I've never heard anyone talking about Mario Royale before, but if anything, it makes SMB 35 even sadder because not only did Inferno spend a lot of time making that fangame only for it to be shut down, but Nintendo's version couldn't be played anymore only 7 months after it was released. He was bitten in the back twice!
Yeah. Mario Royale was an amazing project and was really chaotic. It's a shame it was short lived. Plus the whole Super Mario 35 situation made it hurt a bit more.
I played this game religiously from the moment it came out. I consider it to be one of the best games to have ever been made. It took one of my favorite games (NES Mario), and turned it into ADHD nightmare fuel chock-full of anger, and fulfillment. I ranked first more than a few times, but found myself in the Top 5-10 more often (which made it feel rewarding), and it would get so heated (I didn't even want to breathe toward the end when there would be like 30 Bowsers firing at you). Why they got rid of it is beyond me. Sure, I love all the 99 type games that they currently have, but this? This was a game that felt universally well-received, and they just shut it down.
I also refuse to remove it from my Switch. At least I can still see my stats, and listen to the music, lol

Man, I loved this game too. I get why they shut it down. Online games have a limited time when they are at their best and this game was never not at its best in terms of player numbers and community and all that good stuff. But I still really hope they bring it back. If it comes back periodically as a special event I feel like that would keep it special. Cool video, thanks for sharing the memories.

Dude I play this game everyday for hours I had about around 700 between 500 wins and I was level 56 star star I think but idk I was pretty sad to when the servers went down so ty for this content

Super Mario Bros 35 was the best multiplayer switch online game for me given how i love Super Mario games in general and the way the system works in 35 was fun, sometimes i wish nintendo would bring it back but permanently or possibly have a mega man, castlevania, or a contra 35 (imagine how cool those would be)

That requires a modded Switch. I went over that in the video.
my strategy for Super Mario Bros 35 was to let the other players send me trash enemies so i could redirect them in a matter of mins toward some poor rando, its one thing to take out an army of enemies at a safe location but trying to deal with them along with hazards like firebars or underwater can suck to a player that wasnt too skilled.
What I love about this is they made a lot of money off literal FOMO things that DID NOT NEED TO BE FOMO.
I'm sure you can still find copies of 3D All Stars it in stores.
I still see copies of 3D All-stars rotting on store shelves, it isn't worth shit.
It has some value. It's a cheaper way of owning Super Mario Sunshine and the port of Galaxy is pretty solid.

Funny thing is that you can pick up a physical copy of the game for less than the digital. Check nearby stores.
It's very easy to find 3D All Stars physically, most stores still sell it, they still have stock

It's a shame because it's really cool! Not sure why it doesn't get to stick around when Tetris 99 and Pac Man 99 have been around for a long time.

It's still a decent collection, though overpriced and lacking in content. I bought it because I didn't want to pay $70 just for Super Mario Sunshine, at the time.
It would absolutely fantastic to bring it back as a paid version but with 40 players, titled "Super Mario Bros 40" AND NOT TEMPORARY
If I had to pay for a newer version of this game, I'd be fine with that.
Because of how limited the servers were & stuff i refused to play this game at all specificly because of the servers shutting down specificly
It's a shame because, if you had NSO, you were refusing to play something you had access to for a few months.

I still have the game archived on my Switch, but I was thinking what is the point of that, if I can't play the game anymore (and I will not mod my Switch), so for me, basically I don't see the point of keeping this ghost game there in the All Software tab. I wanted to question you, should I delete the game for real?
