This is brilliant! I've been looking for a way to make a good rack for my Discovery 1, and I believe a modified version of this could work for me! Thank you for your ingenuity, and for sharing! Also, your video production quality is excellent!
Thanks! Surprisingly low noise. Only noise is wind audible from the first 2 rails that are right above the sunroof. Remedied by stuffing a strip of pipe insulation that was ripped down the middle. Fitted it in gap of the front 2 bars 👍
All racks make noise unfortunately. Hopefully you used the half size unistrut instead of the full size. Also, depending on where you have the rack placed on the roof. Farther back the better. You can also “pitch/tilt” the rack to be shorter in the front. Last is cutting pipe insulation wrap in strips and wedge them in the unistrut channels so wind won’t catch. hopefully some of this helps!
First time I've seen welded unistrut. Looks fantastic.
ive been watching these diy rack your is the best one
Nice job! I am wondering how did you made mounts for roof rack because those Discovery rails are curvey and unparallel...

Yes! Awesome to hear! 🤙
NICE WORK! I have a unistrut rack from home depot as well! I'll be incorporating that rounded corners style from you as well, it looks much nicer!
I’m building this!
Thanks!
How is the rack lasting? What level of abuse do you put it through?
Looks fantastic! How is the road noise? Does it whistle a lot? Curious if all of the holes help or add noise.

This video gained you a subscriber.
Hey, the mounting brackets that vertically come off the track to secure the unistrut... where did you find those?
Hey! I actually made them! Watch my other roof rack video and it shows a little how they’re made.
Look very nice 👍 what is the weight? Of platform.
Definitely looks good. What might be the best way to attach to roof rails, or perhaps cross bars?
U bolts
Do you have the specs for the screw you used? m8? how long?
that thing is going to whisle like hell
Any idea how to mount on a car like a Hyundai Pallisade, where the brand solutions clamp on to the side... rails? Not sure how to call them..
How did you mount the unistrut system oto your SUV
Generic roof rail mounts
What did you use for the feet?
Great video, I have a LR3 as well. How did you attach the mounts to the car? I see you welded an L bracket but I do not have access to weld.
Hey Jose! Search Amazon or eBay for any generic LR3 roof rail mount. Anything that has a mounting point that you can bolt to will work fine 👍
@@brandonpetrykowski Thanks anyway you would have a link? Much appreciated!
You can do nuts and bolts
How many kilo or lbs the roof rack ??
I just did this roof rack but unfortunately the wind is so loud and it howls. How do you have this from not howling?

It doesn’t look strong to hold much.
