@@benscherer7256 I did the same upgrade (11PM to 15PM) and I'm really happy with it so far. Much brighter, faster display, MagSafe support, and the performance improvement is great. I'm sure you'll enjoy the upgrade too!
I changed the charge limit to 80. Charged last night and currently i am at 50% after a long day at work.

This 80% battery feature has existed for years. It’s not new, I had it on my 11 for a very long time

The only feature available that I know of before the 15 series is optimized battery charging which only stops charging at 80% then resumes to full about when you start to use the device. Still not as effective as not charging above 80% outright (>80% charging is when the majority of battery wear occurs. It’s been shown that about 50-80% of wear happens just at the 80-100% mark. It’s even multiple times worse when you leave a battery full overnight).

That was helpful to me. I use a continuous glucose monitor and Abbot the manufacturer say switch off the standby for it to work on ios 17. They did not seem to know the pro and normal 15 treat the function differently. Thanks again.

If the phone is in silent mode and a call comes in, is it possible to raise the volume during the incoming call (so that the phone rings) using the action button?
So instead of waiting a couple of years for battery capacity to degrade to 80%, you now can degrade it to 80% immediately. 🎉
No, it means that when you *really need it,* you can charge your smartphone to 100% and it will last longer than if you didn't care about the battery.

The charging setting is also available to any iPhone that can update to IOS 17.
So what you’re saying is USB-C, camera upgrade, bump in performance (chip, battery, software). Can we just admit Apple has a year to release phones and it’s the same thing every time. They should have 4K screens with 20 hour on screen time by now.
It’s not just apple . Phone technology is at its peak nearly so bigger updates yearly are not possible. Same with Samsung phones and pixel phones. You’re not gonna see a major changes from year to year.
The "window" on the side doesn't have to be transparent to reach the tower. They did that because it travels more efficiently through plastic than metal. It's not a window.

Very informative and interesting video, thanx. What You‘ve forgotten to mention, is that the new (only for the iPhone 15 series) "max. 80% Limit charging" feature, not every time works.
The charging-Limiter feature works 7 out of 10 charging processes.
Apple writes on their Website as well as under the setting of this feature:
"With 80% Limit enabled, your iPhone will occasionally charge to 100 percent to maintain accurate battery state-of-charge estimates"
In fact, my personal experience was only 6 out of 10 times, with my new iPhone 15 Pro Max. Here are the stats:

Does the battery last longer if you charge to 80% ?
I've learned sadly that I can only use a flash drive to record directly on when I record 4K with pro-res, but I can't use it to directly record still frame photos, unfortunately.

im betting the reverse charging on the iPhone is not available because of the potential issue of heat/temperature.
I think the reason Apple went with eSIM only in the US is because there’s no customer ROMs for the carriers on iPhone. Just an attempt to give carriers more control over the device.

@@infernoeagles5812for quite some time in the past, carriers baked the cost of a new phone into their monthly plan. This meant you got a free or almost free phone every couple of years with no extra cost. Back then if you bought your own phone, you were actually losing money, because they didn’t give you a discount for bringing your own hardware. Several years ago they stopped doing that for some reason, but then they started again.
Today if you trade in your old phone, they give you a flagship phone at a huge discount. I just traded in my 11 Pro, and got a 15 Pro with no extra cost. If I go out and buy the phone myself, I’d have to sell the 11 Pro on Ebay for $350, then cover the $650 to get to $1000 price of the 15 Pro. Even after spending this much money, my monthly phone bill doesn’t get cheaper. No discount for bringing my own hardware.
The 80% battery feature is not exclusive to the 15. This has been a thing for years…

My iPhone 15 Pro Max always goes dark in standby mode. I really wanted to replace my alarm clock at night with this but I always have to wake it up to see the time. Can’t find any setting to make it stay on.
FYI - The different software based focal lengths are NOT full resolution as they are just cropping the original FL. The field of view my be closer say from 24 to 28, but the DOF, compression of image (compression as in the look) is unchanged...it's just a 24mm shot cropped. Anyway, just wanted to throw that out there.

Fun fact, always-on for standby mode is not exclusive to the 15 pros. The feature is also available on the 14 pros

Reverse Wireless Charging will NEVER happen on an iPhone....
Apple would have to remove the magnets from the airpods case for that to happen. When you place airpods on the back of the iphone, the magnets force the coils to misalign because they are both the same polarity...
Apple also wrote this into the Qi2 standard so you will start seeing other companies drop reverse wireless charging if they want to put magnets into their earbud cases too. Since every manufacturer has different earbud case shapes and sizes there is no one size fits all magnet arrangement to satisfy everyone.
Standby mode sucks... at least it doers on my iPhone 13. It's broken. It doesn't work as promised. It is constantly glitching out...and never starts up as advertised. I won't use it now.

No, only the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. The same applies to WiFi 6E - the iPhone 15 only has WiFi 6.

Have an iPhone 12 Pro and just bought an iPhone 15 Pro. Find it hard to believe the battery at 80% business is going to make any difference to battery life. Have charged my 12 pro every night since I bought it (3 weeks after they went on sale) to 100% and it's fine, still lasts easily all day even when our 4 year old gets going on the arcade games etup 🙂 A gimick?

about the 28 and 35mm lens, i can do the same on the 14 pro/pro max by zooming to 1.2 or 1.5x and enable RAW MAX :))) nothing new there

I might be weird, but I’ve never had a lightning cable fray or break. I even have the first 30pin iPod cable I ever got, still works fine. I really don’t understand what you guys are doing with your cables haha
i've had issues with both 30 pin and lightning due the old rubber that apple used to use on it, but that was like years after i bought it. Since they changed it i didn't have any more issues. and now with the braided ones, i don't think i will.

the pro max bends way easier than than the pro, it’s a 1000 dollar phone, just put a case on it and you will be fine, if you will be dropping it constantly or putting it on though places just get a cheaper smart phone …
I have a 15 Pro Max but it genuinely doesn't bother me. I had the 6 Plus when the original bendgate was an issue and it was fine because I kept it in good condition. Honestly I don't know what people are doing to their phones but they should never be put under such a force that they'd bend like that.

The output power is around 5W so it's not a very fast charge. It's good if your device is almost dead and you need to keep it topped up, but it's not good as a power bank for charging devices quickly.

Apple's stock cable is literally the ONLY charging cable I have ever had fray. It's ridiculous that they continued to use that cable for years. How it wasn't a product recall is wild to me.

It depends on what you're looking for. I ordered the 15 Pro Max because of the bigger battery, features, and I like the big phone size.
Cameras on the pro max are improved over the pro
One difference is the 15 Pro Max has a 5x zoom lens, whereas the 15 Pro has a 3x zoom lens.
Love my new 15 Pro and I’m most looking forward to people not bitching about the lack of a usb-c port.
When was the last time Apple released new functions through software like you suggested for reverse wireless charging ? In my memory they only enable those software updates via Hardware updates ex. New model… just like the Apple Watch 9 double pinch.. I have been using assistive touch and double pinch on my watch series 7 since it came out. They just added this software feature by default after 2 gens of watch. I love Apple products but hate apple’s holding back mentality. At the same time they are a business, Not the Red Cross so their aim is to make cash which I respect, but damn it sucks for us consumers

How can Apple enable reverse wireless charging when the magnets are opposite poles? It just doesn't make sense. If you want reverse wireless charging on Apple Airpods, surely you would lose magsafe compatibility.
