Thin Air for Minecraft is a configurable mod that adds hardcore air mechanics, making it harder to breathe the further you move away from sea level or in some alternate dimensions. It also adds in multiple ways to alleviate this and ways to make it even more difficult!

Breathable air around the Nether portal makes sense. It's likely part of the Overworld's atmosphere leaking into the portal.
My one question is, if air is coming through the portal... shouldn't there be a huge pressure difference? Everything on the overworld side should be getting sucked in.
@@Denter86 Thought of that, too. But then I thought, "This is Minecraft, where you can punch trees with bare hands and they defy gravity, so I'll let it slide." Lol.
Create Air mentioned, I would have never imagined that a small tweak I made for a modpack, to play with my friends, would end up in a video of my favourite Mc mod youtuber
Those small steps are the key to how modding works. Somebody comes up with a good idea. Then it gets made. Other people see it, and like it. It grows into a larger idea. There was a first person who thought to power a furnace with something other then fuel, that lead into the entire tech mod sector of today. So, now, you were there when a small addition was made to the environmental gameplay options of minecraft. Your name is in the history. Feel good about it, you should.
This would be insane if it had changes to the Alex’s caves mod. Also this is going to be absolutely perfect with create aeronautics
I know right? Imagine that No Bullets Fly video or moment but in Minecraft! Although you don't really black out here you just asphyxiate. Still its pretty cool! Then we'd have to like put life support on our planes or airships, and then in a war server people could knock out those to force you to go lower!
I wish they'd combine that with the unique breath meter from Rustic Waters. The one that looks like it's from Subnautica. So you have more air overall and can track it easier. Or you might increase your maximum air by doing a lot of work in areas with thin air because you are training your lungs.
But sadly, like Cold Sweat, it stays a bit basic.

I don't mind this mod too much, it does offer an interesting twist on mining and exploration. I absolutely hate the temperature mod which gets bundled with this mod in modpacks. Temperature mods in Minecraft are not fun, nor interesting.
They can be fun, it's just no one bothers tweaking the settings so they're always default which is usually obnoxious
right clicking torches to know your way back is by itself makes this worth installing
This is amazing, I was just looking earlier this week at adding Thin Air to my pack with Create and some other tech mods. Do you know if it is possible to use the oxygen distributor etc. from Ad Astra to build bases in low/no oxygen zones?
I believe thin air already has support for Ad Astra, but it'd probably be worth testing

I actually thought of this myself with the create backtank and helmet and not being able to breath in ne nether or the end. I will probably add this to my modpack. also is this compatible with the aether mod?
I've noticed after caves and cliffs update all caves have become completely flooded and it only seems to get worse if I use a word gen mod.
It made this mod null & void in the Steampunk modpack and I'm just curious as to why you're not underwater in your cave?
Is it just that I'm super unlucky or is there a config I can change to fix it?
Not all caves are flooded. It's just that large flooded caves are more common now.

I use Stay True. I also insert most mods I cover into my primer modpack (details in the video description).
