The huge difference between Louie compared to Nyjah and Tyshawn is creativity and style. Honestly, Louie's just more fun to watch on a skateboard. This part was insanely well crafted, and the skating was incredible. I hate that I'm making this a conversation about SOTY, but I truly hope he gets it this year. Louie deserves it.
Don't forget about T-Funk. Talk about more fun to watch! I agree about Louie as well.
Don't forget about TJ Rogers. Dude skated through cancer like a G! I wish my parents could have done the same. Go hug your parents, man. Life is so much shorter than we realize sometimes. Sorry for being heavy, but that's just life man!

Louie is the current pinnacle of skateboarding. Literally a perfect skater it's hard to even have a single criticism about him.
I appreciate how often he smiles after landing a trick. Such creative use of marginal spots.

Louies variety of spots, trick selection, control, style, work output, thrasher covers, creativity, etc. etc. He deserves SOTY in my opinion.
If we’re talking work output then Nyjah is WAY above any SOTY contenders. Man has put out about 3 times as much footage as anyone else and still has another full length coming. Love Louie but Nyjah deserves it if we go by the work they put in.

@@WhatisReal11 What I felt on a lot of Louie's tricks, I didn't feel at all on Nyjahs. Nyjah had big tricks, big rails but Louie's variety and creativity blows Nyjah out the water. Just the interesting trick selection and spots Louie skates, the lines he flows through vs Nyjah's part of just stair set after stair set, mostly single tricks, few lines.
@@WhatisReal11 Nyjah dropped one of the most insane video parts for sure, he was doing insane technical tricks on huge handrails, doing lines in between gnarly rail set ups. However, he's been injured most of the year so it's not fair to compare him to Louie, Tyshawn and TFunk when they've been working all year long. It would be like Lebron being injured all year long and the NBA still puts him in the running for MVP with his accumulation of stats from previous years.
i loved tjs footy, i really really do, but louis has it ALLLL. no weakness anywhere in his game. he put out like 4 parts too, hes did it all: big rails, big gaps, technical spots, ledge wizardry, tasteful trick selection, perfect style, jedi board control, hillbombs, thrasher covers, switch game go crazy, gritty spots dont faze him, no cliche bullshit, multiple deadly/life threatening spots(that front feeble pop out made me scream), legendary spots that somehow are not blown out, good fits and imo the songs were different and cooler than most any other predictable vid w rap or rock. he made a part just at one university and stuck an nbd in it, nobody is doing that besides him. WHAT DIDNT HE DO and do perfectly? the other contenders suffer from being too easily comfortable sticking to one thing they do well, like nyjah and big rails, but louis stands out.

Louie might just be the most versatile skater on earth. I think him and Ishod are a league of their own when it comes to being able to skate every style (handrails, gaps, transition, tech, Manny, etc).

I think I gotta change my SOTY pick to Louie after this part. He’s been so consistently good for longer than most pro’s careers. Love how he clearly keeps the uniqueness of each spot in mind when skating.
Who’d you have before? I was pulling for Tfunk but after seeing this and being reminded just how insanely stylish, creative _and_ gnarly Louie can be, I’m 100% hoping he gets it.

Louie is the SOTY imo, his skating is seriously a work of art, and the amount of passion he has for it really shows in his parts.

For me it's also how natural he looks on his board. Like it's an extension of his body. Nobody skates like Louie, for a reason.
I thought it should be 100% Nyjah because he released arguably the most impressive part in history, but honestly, Louie released at least as impressive part a ~week(?) later. I feel like his tricks are less likely to be performed by anyone else (I don't think anyone else in the world would do this flip at the end for example, it's like Mason's but 2x). IMHO it's only between Nyjah and Louie and I would give it to both :)
Pretty sure 90% of pros can do all these tricks though

Yep. Effortless, loose and stylish. Nyjah and Tyshawn are insanely skilled and gifted, but also unrelatable and not exactly fun to watch.
The best thing about Louie is he makes you want to go skate. He makes you want to go outside and be creative on the board and that is what makes him the best. Tyshawn is sick, but we watch his part thinking "damn he is so so good, I'd never be able to pop that high." With Louie you sit there and think "not only is this guy amazingly talented, but he is so creative and now I want to go to my local spot and try something funky." Nyjah, let's not go there. Louie has been killing it for years, and not a bad word is said about Louie. Thrasher give the man his prize!
Tyshawn to me is just a one trick pony. He has huge pop and that's it.

You need to try some cons. One stars are great, chucks are great if you're into very little protection...but Louie's shoe is really good in both of the builds, highly recommend his shoe.

One of the most insane parts I’ve seen in recent time
erik has been so consistent this year. not really enough variety in his tricks to contend for soty yet but he’s still getting better. deserves love for his overall year though.
I saw some footage from him years ago and wasn’t impressed at all. But now he’s great to watch. Definitely improved big time.

Louie is the peoples' soty... this man has FUN and pushes skateboarding not just by doing the hardest stuff, but by approaching everything he does creatively and in a fresh way. Majority of skaters aren't skating because they wanna go pro or do the craziest trick, its because it's fun- it is an escape and an art form... Louie embodies that and does it better than all. @@joshcalvo I have to agree, he does everything the hard way with so much grace, this kind of talent is something very few have (that kind of skaters with naturally amazing styles like Dylan or Dixon but much much better and gnarlier - it's not even close).
I am not sure I would give him SOTY though. While I did like this part more than I liked Nyjah's and I thought it was more innovative, Nyjah did put out two insane parts. IMHO no one else should be even considered, people just like to be hipsters and argue T-Funk but no it's not even close.

I wouldn’t have supported Nyjah, because as I see it; though Nyjah is undeniably a fantastic skater, he embodies more the aspect of skateboarding that we see at street league and the olympics.
A type of very one dimensional way of skating that focuses on a lane that just pushes for longer rails and to execute tricks that have already been done but just in a more scary looking obstacle.

@@joshcalvo And TJ is even more one dimensional. For me, SOTY doesn't exist anymore. The quality of Louie's footage is historical, TJ just replicated his last SOTY part (amazing but ok he can jump high). Seems like a dishonest decision and it's sad.

Here’s the difference I feel that makes me say Nyjah, I felt the same about T-Funk.. there was never a dull moment, I was in constant anticipation, excitement and a little fear for them. I love Louie, been a fan since his hair was as long as he was, but isn’t something like SOTY suppose to give you such feeling and even emotion. This was incredible but I’m just talking out loud here.
