- Kathleen opens the show drinking a Good Bug Golden Ale from Lazy Magnolia Brewing in Kiln Mississippi. She reviews her weekend in Huntsville Alabama, golfing at The Ledges (her favorite course there) and meeting fun Termites at the shows as she ran her set to prepare for her upcoming Amazon Special taping in Denver at The Paramount on June 4th.
“GOOD BAD FOOD”: In her quest for new and delicious not-so-nutritious junk food AND in continuing her search for the best Ranch, Kathleen tastes Baumhower’s Alabama White BBQ Sauce, which she likes but thinks is a little too sweet for her liking. She moves on to sample Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Sweet Carolina Reaper cheese puffs, which she spits out and compares to “FIAAAAHHHH!” She finishes her tasting with Nabisco Better Cheddars Snack Crackers, which she likes but prefers regular Cheez-Its 1000% more.
QUEEN’S COURT: Kathleen gives an update that Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has expanded to Oklahoma.
UPDATES: Kathleen gives updates on the sale of Warhol’s “Shot Sage Blue Marilyn”, Mattress Mack makes a huge Astros bet, Boris Becker’s prison situation, JetBlue’s hostile takeover for Spirit Airlines,
“HOLY SHIT THEY FOUND IT”: Kathleen is amazed to read about the discovery of an undersea road to the lost city of Atlantis, a 6-year-old finds a Megalodon tooth in the UK, and a giant sinkhole with a forest inside is found in China.
2022 BEST PLACES TO LIVE IN AMERICA: Kathleen reads the new list of the best places to live in the US for 2022-23, with Huntsville AL dethroning Boulder CO at the top spot.
2022 FATTEST STATES IN AMERICA: Kathleen laughs out loud reading the 2022 list of “Fattest States in America,” with Mississippi taking the top spot and Colorado being the Fittest. She agrees that she would also join the ranks of the “hearty Termites” in Mississippi if she lived in Biloxi, since she absolutely loves the seafood and anything Cajun from Mary Mahoney’s restaurant.
MONKEYPOX RESURFACES IN AMERICA: As a follow up to Episode 50, Kathleen reads a headline advising that multiple cases of Monkeypox have recently been identified in the US and Canada. She goes on to read about a mysterious “hybrid” monkey that was spotted in Malaysia, and appears to be a combination of two different species.
FREE DUKE’S MAYONNAISE TATTOOS: Kathleen is a massive fan of Duke’s Mayonnaise, and is thrilled to read an article announcing a 1-day promotion where Duke's sponsored 70 free Duke’s-themed tattoos at Yellow Bird Tattoo near its headquarters in Richmond, VA.
SHERPA SCALES MT EVEREST FOR THE 26TH TIME: Kathleen loves reading about the Nepalese sherpas that work on Everest, and is blown away to read an article advising that Kami Rita Sherpa just beat his own world record for climbs of Everest after his 26th ascension at the age of 52.
MAN OPENS PLANE EXIT DOOR WHEN REFUSED ALCOHOL: Kathleen is amused to read an article outlining the antics of a retired California roofer who fled a moving United Airlines plane through the emergency exit after flight crew refused to serve him alcohol before takeoff.
MYSTERIOUS “HOBBIT” SPECIES MAY NOT BE EXTINCT: Kathleen reads an article from Indonesia claiming that sightings of a small “ape-man” could be proof that the Homo floresiensis species (or hobbits,) many not be extinct and is still alive today in report parts of the area.
WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEK: Kathleen recommends watching David Bowie in the 1996 movie “Basquait” on UA-cam.

Fattest states corelate with poverty, poor people can only afford the crappy food. Reason skinny states have much higher incomes to buy real food, i.e. fresh veggies, real meats. Poor are taco bell and walmart processed fake food.

Hey Termites, First off do we have some weird bot action going on here? and secondly, how many of you, like me, are pausing the pubcast to look up all the crazy cool stuff Kathleen shares with us? (i am NOT opening the links in posts that are not in English...sorry, might be fine but....maybe not)
Not to be nosey but what makes you think there is bots?
I believe you are correct regarding bots. They are not in English, which is no big deal but when translated seem like gibberish. Also, they usually have a link that includes ".Monster" and usually mention exercise and beauty. They don't seem problematic and the comments actually stimulate the channel's growth, just don't click the links.
Edit: They seem to have been removed.
The links all have the word monster in them . Some of the words translate to health stuff. I think they're ad bots

Fattie represent here in VA - listening to the podcast a week late while eating Dolly Parton's creamy chocolate buttercream frosting with a spoon. It reminds me soooo much of my Granny's chocolate frosting and shes been gone 23 years.
I AM cleaning and putting away laundry though, so I'll call it fortitude and keep on going.

Most of the fattest states are also the poorest states, because people eat cheap stuff like bread, corn, rice, pasta, etc. Lots of box food, shelf stable items with preservatives and whatnot. (I know this from experience.) You absolutely gain weight eating cheap carbohydrates and lots of empty calories while trying to stretch every dollar.
And lots of southern home cookin
I make my own white BBQ sauce... and its AMAZING!!!!... Mayo, Apple Cider Vinegar, cayenne pepper, and some honey to taste... DELICIOUS

As a Native Hawaiian termite, I so appreciated the attempt at pronunciation! 'Olelo Hawai'i (Hawaiian language) is hard and you did great...and at least you tried! You can find megalodon teeth at Venice beach in Florida. I knew a guy that used to scuba dive for them to sell. He would not get them every dive but pretty frequently. They are way more common than you'd think.
Queen Termite, I think I may have a documentary you may like... Netflix “If I leave here tomorrow”, the lynryd skynyrd story. Very interesting and it wasn’t my type of music but the movie made me a fan. Thought I’d share.

Kathleen and I are the same age and my 2 sons are in their 30s now. Sent my oldest to Space Camp in Huntsville Alabama in the late 1990s, and he learned a lot and had a great time. I'm from GA and was a bit leary of ALA (ironic, right?! LOL), but everyone was super nice!

Hi K & P, Ms. here. 1) David Bowie was in Laberynth, not Never Ending Story. Both are great, serious childhood memories for me. Agree on: Road to Atlantis -so cool!, Dinosaur fossils= " It belongs in a museum!" Indiana Jones. Green Bay= Good City: It's an hour from Door County & 2 from Milwaukee & 3 from Madison + lots of tourism moula + NFL players live next door to you! I get it for some. Hey Mama K, I met this guy, years ago, at a place called Bennets Point, SC. (it's about 10 minutes by boat from Edisto). He would dive at the mouth of the Ashepoo River and find Megaladon Teeth often. HUGE! As big as my hand. I wish i had asked him for one...FYI, kind of dangerous diving, strong currents, little visibility.
Isn’t Megaladon a creature in one of the Godzilla vs movies? Wait, that was just Megalon. Close!

West Virginia termite here….I wish we were fat because we had amazing food. Not my experience. I would guess it has more to do with being such a poor state and so many families having to live off of spaghetti, mac n cheese, potatoes etc.

Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia get fat because of the social aspect and types of home cooking. I live in Sarasota, but was born in IN city that borders small town KY and grew up going to WV to visit family. It's all fried food and sitting on your butt for months. Also lots of pot lucks. It's not restaurant food. It's family food cooked in lots of lard.
I think KY has the best BBQ in the country. I love bbq mutton with German rye bread. Henderson KY has a restaurant called Thompson's bbq. Get the bbq there. Best ever.
