. The song is devastatingly sad. Its the level where the game will not give you any cheerful songs anymore, as things will now get serious. This ost blows out the Saturn ost miles away. It is composition over sound quality right here.
100% this!
personally, i prefer act 1 music more but def agree with your sentiment.
I personally think it has the sound quality and the composition altogether, especially through headphones!
Also happy that the same composer could bring a few tracks into Sonic Advance and make them even better. Also I love the Diamond Dust Act 1 rendition for Snow Mountain in Sonic Dash...
My personal Favorite soundtracks are Diamond Dust, Volcano Valley and Gene Gadget ones. So many memories with this game.
GameHut has given me a whole new level of appreciation for this game.
And they even made a DX version of the game. Kinda sad they didn't do anything for the Saturn, it has better graphisms, so better graphisms + better game would have been perfect !
@@JordanViknar, graphics don't mean everything, though.
Here's one plus, the Genesis version was actually pushing the console's limits, using the consoles limits as advantages, while the Saturn version is more rushed to replace the cancelled Sonic X-Treme.
Another plus is that the music in the Genesis version is some of the best in the Genesis games, while the Saturn version is a bit more generic.
@@PKSuperStar256 except the special stage theme,Saturn's version is the better one for sure
Rusty Ruin Zone though, that bass line.
All time favourite for me, this ost is a complete masterpiece for chiptune music
When I was younger, I thought the alligators on the stage was moving back and forth to the theme lol
My God, Diamond Dust, 12/13 years after I first heard it, still presses *all the right buttons*.
I definitely don't agree on all the hate this game gets. Sure, it was not as good as the rest and it didn't need to be a Sonic game, but it still had _unbelievable_ music and graphics and it felt like an adventure all the same.
This game in particular was one of those made ahead of their time. If it had an analog joystick to play it from the get-go it would've been treated much better.
And let's be sincere: if this _hadn't_ been a Sonic title, _how many of us would know about it's 10/10 OST?_
+SpiralPegasus The only legitimate criticism one could made about the game (in my opinion) is that it's too easy. I loved it back in 96/97 when my friend got it for christmas. Also, that animated intro alone destroys anything technically that Donkey Kong Country did on the Snes.
andyukmonkey
I think most of the difficulty actually comes from finding the birds... and landing on certain platforms too.
And well, Sonic games on their golden era were never too difficult. I am on the opposite corner though, I found this to be the hardest MD-era Sonic game.
SpiralPegasus
You did just remind me of those large ramps with small square platforms that appear in some acts which were incredibly annoying.
andyukmonkey oh yeahhhh those, you're right.
SpiralPegasus .
The graphics of this game blew my mind when I saw it for the first time.. The soundtrack grew on me soon after. In my country the SNES wasn't that popular, and the whole DKC craze went by without much noise here.. But, dear god, when I saw THIS, my eyes were about to pop. Nowadays, the visuals may be outdated (yet impressive for the 16bit machine), but the soundtrack is still freakishly awesome... Am I the only one who thinks that the 16bit version of the soundtrack is better than the redbook audio in the 32bit one?
Radoslav Mitrov No, you aren't, I thought the Saturn's CD audio soundtrack was really bland and poor. The graphics were also much less impressive on Saturn.
Smashing channel, man. The Model 2 sounds terrific. Keep up the great work, I'm looking forward for other great uploads by you.
+Radoslav Mitrov You're not the only one. I much prefer this soundtrack to it's Sega Saturn counterpart.
+Radoslav Mitrov The best thing about this game though, is the soundtrack. The music for Sonic has always been awesome, and this continues the legacy of Sonic music.
I like the Sega Saturn version but this 16 bit stuff is better.
When you hear the Volcano Valley song for the first time, you know the shit is getting real. Really intense and atmospheric!!
Rusty Ruin is like top 5 video game music of all time for me. Beautiful.
Diamond Dust and Boss 2, what a masterpieces
Yeah, + Volcano Valley act 2 and Puppets Panic act 2
Nothing will ever top accidentally getting the debug screen on original hardware, and then feeling like a wizard for the next 8 hours
This soundtrack was actually quite superb! Previous games had some catchy, memorable, and even iconic tunes, but this one was, dare I say, revolutionary! It definitely had a different feel...whereas the previous games were upbeat and energetic, 3D Blast's soundtrack was mellow and melodic. Anything faster-paced was a bit more menacing than anything that had come before-only the boss music from the other games could compare! This opposing extremes approach gives the soundtrack variety. I love it, it's just brilliant!
Gahd, this whole soundtrack is so awesome. In some ways even better than anything in 1-3&K. Everything's so dang melodic and catchy, even the more melancholic tracks.
none of the songs in this soundtrack even come close to the brilliance of Sonic 1-3's Soundtrack
@@Aj-me8moNah,a lot do. Especially the “refurbished” versions that were used for Sonic Adventure’s soundtrack.
@@Aj-me8moI feel like the reason you’re saying this is because you could never get past Green Grove Zone as a kid, so you never got to hear the rest of the OST
@@TheGoldNShadow Despite 3D, it's an easy and small game, so that explanation makes no sense. Yeah, it's a great soundtrack, but to say it's better than everything before is just being contrarian. You guys probably don't remember what came before well enough to make that call. You're probably biased because you're nostalgic for Sonic 3D or Adventure.
Pleno 2020 escuchando estos tracks, cuanta nostalgia! Rusty Ruin Zone Act 2 fué, es y será una de mis favoritas!
Mis favoritas son Green Grove, Diamond Dust, Gene Gadget.
Temones!! Cuanta nostalgia, que buena música carajoo!!!!
@@GabyWinel Volcano Valley Zone act 2👌
Volcano Valley is one of the best Sonic songs.
Fox Boy there’s a part in Valcano Valley that sounds like a song in Sonic Heroes🤔
@@xKi2Lifex Yes, it's Final Fortress.
hands down, still hum it to this day
I'm sitting here, 3AM after along day at work and just soaking in the good feeling I get from the music from this game (the other old sonic OST's too) and I'm baffled at how much they impact me still. I played this back when I was 6 years old, I was born in 1990 and I would think that nostalgia would be the largest reason for why I love the music so much, but even back then I was just drawn into it.
This among others games I can say have soundtracks that are beyond words for me, thank you for uploading this.
This message #tuio
Okay 1996 #CN
Same, born in '90, I love the soundtrack of this game so much and the Genesis, since I had one when I was a kid and it feels so nostalgic. Hard to believe the Genesis could sound this good!
Diamond Dust act 2 was always my favourite soundtrack from Sonic 3D. I remember that I could get myself there just to listen to the music and didn't care if the time ran out. The sound test was not an alternative, because there is no rewarding feeling from going into the menu and just play the music. If you actually managed to get to the map, that's a reward in itself.
Maaaaaaan I was so stoked on this when it was new. Mad nostalgia.
More than 20 years later and the song from Diamond Dust Zone Act 1 still gives me goosebumps
why? i think it's a very happy song.
I can understand why this can give someone goosebumps. What you call "happy" can easily transfer feelings of heroic energy to the listener, combined with nostalgia because of the game itself ofcourse. There are "happy" tunes from Sonic & Knuckles that can still give me goosebumps as well and I'm in my 50's, imagine! 😅👍
This game and soundtrack were absolute fire
When I was a child, I liked humming the theme of Diamond Dust Zone and looking to the snowy mountains near of my neighborhood and I wanted to go there so much because in my city, it never snows. Good days.
I hope you can go there one day.
@@videotape2959 I went 4 years ago. It was great to feel the snow since it never snows in my city (the mountains still get the snow though). I want to go there again and listen to this theme at there lol.
Vegas, I take it? Or somewhere in Nevada?
@@b_e_p_i_s_m_a_n6212 Nope not in the USA.
@@Burak-ls5yd Gotcha, was wondering lol
AMO LA MUSICA DE ESTE JUEGO!
While I like both soundtracks, the Genesis version has a really odd and interesting vibe towards the end. With the haunting Panic Puppet 2, the eerie Final Fight, and the bittersweet credits theme, it all sounds very final. I like to think Sonic 3D MD takes place in an alternate timeline after a string of bad endings, which somewhat explains Knuckles and Tails’ weird, almost estranged appearances. Also Robotnik dies, timeline over.
Sonic 3d blast was a great game
3D Blast is such an iconic game soundtrack. I taught myself how to mod the music for Sonic 3 AIR so I could put the Diamond Dust and Volcano Valley themes into the game in place of Icecap and Lava Reef. Made this game's boss themes the miniboss and end level boss themes too.
One time my little baby cousin was messing around with the controller during the title screen...and somehow hit something that enabled level selection!...My older cousin and I screamed "HOLD ON!" but then it was too late and my little cousin selected the first level -_-
he hit the cartridge/console
Anything that makes the game crash sends you to the level select.
@@Thomasynthesis or he typed baracuda
How are u patient like that? If it was me i would make him stuck at his bedroom for 2 weeks.
Insane how a Genesis was able to pull this off. I remember playing this on a Windows ‘98 computer and being impressed. This is being played on a console that was technically released in 1988.
i remember that whenever i was going thru volcano valley stage i had to put it on mute. I couldn with this soudtrack. It was too much for me, as a kid, to handle. Theres something really special about it. Its so sad, powerfull. I love it. I kinda fear it till this day.
in Volcano valley 2 you can hear full sadness of ending of SMD era
Ah,yes my favorite Song.
"Eggman's Gay Circus"
When it's played that track on the game?? I never hear it when I played as a child. Or it was a demo that wasn't used but still on the game files??
Also: lol ur comment xD
@@joakotorres402 It's found in some prototypes of the game, it's not in the final ROM.
Sonic 3d Demo Tape calls this song as Boss, and on this tape there are two versions of this song, Boss (Minor) and Boss (Major)
@@RatchetAndClank14 I think "eggman gay circus" was simply a placeholder name
LOVE The Final Fight song! One of the best from the Genesis Sonic era!
Loved this game! Love the soundtrack! Ahhh good memories ☺️
This is the only game in wich i remember ALL the songs. There is not A SINGLE ONE that i say "hm i dont remember it now"
THE BEST CLASSIC OST (Fighting with sonic R)
I just dreamed about this friggin soundtrack. Such nostalgia!
same, I also once dreamt that I had been living with a similar woman like your pfp
I have a special nostalgic place for this game in my heart. So while the gameplay doesn't make me feel like I should, this soundtrack definitely does.
Oops, it said "Spring Yard." It should actually be "Spring Stadium" must have gotten distracted typing it.
+bloodberry Especially the intro stage to the second game Trouble Shooters Daiginjou (if I spell that correctly ;))
+DUSTINODELLOFFICIAL no problem man :)
i get spring yard and spring stadium mixed up all the time lel
Sound track of my childhood
@14:32 I remember feeling like a complete badass when this part of the song starts and I nailed that, pure evil, triple trampoline stunt in one shot for the first time
rusty ruin act 2 and the lava ones
Gotta listen to this with Headphones as Stereo is surrounding, especially Final Fight !!
Esse jogo pode não estar entre os melhores da série, mas com certeza a sua trilha sonora está entre as melhores.
There's a weird charm to this specific game's soundtrack that is isolating, but attracting at the same time. Really something to think about.
For some reason I always liked how the intense/sad Volcano Valley music comes right after the very upbeat Diamond Dust music. It perfectly fits their opposite climates as well.
around 1998 , i was 9 years old. i would play the game all day and i made it to the stage right before the final. i didn't know it was right before the final stage back then. still regret that i didn't try one more time haha
why is this soundtrack so much better than saturn’s version?
the game was alright, the soundtrack was a masterpiece
I'm surprised by how long the Green Grove Zone songs are comparted to previous Sonic's songs; it doesn't feel like a simple loop. It has like a verse, pre chorus, chorus and even a coda. And the melody does pretty good scale changes, variations to avoid repetitiveness.
Que sonidos!!! Que buena música! Ni hablar de la nostalgia que me provoca!
I always liked that Panic Puppet Act 1 is pretty much the story screen's theme extended
Yeah it's basically the Theme if the game and I think it should've been Act2 personally
Yeah, when I was a kid I really liked listening to the story screen music. Then one day I finaly got to Panic Pupet zone and was shocked (in a good way) to hear that music used in a level.
@59:13 when you smack the game cartridge
When you put in a lock on of sonic blast 2
This game completely WOWed me as a kid when I first saw the intro. How 3d Sonic looked and then the 3d of the levels, especially the special stages. It was amazing! Years later I find this game easier to play than other Sonic games (or at least easier to complete) but I still love to play it. And the soundtrack to this game is so awesome! Diamond Dust zones musics just enchant me whenever I hear them😍😍😍
This Game Has Such An Awesome Soundtrack! I Love All Of Its Music So Much! - Especially, Green Grove Act 1 And Diamond Dust Act ( s ) 1 / 2. Thank You For Uploading This! This Truly Brings Me Back Memories! 💙 :)
( Also, My Comment From Four Years Ago Is Still Here! Thanks For The Likes On It )! ^^

Ahaha, love that Sonic derp face on the thumbnail!
E3 Sonic 3d Blast the best lol
impressive sound for genesis.
Diamond Dust, Volcano Valley and Gene Gadget are the best. Rusty Ruins right behind
WRONG
Rusty Ruin is Awesome
Rusty Ruins
@@tonyabufford6050 Did I say it wasnt?
@@avideogamemaster what I mean IS ALL MUSIC IN THIS GAME RULES FOR MEGADRIVE
how can people not enjoy this game at all? is one of the best. it's amazing. The controllers were hard but that was what kept me interested as a kid, I loved the challange, and getting all the small birbs to safety was fun af too... good times.
Probably because the stupid green flicky just goes wherever the hell it wants to
Soundtrack never gets old
After all these years, I still come back to listen to the Diamond Dust Zone's song.
Hot DANG Spring Stadium Zone is jazzy!
SWEET! Awesome music and game! SO EPIC! ^^'
Game is so criminally underrated. Yeah, of course it's different than the Sonics the came before it, but it's not so terrible the way some fans make it out to be. It's really really good. And the OST is great!
Panic Puppet Act 2 is absolutely epic, and so much ridiculously better than Act 1 IMHO
Omg, just realized a couple tracks from Sonic Adventure OST were taken right from this game!!
good game and music
27:09 :D
SuperGalaxyMedia best part!
OMG my favorite part of soundtrack thank you SuperGalaxyMedia
The music in this game has really gotten around. From the multiple songs that would later appear in Sonic Adventure, as well as Diamond Dust Zone Act 1 being remixed for a stage in Sonic Dash of all games.
Easily my favorite Sonic soundtrack on the Genesis.
Rusty Ruin Act 2 still goes crazily hard. It has no reason to, but it does. That opening is phenomenal.
This is my favorite Sonic game, I love everything about it, especially the soundtrack!
This game have a special feeling to it, idk, it's just amazing and I wish that more people liked this game...
6:06 HOLY FUCKING NEEDLEMOUSE THIS SLAPS!
Rusty Ruin was always my favorite.
Aw heck yeah! This game's soundtrack is fantastic! And catchy! *taps foot*
Rusty Ruin level has one of the best OST ever
AWESOME [SEGA GENESIS MUSIC ] SONIC 3D BLAST - FULL ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK OST !!!
Oh my god, when I was 10, I recorded those tracks with my phone staying in front of TV, trying to get good sound (The quality of recordings was crappy as F anyway XD). I wouldn't even play the game, I wanted that music! My dad would walk in and be like "wtf".
I was curious to find out how I'd feel about this soundtrack now, and, honestly, I still think it's magnificent.
Haha ! I did the same, but not with a phone (I hadn't one) but with an AUDIO TAPE recorder. I see me again in front of TV, trying to have best quality, hoping that no one enters my room to talk to me (and be forced to record again).
With time, I did an entire compilation with my favorites Sonic Games OST. I was so proud of myself.
So I gave the audio tape to a friend in order to listen it in his car (no CD player, only tape ;) ), while he was driving... but it was slower and awful to listen.
He looked at me and just asked : "What is this shit ?'
Lmfao... I was crying inside.
It's a surprise to discover now that some of the Sonic Adventure tracks comes from this game!
Along with Red Zone, I think this game shows the Sega Mega Drive's true potential. Although many people forget this game really wasn't made by Sega.
I rented this game and only had it for a few days, but somehow I remember half of the songs in the game!
Gene Gadget alway had this Rewarding feeling, like 'You've made it pretty far Now it gets serious'
59:13 NO WAY? NO WAY!
Ah, Flickies' Island. A different challenge and experience to the other Sonic games on the Mega Drive, but still fun :)
Fun fact: the font used for "THE WORLD FAMOUS BLUE HEDGEHOG IS BACK" on the back cover is called Crackhouse.
*Eggman's gay circus*
HA! GAYYEEEE!
sonic 4 boss music...
@@otsu3011 Where it sounds much worse. Why use such a whimsical track for standard boss fight music?
And there are 825 versions of it?!
Volcano Valley Act I is my spirit animal
Топовая музыка. В детстве мне казалось, что звучит похоже на альбом Чудеса Агаты Кристи))
I played that game in the winter of July 1997. What memories.
Rusty Ruins Zone is such a vibe.
Este juego es una joya, no entiendo a veces a la comunidad de Sonic.
En sus dias este juego fue graficamente impresionante. Yo lo jugue mucho.
32:28 gorgeous
underrated
Panic Puppet Zone Act 2 sounds like it should be in Mega Man
TheLegendOfRenegade Scrap Brain Zone in Sonic 1 on SMS has that kind of feel too.
+Yarfy Fox +TheLegendofRenegade
+1'd, both of you.
Boss theme #2 sound way more like a final boss theme than the final boss theme of this game.
Maybe because it is in wahweenc of mm8bdm (fan game)
I think both Boss Themes should be in Mega Man as well. A very "Wily" feel to them.
*scrolls through comments*
How dare none of you mention "Rusty Ruin Zone's Song"
Both acts of Rusty Ruin are testaments to what the Genesis could do music wise. Act 2 especially.
Okay: Rusty Ruin Zone's theme is one of my most favorite ones from Classic Era
Easily the most nostalgic of the soundtrack, for me.
Brother I'm proud enough to say that I have recorded a "live" kind of version of the Rusty Ruin Zone in Ableton live with electric guitars etc.
Tried to emulate all the original sounds with some VST's.
I will upload it soon enough.
Let me know sending me a PM if you want to hear it!!
@@GeorgeMilkasIgore I want to hear it!
I always got dizzy with this game, never couldn't end it because of that.
eggmans gay circus is wild lol
44:57 I HAVE HAD THIS STUCK IN MY HEAD FOR MONTHS!
Well it is the intro music 🎶 as well as panic puppet zone act 1 so there's that
