As he said himself, he is harsher on HK because these people are supposedly "trained chefs". When he is on Masterchef, where the contestants are amateurs, it's a totally different vibe.

Well, it's actually because masterchef has NEVER been about shouting at contestants. If you watch the actual Masterchef and not the shitty US version, you will understand. Only reason they put Ramsey on it is because he is well known. Definitely not his decision, they would have told him no shouting on this show.

Ramsey may be entitled to be angry while working in a position of authority. The problem is, every nobody loser thinks they are entitled to be angry at everyone for zero reason, and then they fall back onn the excuse: "I was trying to help them." Gordon is clearly an alcoholic like his father, and that is why he is always angry. Gordon is NOT a drill instructor who trains soldiers to face life and death. Gordon is one step above a patty flipper. Inability to control one's emotions is a clear sign of immaturity.

The telling point here is that at the beginning, he was more mild and less dramatic. but the industry figured out that you can just make up drama and it sells, so he took on that persona and really leaned into being a jerk. it wasn't "the abuse he suffered" because that's a tired narrative in itself: abuse victims can turn out bad, but MOST people who are abused do not become bad. Gordon Ramsey did not. it was the producers who wanted him that way on TV.

the video kinda over dramatizes why he is what he is. gordon is past all the suffering and abuse. the anger he has in the kitchen is largely from a few factors:
    1) in high quality fine dining, the pressure is at a peak. you can see it in "boiling point", the slightest mistake can cost an entire kitchen's cohesion and the chance at a star
    2) in hells kitchen, hes working with incompetent professional chefs. a professional who cant do their job in a high pressure kitchen is gonna get a bollocking
    3) fiery tempers is tradition in a fine dining european kitchen

I mean i think although some of it is from his childhood (what your environment is like growing up effects how you act whether you like it or not), i think most of the reason why hes so 'angry' is because that was how he was taught. He worked under Marco Pierre White who used aggression as a tool for teaching, and helped him become the successful chef that he is. He probably just thinks that as he was taught like that then others should be too 🤷🏻

He isn't angry at the start. Hells Kitchen released raw uncut dinner services and you could see how moderate he is and he even jumps in to help cook. Its when they've been there for 3 or 4 hours having served only 4 tables where he starts getting pissed. If you ever want to see a REAL dinner service with the real Gordon Ramsay (not only the highlights of his anger what they put on TV) then watch Hells Kitchen Served Raw on the official Hells Kitchen UA-cam channel.
He said to a guy when he seemed loud and angry: "I don't hate you, I want to help you." But of course they cut that from the full release. Another time when he jumped on a woman's station to help her cook a pasta dish, and he was constantly motivating her "well done, that's it", but they cut that too. At the end of the day one of these cooks are going to be the executive head chef at one of his restaurants, on a salary of a quarter of a million dollars every year, of course he is going to be hard on them. He is running two full kitchens, remembering almost everything everyone is doing, and through all of that, I have NEVER seen him faulter or make a big mistake. He is just a different breed.

Respectfully disagree. While his content is enjoyable, there's so many dumb mistakes (like calling pounds, euros) as well as poorly researched information.

The whole editing "playing up his character" is such a stupid argument, the same people who complain are the same people that wouldn't tune in and watch a guy go "oh that salmon is slightly overdone, sorry darling you'll have to start again, but you can do it!" like do these people not know entertainment, IShowSpeed is a character ffs but we still understand that when he does a full fkn dolphin dive at his monitor/pc that its funny (at least somewhat I know humour is subjective)

He's an incredible man. He does yell more for the dramatic effects, but that's understandable given the nature of television programming. He's worth more than 220 million. His assets, brand, business revenue, ad revenue, TV revenue, including $13,000,000.00 annually from SAG for royalties. His total market value is very close to $1 billion.
