Hey thanks for introducing me to Burbot. I have never seen one before and I grew up in the tacoma area. That’s funny. I always felt catfish kind of gross looking but I loved catching and eating them. Burbot kind of remind me of Can’t fish. Thanks for the lesson.
Did you get to stop and check out the coulee dam? It's supposed to be bigger than the hover dam. I've yet to explore that upper eastern part of Washington. This summer tho 👊
@@NWFishingSecrets yea my dude! The last three years I've made trips to the Moses lake and Othello area for smallies, largies and walleye. I love eastern Washington fishing. The fat smallie in my profile pic was from Othello.

Dude i love how dedicated you are for some of these videos. Sleeping in your van or car .. hahha too good . You go this hard on the weekends annnnd work!?
lol dude I love it 🤙 It's hard as hell to go all out fishing like that, but it's my passion and I'll do anything to keep new vids coming. Fish on brother!! 🎣
Love, love burbot. Up here in Michigan we get them through the ice right after sunset until a couple hours later. Usually have the best luck on cut bait like sucker chunks on small treble hooks with enough weight to keep it just off bottom. Biggest this winter was a 5.5 lber in Feb. Favorite eating fish!
NW Fishing Secrets Thanks man! We just leave them out on deadsticks with bells attached in rod holders. Once the bell goes off you run over and reel them in. Have also gotten them jigging dead minnows on glow jigs pounding bottom. The more fishy/smelly the bait the more likely to get their attention from my experience
I'm up here fishing the kootenai river is bonners ferry when I can. while working the fire camp. have caught some great rainbows these past two weeks. going for burbot this weekend. then going to venture into Montana and fish where the yaak river and kootenai river meet.
I want start by saying love your videos I’ve seen all of them. I missed out on your care package but will continue to watch for it again. I’ve always wanted to try burbot I live in Salt Lake City I’ve heard some of the waters out here have them.
Man that wind! 🍃💨🍃💨🍃💨 Tho it was a gnarly looking fish, it did look tasty at the end. Never had heard or seen that type of fish, learned something new 😊👍
Glad I was able to show a new Washington species! They ain't lookers and are slimy as heck, but damn do they taste good 🤤 Definitely try fishing for em! 🎣

I got one of these at Palmer lake on accident, kinda freaked me out lol. I tossed it back not knowing what it was but after hearing how good they are man I wish I had known I could have kept it! I don't recall reading about them in the book but I'm still a noob. I immediately ordered the craw after watching this thanks for teaching me more about it, I caught mine on a meps #4 spinner & from what I'm told by my neighbor that's pretty rare to get them on the shore.
Just a heads up, because you consider yourself a "noob", dont mistake a bourbot for a snakehead. They're practically identical except for the teeth. You dont want to lip a snakehead.
9:00 looks so much like our part of the snake river canyon here in southern Idaho! Awesome stuff man. Edit: That wind also reminds me of southern Idaho😂
Burbot is by far the most delicious freshwater fish I've ever eaten. Hands down. Weird thing is, up here in the Colville valley, they're super dark. The camo is black and green, rather than brown and beige. And I've never seen one with a white belly. Crazy how just a few hundred miles away, it looks almost like a different species
