damn, Jahmal is definitely not slowing down ! The wallie over to 5050 was insane! Big up to one of best East Coast legends. Cheers also to Josh Stewart for always being there to capture the action and to edit in this perfect look.
Another awesome movie from Josh Stewart. No bangers, double stairs sw hardflips, energy drinks motivation, gold medals... Just nice skateboarders, nice vibe...and NY.
So where do you usually skate here in the bay? I just moved back to SF and am dying to skate something new, besides just cruising the hills by SFU like I do every night
Dude, I´m writing from Lisbon, Portugal... Hit the locals at DLXSF and ask for some skate spots; 3rd & army, Potrero del Sol skatepark, skating the streets or bombing hills like GX 1000 could be an option :)
@@patinhofeio9694 - hell yeah, thank you. I'm going by dlxsf later today anyways. Bombing hills here in SF is the best feeling in the fucking world, feels amazing to do again.
nothing makes me happier than seeing my favorite skaters still killing it and still rolling hard after all these years, its very inspiring to see guys you grew up watching in the mid-90s still ripping, never give up and never stop skating no matter how old you get. I am 39 and still skate street as if I was 15.
Had to watch this again. If you've never skated NYC then this is definitely what it feels like. Skating is a lifestyle. Not a hobby or even a sport. Some people live it and some people just do it. No pun intended
That worked well so well together.. the drumming the skating filming ny everything Sick Jamal is still bonkers .. haha bonkers nah good Hopps x cons people
Refreshing to see this type of skateboarding. Shout out to all the independent companies coming up on the east coast. I honestly forgot this was a “converse” video.
Can we get a full quality download for this video? I need to enjoy the 16mm in it's full glory not in 480p compressed youtube quality, takes away most the magic ;(
Does anyone know where Jahmal lives now? What he is up to? I used to skate with him in between 1988-1992 in Boston. I remember when he used to do front side grab airs down the stairs at copley before he could even ollie. I believe he was riding a Santa Cruz Rob Roskopp during this time. I was so happy when I heard that he had turned pro. Great video!!!
We shot the jazz band playing at a club uptown called Smoke Jazz & Supper Club. But Jahmal discovered the group at another rad jazz club in the W Village called "Smalls". Thanks for asking, that's awesome that you're interested in that aspect of the piece!
lol we used to buy cons 350s in the bargain bin to skate on in the early 90s, ironic now cons are now skateboarding shoes funny that it came full circle.
His name is Larry Wright. He got some notoriety in the 90's as a young kid when Levi's used him in a TV commercial campaign. And he was also featured in the first Stereo video "A Visual Sound" in 1996. He's a legend! You can still catch him at Union Square on the L platform playing nearly every day.

2:50 is art. What a great visual.

This was sick! Straight out of the Stereo handbook, as well as some Eastern Exposure feel- nice job Josh! The skating is sick, Jamal still ripping!
