- Kathleen opens the show drinking a Jalapeno Pineapple Pilsner from Omaha’s Brickway Brewery. She’s fascinated with Warren Buffett, and not only drove past his house in Omaha but also asked the local bartenders at Billy Frogg’s bar and the Spaghetti Works if they’ve ever met him. She has rave reviews of her stay at The Farnam hotel and as a true pyro-Termite, describes the immense joy she had drinking wine and watching steaks grill in the hotel’s restaurant.
“GOOD BAD FOOD”: In her quest for new and delicious not-so-nutritious junk food AND in continuing her search for the best Ranch, Kathleen samples Dorothy Lynch salad dressing, which she LOVES the tang of and applauds Nebraska for the taste. She also tastes Iowa’s Farmer’s Bootleg Homestead Ranch, which has a dill kick that she likes but prefers a tangier Ranch. She finishes her tasting with Dolly Parton’s new Duncan Hines Buttercream icing, which is the best thing she’s tasted in ages.
QUEEN’S COURT: Kathleen is thrilled to announce that with the help of Queen Dolly’s influence, Taco Bell is bringing back the Mexican Pizza. Dolly’s been very busy lately, as her new line of Duncan Hines cake mixes have been released and Kathleen was fortunate enough to find a few of the Banana Cake mixes.
UPDATES: Kathleen gives updates on the Maryland snake owner, the Villagers who were charged with voting more than once in the last Federal election, more mask fighting results in the highest FAA fines in history, Japan’s Monkey Queen prevails, Germany seizes a massive Oligarch-owned yacht, and France seizes Roman Abramanovich’s luxury chateau.
“HOLY SHIT THEY FOUND IT”: Kathleen is amazed to read about the return of Charles Darwin’s missing original notebooks to Cambridge University, and scientists have found a new body part in the human lungs.
300K BABY EELS FOUND IN DUTCH SUITCASE: Kathleen rereads an article multiple times to determine the reason that 300K baby eels, otherwise known as “elvers” or “glass eels,” were being illegally shipped through Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. The elvers are a protected species and were destined for sale in Asia, fetching an approximate price of 6.2M Euro.
GEN Z + MILLENNIALS DISRUPTING POST-PANDEMIC WORKFLOW: A big fan of “the children,” Kathleen laughs out loud reading an article advising that Gen Z and Millennial members of the workforce are not just demanding flexible work hours and environments, but they want to work for companies that align with their own personal beliefs and values and will go jobless rather than compromise this position.
PROTESTER GLUES WRIST TO FLOOR AT NBA GAME: Kathleen laughs reading an article about a member of Direct Action Everywhere, an animal rights activism group, who attempted to glue herself to the floor of the Minnesota Timberwolves arena. The group is concerned with an egg farm owned by Glen Taylor, the longtime former Timberwolves governor.
BRITISH DJ HORRORS REVEALED: With the recent release of Netflix’s documentary on British DJ Jimmy Savile, Kathleen reads the backstory about the deceased DJ’s life and career, his history of committing sexual abuse, and the scandal that occurred after his death in 2011 when numerous complaints were raised about his behavior.
STUCKEY’S PECAN LOG MAKES A COMEBACK: Kathleen loves a fun gas station on a road trip, and is excited to read that Stephanie Stuckey, the granddaughter of the man who founded the famous Stuckey’s convenience store chain, recently purchased back her family’s business and wants to return the diminished brand to national prominence.

I am so perplexed. You are one of my favorite comedians. I have listened for many years and enjoyed your sense of humor and wit. As I listen to your pubcast, I hear about all the wonderful gifts you receive so I took time to show my thanks to you and made you a termite. Upper Minnesota, there are the fishing lakes, with fish we know, blue gill, crappie,,,, but a trip to the Canadian walleye lakes is a neat thing to do. Only once, for me, but it’s beautiful. Husband used to go every memorial week. The shore lunches are something else.
I was watching a webinar about Cryptocurrency and I knew the answer to a poll question - solely because I've been watching Kathleen's pubcasts!! This CPA is LEARNING by watching you Kathleen - bet you thought you never thought you'd hear that in your life! BTW, I was on the second Lewis Black Comedy Cruise and advised the ginger ale on the first night - I have a picture and several people ask if you're my sister or cousin when they see it. I'm not a Madigan as far as I know, but there are so many!!

I love a Cobb salad with Dorothy lynch dressing! A little goes a long way but I like the sweet tang. It’s made with tomato soup and it’s delicious 👅

Ok, millennial here: when we say we'd rather be unemployed, we are usually doing odd jobs to make money for gas, rent, etc. Most of us don't need as much physical crap as the generations before us to be happy. I did small jobs like tutoring, babysitting, etc. for years in school while some of my Gen X/Boomer friends around me were working themselves to death and were super stressed and sick a lot. I got a job at an insurance company and before i knew it, i had become like them. Now i work 50+ hours a week at a job that i love and that matches my values. I don't get paid a ton but I'm much healthier and happier than when i worked at a huge corporation for less hours and more pay.
Follow your Bliss, we had that hanging on the wall at one of the Libraries where I worked. Kids had to ask what it meant🤣 I was blessed to have fallen into my job while still in high school that became my career as a Youth Services Librarian.You have to love your job or what is the point!

I have a show recommendation. I just watched Captive Audience: a real american horror story on Hulu. It was really good. I also finished the rest of the Way Down. I was disappointed with the last episode. I wish they went into more detail with the interviews and footage.

Once I went on what the owner touted as a yacht- with $2800.00 bottles of tequila and 3 bedrooms. You know, it was nice, but I lived like 11 miles away, and while I did stay over (damn good tequila) it was not better than my rich cousin’s flat on Marina Green in SF, where you can see 2 bridges from the master shower. I’m just not impressed by boats - And one cruise settled that for me…Did you you cannot get off unless they park- NOT doing that again😝

I truly agree with "the children" wanting to make their lives count by supporting businesses they truly believe in, not just for money. On the other hand, it gets really cold sleeping in the alley. AND I bet the guys on Omaha Beach felt the same way but...I must be part Libra. :)

For Jimmy Savile, I was reading a lot of comments and there were plenty of folks saying back in the day that their parents wouldn't let them watch him or meet him, etc., cuz they were absolutely convinced he was skeezy and bad
British termite here and now living in Canada (hey Paddles!). We had no idea about Jimmy Saville. Every working class kid in the 70s and 80s wrote to this guy to make their dreams come true. He worked tirelessly for charity. The only people who seemed to know were part of the press or the BBC (who covered it up). GREAT Netflix documentary.
