Great back story and something about yourself and the path that got you where you are today. We need more real stuff like that and less of the old drama.
Helping you, also helps Merlin. He admires your jet ski knowledge. And you, his automotive skills. Friends helping each other is the best therapy, imo. I am talking for free and without any advance thought of money. You do other things to show appreciation. Like, I hope you bought the lunch, Jim, lol.
Thanks for sharing your story, it really helps us understand where you are coming from. You could call it Story Time Under The Hood. Like Fabrats do, it really adds to your channel. Thanks Jimmy
I’ve been working on cars, trucks, engines and builds for 40 years my first build was a 1960 Chevy apache 10 I replace the 235 and three on the tree with a 327 300 hp from a wrecked corvette and turbo 350 trans when I was 21 but I’m definitely not in the same ballpark as Merlin but I don’t think many people are , good luck Jimmy you’re a awesome dude love your channel.
Almost never get to meet a real genius . That Merlin is a heck of a guy ! Thanks Jim , now I know exactly what to do with my 93 F350 2X crewcab Looongbed.
I really enjoy your channel. You and Merlin are a great team. My dream is to have a Lathe and Mill like you have in your shop. Keeping the skills alive. We are the last generation to have the knowledge to pass it on.
your gonna love it . i have a 1972 ford f250 4x4 that i installed a 1st gen 5.9 cummins in it with the getrag 5 speed . dana 60s front and rear with 4 wheel disk brakes. i own four pick ups and a jeep and that one is by far my most favorite one to drive and it gets 21 mpg all day long.
I thought I was going to be a commercial pilot too, add 80 hours solo, when to take the FAA physical, the color blindness is going to restrict my license so much no commercial possibilities. You never know where life is going to take you
Jim, you are Merlin should fly up/down over here to Sierra Vista and take a gander at "Fort Auto Parts" in Huachuca city. Old cars galore. The owner passed and his kids just want to sell the cars. I bet there is a project or ten in that yard for ya'll. Let me know & I can pick you up at the airport.
Jimmy I’m glad to see the old Cummins finally starting up after many years of sitting on the back burner!!! Lol!! I bet for you hearing it run for the first time in many years definitely helps motivate you in getting everything all rapped up on it so that you and Merlin can ride in it to lunch and even maybe take the ladies to dinner hopefully!!! Lol!! I guess that might be a tight squeeze!!! Lol!!! I definitely can’t wait to see it all finished up and also see what you pick for wheels and tires also!!! A nice set of wheels and tires can definitely change a look of a vehicle also so I definitely hope that you pick a really cool set!!!
So as mechanical as you and Merlin are and you guys don’t have your A&P licenses? Yet you have your pilot licenses!! somethings better than nothing. I guess anyway, enjoy the video thank you!!
G'day from Australia Jimmy and merlin I have a 79 80 xlt 4wd f100 with a 6.247 perkins that was a factory operation here in Australia its 1 of 200 built here its no speed machine but it has heaps of touque
High time helicopter pilot here. Fixed-wing too. I don’t think I’ve ever had a “mundane flight“, from Ranch work, gathering cattle to flying off shore oil and gas support. I also have a Cummins dentside swap I’m working on. I am at a stopping point where I don’t have enough room between the steering and the firewall to fit the oil pan and transmission adapter. What did you do at the firewall?
I remember Merlon grabbed a big dead blow hammer and bent it inward. If i recall it was driver side at the back of the head. It only took a little to clear.
Cool beans… does the accelerator still go through the firewall in the same place? I need to pull the cab, order the new mounts and just get her done…. Part of the delay is the truth that my heart is in doing a pre-war truck like a 34 Ford or a Diamond T. Something like Merlon’s Dodge Bros, only flatbed. But the 79 F350 should be so much easier and road-ready sooner.
I think Jimmy is great ! However, watching him assemble then take the same thing apart 20X is boring !!! Tedious !! When Merlin comes over things get done !!!
Its alive. Merlin is the friend we all want
Good job Jimmy and thank you Merlin for helping Jimmy
Merlin breathes life in to everything he touches its infectious.
That’s one infection I want! 😂😂😂

With the back story on the F100 give the story how you met Merlin
I think they should do a reenactment of their meeting.

Sweet

Diesel hands vs jetski hands , different tools.. ,lmbo..
The wire will work fine. Once it starts it doesn't send any oower threw it. So alls it does is send juice to the starter
Great story. Cool you got some time to work on such a cool project. Gonna be a great Jet Ski pulling machine.

I've been wanting to do this swap on my 84 F150 step side but it seems like a huge undertaking. Also, are you using an Allison trans or a Dodge unit?
Merlin built him a transmission.
i hate those spring clamps….convert to the screw tighten clamp
F- 100?
Is that like a T-100?
You fly helicopters?
Was that a Rotary 3 Phase Converter that was switched on to power the lathe?
Best!
Yes, it sure was. :-)
@@jetskijim007 Didn't need much time to stabilize or is it just that the old lathe's speed control isn't that fussy?
Best!
