If ever there was an episode that I wished the animators were able to match Horikoshi's art it would have been this one. Hori just goes too damn hard.

nah. What made the episode bad was that they followed the manga. The choreography of this fight in the manga was horrible, without any creativity This is one of the great flaws of horikoshi.

I'm satisfied with how these episodes were animated but after seeing the last 3 mha movies I can't lie I may have set my expectations a bit too high, either way I'm very excited for this next episode

i get it but at the same time look at mob psycho 100. Consistent every episode. Chainsawman. Jujutsu kaisen. But i cant complain this season of MHA has been really good

I really don't get why so many manga readers hate the animation. As a manga reader, I feel so bad for the animators because they had such high expectations. People shouldn't expect the anime to be a perfect replica of the manga. There are so many factors like the fucking fact that majority of manga readers read in black and white. Things will never be the same and I hope manga readers would realize that. Sry for the long essay these manga readers piss me off.
Exactly! There was never going to be any pleasing every single manga reader; the epicness of the situation got a lot of hopes very high. It's a great episode and the animation was great. Perfect? No. Still a great installment.
I read the manga and I try not to listen to the manga readers. Like every other day some one is dooming and glooming about something. You just have to tune it out after a while
Yeah I've read the manga as well and I gotta say I'm pretty surprised to see how disappointed a lot of people are with it. I knew what was coming and I still got goosebumps, the animation was fine and mha has always used still frames during combat so idk why anyone is surprised about a few of those getting thrown in. I'd just ignore all the nitpickers and naysayers because this season been an absolute banger so far.
Yes and Horikoshi is such a talented artist, I don't think animators can perfectly get everything identical to the manga bc of his art style
I didn't think the animation was as bad as many but still did find it disappointing. I'm getting tired of this "manga readers expectations are too high" BS though. Most are simply wanting the biggest moments to be animated on par with what has become standard in the industry for popular Shonen. What we got in this ep pales in comparison to what AoT, KNY, JJK, One Piece (Wano), Bleach, etc get in their big moments. Hell, even Spy x Family consistently looks better. People said the same stuff about manga readers overreacting in seasons 4 and 5 and then wanted to act all surprised when casuals started dropping the series left and right "out of the blue." People can recognize an adaptation's lackluster animation when they see it
Shigaraki got burned so bad he turned into a locked character 😂
We see in this episode that Bakugo and Deku truly take after each other when their backs are against the wall. Deku said he starts hurling insults when he gets into a really intense fight like Bakugo. Where his confidence flares up and he has an overwhelming desire to win. And in this episode, Bakugo embraces Deku's behavior of running out to save whoever needs help. Anyone, even if the other person feels they don't need it. When Deku is pushed into a corner, he adopts Bakugo's win to save mentality. And now Bakugo has adopted Deku's save to win mentality
Now onto Shiggy, that boy has the endurance of a lifetime. Taking blasts from Endeavor. Strikes from a dragon. Blasts from Bakugo. Multiple 100% smashes from Deku. All while resisting AFO's voice in his head. In fact, the only reason AFO was able to temporarily take over was because Shigaraki's body and mind were overwhelmed for a second. Which says a lot about Tomura's sheer willpower. Both sides are going beyond their limits.

@@bipo4715 bruh the class a vs class b fights at the beginning of last season was top tier i can't even tell you how many times i rewatched match 3 and 4. And from what I heard this aint shit compared to when deku leaves school and becomes a vigilante type of hero thats when this is supposed to be at its peak. But overall that's how you know it's just a great series when so many points feel like it's at its "peak" its like they took the multi character thing from naruto but did a wayyy better job to the point i love just about every character and everyone has there moments. And just think when all of these hero's become adults and where there power levels are gonna be compared to now.. we just getting started bruh 🙌🏿

It's mainly the extreme censorship and use of still frames. If you read the manga the panels are way more expressive and intense. Not complaining just pointing out
It seems what Bones’ President said about the animation team struggling to keep up with Horikoshi’s art is starting to rear it’s head a bit.
A testament to Horikoshi’s art for sure, he’s so good the animation team struggles when things get intense!
I also think adapting four intense chapters played a part in this episode’s quality.

My boy Bakugo has come a long way since ep 1.
The animation wasn't as bad as people are making it out to be in my opinion, the only problem I had was the censorship, studio bones need to do better in that category, again it's just my opinion

I see no reason to blame Bones for censorship when it has more to do with the network the show airs on and the timeslot they put it in
As the Blackwhip user said, from that point on, the other quirks each needed a suitable situation that would cause Midoriya to seek their manifestation.

This episode was phenomenal I loved it more than I did I the manga fight, animation,music,story and emotional build up with the flashback was amazing this season has been my favorite TV season of 2022 awesome reaction guys:)

Regarding the 4th OFA user, the way I interpreted Bakugo’s discussion with All Might was that Bakugo thinks that OFA slowly kills the user because of how much power is in the quirk and how much it requires from the users body.
Taylor maybe forgot it but they say last season that the next quirk unlocked would ne Float (in the wet dream lol)
As a Manga reader I personally loved this episode yeah sure it could've been better but still it was a solid ep also I love the contrast between Manga reader being disappointed while anime onlys absolutely loving this episode?
And this, people, is where everything went downhill for our beloved heroes.
This reminded me of the moment in Naruto when Sasuke protected Naruto from Haku's needles. Hopefully Bakugo survives. This season has been getting crazier each week.

@@willfanofmanyii3751 I think I know the scene your talking about but he didnt use his quirk on her, he used it on the knife she was holding which was locked in place so when she held onto it it look like she was floating or also locked in place.
I specifically remember Rock Lock saying he couldn’t lock living things in place.

The episode wasn't bad by any means but I can't help the fact that due to time restraint this episode isn't what it should've been.
This was supposed to be the biggest fight in all of mha up to this point and honestly, there were much lesser fights with infinitely better animation.
I wish the publishers gave studio bones an extra year of dev time
Bakugo man… I remember the day this cliffhanger dropped. Anime twitter was INSANE. Shout out to Nobuhiko constantly raising the bar and killing his role as Bakugo. No one else compares for me. This whole arc was so intense I couldn’t put the manga down until I had finished it.

If anything, the voice acting and score carried this episode. The best fight of the arc reduced to 90% still frames? Guess Class 1A vs 1B got that Nakamura treatment, but Deku vs Shiggy doesn't? Heck, Mirko got more love and animation than this fight. Even the preview is another powerpoint slideshow.

Lack of blood and impact frames, and the constant slow downs for character monologue break the flow of the fight which is disappointing but im hoping the blue ray can at least add the blood. Would of been nice to have a solid part of just anime only pure fighting in the air to make it really memorable. (Also the lack of blood on bakugo being IMPALED really killed the impact of it
What chapter is it when they're going to giving Mr.aizawa his 20k diamond studded necklace because yo... Him and deku are just tanking, without backing down. But ngl I hope bakugo is okay, I'll be honest and I'll forever stand by this but season 1-4 bakugo was a bitch that I wouldn't of care if he would of died, but season 5 was when he started to get some character development and actually become a good person. Though I don't think we ever seen a deku rage moment like this before
They butchered a bunch of good scenes from the manga in this episode so bad

Ok I’m being 100% here just for my sake but for the past 2 seasons the manga has dominated the anime I don’t know what’s going on but the anime even with voices line and soild voice acting has failed to capture the essence of the manga I feel like I’m just watching at this point and I don’t mean to trash the animators of course but this is the second biggest arc of my hero that if I’m being honest there not horrible but there not great either I wanna here other people opinions on this
As a manga reader, every season of MHA has been great, I just like the entire story, its not all about the fights. I dont get why people are so hyper critical of media these days.
Y'all have to understand that censorship, plays a part in animes vs mangas where it's more raw and uncut this is a shounen so its not as gory I think the adaption has been great thus far it's not all about fights

Totally forgot to mention but Taylor was asking about Deku getting Nana’s quirk mid-battle like that. In the manga, Shigaraki actually successfully managed to touch the ground and activate Decay. Deku basically activated Float instinctively in that moment to lift everyone off the ground to save them, like a hidden defense mechanism. Float is basically the perfect counter to decay and they show that here with how he can fight him in the sky without fear of touching the ground and getting Thanos’d.
I don’t usually complain that much about manga to anime stuff, but I wish they could’ve made that moment clearer in the anime and not changed it because some people were a little confused by it!
