About 10 years ago, I was fortunate enough going into high school that my parents agreed to let me build a small 8' wide 2.5ft tall mini ramp in our front yard in a suburban neighborhood where the ramp took up 1/4 of the yard. Being 14 with limited power tool experience and friends who also didnt have power tool experience, the ramp came out pretty janky. We had free-handed the transition and it made some parts of the transition feel a bit like a mini pump track, but it made about a year and a half of great memories before 2 old ladies that used to walk their dog by every day scowling at us complained to the city enough and we got letters to take it down.
Ever since then I knew one day Id buy a house with decent enough land that I could build another, even better miniramp that no old ladies would complain about, and it seems that might happen in the next year or two, so the timing on this video could not be more perfect and I will take these tutorials as gospel haha.

The crabby old ladies kill me. You all weren't hurting or bothering anyone. But they still felt the need to take away your happiness all because they had nothing better to do with their time. I hope you get to have that house with land so you can build a new one with a big sign on the side saying "No Old Ladies" lol

No one’s gonna mention the pretty cat that casually appears on the ramp

FINALLY SOMEONE ACTUALLY BREAKS THIS PART DOWN. Thank you sir.
Every other video gives like 75% and then another video will give you 8% and so after ten more videos you can somewhat glue together what a 7ft transition means and how to get it.
Thank you sir. I subscribed. I thought I was but apparently I had only subscribed to the carpentry channel.

It would be cool if you did a review for Decathlon trucks or boards. They have acquired FuryTrucks company and they are amazing for the price. Also they sell cheap Canadian maple decks.

Not out of the question to help with a ramp. I'm definitely going to Topaz ASAP.

I use a string. You just have to tie a short piece at the top of the marker so it stays vertical.

Dear Ben, thanks, very helpfull video's! Question: in your first (episode) video you mention that your transition has a 6 feet radius. But in this video you take of (when drawing the line for the transition) the 6 inch for the flat bottom. Wouldn't that make the radius effectively 5,5 feet? Regards form the Netherlands..

True that’s my take as well. No disrespect to him at all. I love this channel. But Ben really has got a 36.5” ramp (deck to flat bottom) and a 66.5” radius for a transition. Not a 3.5’ ramp with a 6’ tranny as described in other videos.

Hey dude. I'm in the process of planning a 4 foot mini as well. A friend of mine is in on helping me. We're having a disagreement on the transition. He is insisting on an 8 foot transition. I think it will be too mellow for my preference. I figured 7 foot radius will give it more of a swooping lift at the coping and also better for rocking the board. I see you went with 6 foot. What's your take on an 8 foot radius for a 4 foot mini? I just don't think it will be good for having too many coping trick options.

8 foot tranny will feel like a flat bank. Waaaay too mellow IMO

You could always “find” supplies. There’s a dumpster I know of in my city that throws away full sheets of good plywood sometimes and 8 foot long 2x4s. They yell at you for dumpster diving while they’re open, but at night it’s all good
