Never understood why tech reviewers make a big deal of using a phone as a power bank. Sure let’s use a $1000 device’s battery and wear it out faster instead of a cable or power bank.
Agreed. It's going to be misused by the general public that don't know batteries are finite and wear. It is nice as a backup, only in an absolute emergency when a watch or AirPods just need a few minutes of charge.
Relax it’s only 4.5w, it’s not gonna have major impact on a phone’s battery health. And you should be able to use your phone as you like while you have it,there’s definitely a use to be able to charger your small accessories like watch and AirPods
@@extra4542 Let’s see. An iPhone has between 12-13 wh batteries. An AirPods Pro case is 2 wh. So if someone were to start using their phone as a powerbank for just the AirPods Pro that’s around 15% of the battery from 0-100 assuming no losses. This equals out to around an extra cycle per week roughly . So for just the AirPods it would cause the phone to degrade 10-20% faster depending how many extra cycles they put it through easily going higher if abused.
On the other hand if it’s used sparingly for 1-2% who cares but they act like it’s the most amazing thing ever. It’s hilariously stupid

I think it’s more the idea of being able to use that feature in a pinch, not something people will be doing every day. At the end of the day, you still lose battery charge on your main device

I have a quite effective dual-port (USB-C/USB-A) SD /MicroSD card reader that has the USB connectors on each end, no need for a tail cable. In December last year I bought the 7.5W version of the ESR Cryoboost car mount charger. It's effective enough that I don't believe I need the 15W unit.
I just barely bought one from Uni that was only $9 that is a dual usb c and a sd card reader. Works great!

I will say, I used a Magbak case and wallet for 2 years on my iPhone 13 Pro Max and it was perfect. The extra magnets help hold my phone onto some MagSafe products easier and the wallet was so strong, I could shake my phone around while holding the loop and it took crazy amounts of force to come off.
I wanted to switch things up with my 15 pro max and got a Dbrand skin and Dbrand ghost case, but my magbak wallet still holds on the back of my phone very well.

When Apple finally gets around to reverse charging with the iPhone it will really change the smartwatch game. Being able to sit your Apple Watch on your phone to charge it would be awesome.

in an ideal world probably yes, but it would be too bulky and lopsided to extend the peltier area and add a 2nd smaller fan to cover the hot spot
