I find it funny that Biscuits, “fixed” the truck but made it completely useless for delivering mail. He saved everyone so he’s not in too much trouble.
@@garretk1415 he had been watching them, so knew who was in the vans. It was still at the very least assault considering they hadn’t done anything yet.
I doubt the people in the van died. They (the vans) weren’t crushed completely and they were more than likely just trapped inside. I see much worse vehicle carnage on Insta daily and people survive. JC just made that wild assumption
I love Chula and Skully. Their dynamic reminded me of Doc and Hope on Virgin River when they were estranged. I hope to see them come together like those two.
Maya tried to Sybok Fisk to release his pain, but Fisk like Kirk, needs his pain. "You know that pain and guilt can't be taken away with the wave of a magic wand. They're things we carry with us, the things that make us who we are. ...If we lose them, we lose ourselves. I don't want my pain taken away. I need my pain."
Loooved this series, especially the family element. Reminded me of blue beetle in that way. But 100% agree on the pacing. A couple more episodes or some restructuring for longer episodes was needed.
Even though I thought the series was a 7 out of 10, I really appreciated the focus on authentic Native American history. They referenced the Trail of Tears and the symbiotic relationship that the Tribal Nation had with the spiritual Earth. I probably would have enjoyed it more if it was unpacked more. It just seemed rushed.
This was a great series, thanks for the fun review! My Deaf friend was thrilled to see a series with not only Sign, but the Native culture representation too.
Ayyye!!!!! Been watching all of these. Funny thing is I started my Native American history class yesterday. Who would have thought marvel would help me with school.
It doesn't need to be a specific person. All we needed to know is that it is someone who wanted to get back at the Lopez family because of their criminal ways. I think the point was that Taloa's side of the family was not at all used to this kind of life but William and Henry were used to it. To mum's side, it was a horrific tragedy and to dad's side, it was something that happens in their line of work. That's why Chula was so upset.
I was very happy to see Roxxon make a cameo.. but then I remembered that Cloak & Dagger was just swept under the rug and ignored and I got sad again. :(
I think red and blue are used throughout the series as a representation of the two worlds that Maya has to jump between. Sometimes they are opposite each other, and sometimes they are integrated.
I think the truck that Biscuit drive to attack the bad guys in this episode is the truck he found in the junkyard when they quote "The Lion King". He must've assembled it at some point.
@@lukesaunders4615yeah but I assume Fisk’s dad did this wife beating more than once. If in daredevil, dad made him sit and watch, maybe Maya’s revisited trauma is of a different occurrence
Absolutely great job Jessica. I loved this episode the most because of the family lineage and how it was showcased. Found it very similar to African culture parallels and I just loved it so much. Thank you for this😊
I made a similar comment on the last video but your last point on it’s important to see yourself in media I absolutely agree and have been having such a high seeing representation for First Nations people. I’m ecstatic that our people have been showing more prominently the last few years. In the past either poc are overlooked or white washed and misrepresented and it feels like there’s change happening.
I wonder what Maya "healing" Kingpin would do to him from here on out. I like what Lulu said about Kingpin becoming mayor.......and going against vigilantes 💯💯
Fisk attempting to commit a terrorist attack on a marginalized group because he was pissed at one person was horrifying. Which made the resolution of that situation all the more pleasing.
They did great job with this series except for these few things in my opinion - Why did Kingpin killed Maya's dad? If you can kill the dad why the heck kill the mom at the first place - Kingpin was greatly under-utilized. - didn't actually stuck with the finale, i felt it could you slightly more episodes to expand furthermore the story - there was no effect happening to Maya after literally blows up that shipping facilities
The creation story for many native Americans is nanaboozho doing something he thought was funny, basically pulling the land down into the sea, and when he realized what he had done couldn’t be undone he panicked and looked for an animal that might be able to hold the land again, so he began searching, he went to many of the animals to help him but he couldn’t bring up land chunks alone so he asked the otter if he would be able to help, and the otter, knowing it too needed the land decided to help, but they still couldn’t find the correct animal to take the load of the land, until they found a little turtle, the turtle took the job seriously and thats how we got the land, turtle island was created.
Can you pls make a video about what Marvel Spotlight is and how it is different from regular mcu series as well as what it means for the characters under that banner
I agree, two more episodes to cook on th3 ancestry would be great.... but hoping we get that impact oater.... ivthink it was well done. Mind you ASL is derived from the native communication between tribes. Despite dialect and tongue, physical references were similar and often understood...
When the bad guys packing rolling up, it felt like how Frank Castle's family gets gunned down. Glad it didn't happen, I was like there is no way they gonna do it like this
Still finding something wrong with an awesome technology that would allow someone that can’t hear to know what people are saying if they know sign language but not lip reading .
I don't know if maybe different people sign different ways, but Uncle Henry looked as if an actor were reading their lines off of a queue card. Very robotic. weird.
My Son is deaf and we are learning ASL, so it was awesome to see it represented so well in a Marvel property, one that could reach a lot of ppl!
Aww, that's so cool! I've always been fascinated with ASL
I like the idea that Mayas mothers last move after the car crash was to heal Maya, so she did not die.

Old Kingpin would make sure Biscuits and everyone else he knows gets murdered for messing with him. R.I.P. Biscuits, we hardly knew you.
@mattduncil I mean, those vans got crushed, so I'd say at he'd be charged with murder or at least attempted murder

I love that they emphasized families healing from family trauma and coming together. I wish every family could do this.
When the caption said the heartbeats synchronized with the drumbeat....I was EMOTIONAL
I love Chula and Skully. Their dynamic reminded me of Doc and Hope on Virgin River when they were estranged. I hope to see them come together like those two.
Unfortunately, we didn't get an extended scene of Maya and Kingpin on the airport ramp where Maya is seen shooting a gun supposedly killing someone.

Oh ya gotta love the authentic cosmic powers native Americans have too
Seems more people like authentic stories of boys bitten by radioactive spiders
Wasn’t rushed until the last episode
My favorite part of the Disney plus marvel shows is when they get their names and costumes.
The Roxxon Corp. had a central story line in Cloak and Dagger.
And all the things they did on the mighty Thor storyline

And the other Netflix series.
Fisk and Maya’s relationship resembles the relationship between Thanos and Gamora.

Dang if only we had Maya in Spiderman across the spider verse, could’ve done that healing thing to miles’ king pin
it also makes me a lil upset that they never bring up who actually cut the brakes on the mom’s car
