    Nice, but to make it nicer you could use 3060 cross sections in front and rear and use rounded profile 3030R (90 degrees) to connect corners. This would give you nice rounded look.

    @TheAluminumCarpenter nice job congratulation of the idea and the filming. I am going to do similar thing for my Van. I wonder what you have used on 1:40 in your film? I have impression on the first view that it was a aluminum welding tool :) Or Was it the Impact Drill? If this was the impact drill what N moment have you setup? I am looking for an idea to lock the screws against unscrewing? Do you have any recommendation?

    Hey, nice build! how do you think what max load on this rack? is it possible to sit or stand on rack? I now trying to decide what to choose 4040 or 3030, thanks :)

    • @TheAluminumCarpenter
      @TheAluminumCarpenter  Рік тому +2

      Thanks 😀 i never had a chance to test max load. Cos its a customer’s build. But i am sure it boils down to the mounting brackets and not the extrusion. Depending on your vehicle, i still suggest 3030. Cos 40 is already overkill.

      I didnt take a good shot at that. But for your info, mounting brackets for these are specific to each individual vehicles.

    Great idea. How is the sound when driving? I'm concerned the square shape with middle groove makes a whistle or become noisy with wind .

      @TheAluminumCarpenter  Рік тому +3

      @@AVGideasJM no, the type of joinery chosen in this roof rack build was meant for ferrying camping gear. To house people, different joinery will have to be used in order to guarantee strength. Despite that, i still need more info from you to have a better idea.
