I love England and the British People. I am a big fan of SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL. My favorite author is C. S. LEWIS. My 2nd favorite author is Lee Murray ( she is from 🇳🇿 New Zealand). My love affair with England came about in 1969. I was a member of the U. S. Armed Forces (Marine Corps). I was several thousand miles from home and was involved in a war that was destroying my native country, The United States of America. I had just turned 19 years old. I was homesick, scared and lonely. Those at war always look forward to mail call and I was looking forward to a letter from my girl who I was going to marry . I hadn’t heard from he for several weeks. I wasn’t all that concerned because my unit moved from place to place and delays were common. One morning I saw a fellow Marine I was friends with and lived in my same town. He said “I’m sorry about what happened to you. That was really wrong.” I told him I don’t know what you mean. He said “you know, Cindy dumping you and marrying that draft dodger.” I was stunned to say the least. It was all true! She finally did write me a “Dear John” letter saying she couldn’t marry anyone who was killing innocent people in Vietnam. I was crushed! Several days later when we had Mail Call I didn’t even go see if I had anything because no one was writing me. On of the Marines in the Squad came to me and said “they called your name at mail call”. You got a package and the First Sergeant has it. Before I could check it out my First Sergeant came up to me a handed me a package the size of a shoebox. I saw it was addressed to me with a return address LONDON, U.K. I was puzzled because I didn’t know anyone from there. Well, I opened the box and to my surprise it was full of notes and thank you cards. There were even a couple of drawings. The box had come from a group of School Children in the U.K. They said things like “THANK YOU!” “BE SAFE!” and some funny things like kids would say “I hope you have good food”! One even said “Try not to get killed. It’s not any fun!” Sorry about the long story but this triggered some memories. No matter how bad things get there are still kind , loving and good people in this world. In some way those children saved my life. I will always love them and England. @@Nahi-1.1 I can’t understand a word you said?
The reverse isn't true is it?
@@splodge561 depends on who you ask. Irish nationalists will probably say no but most don't have that attitude. But you can't say how the reverse is true for England treated Ireland. So in the end it's understandable that some would hold a grudge against a country who in the past mistreated it. But the majority don't which is important, and that goes for both sides.
Favourite country I've been is Spain as I used to live there when I was younger so I see it as my 2nd country even though I'm not Spanish I myself.
Favourite country I would like to visit is Japan as I like the culture, scenery looks amazing in photos, especially outside of Tokyo in rural areas and people seem very respectful

Surprisingly, I've never been to any of the countries you have listed as I do normally go for hot climate countries - I've seen 19/20 countries in Asia, a bit of Caribbean, 9 Middle Eastern countries (Asia and Africa), Indian Ocean Islands (Maldives, Seychelles and Mauritius) and Mediterranean countries (Spain, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Malta, Cyprus and Turkey). Shockingly I haven't been to Scotland, Wales and Ireland even though I have visited around 35 countries around the world - never been north of Newcastle but I have mainly travelled around the Southern parts of England as well as the Midlands which is where I'm from
@@brothersman524 I hate hot climate countries, they are so uncomfortable.
From the cold north, I admire the British: music, movies and comedy, resilience and intelligence.
We share history, although it's not perfect
She finally did write me a “Dear John”
letter saying she couldn’t marry anyone who was killing innocent people in Vietnam. They said things like
“THANK YOU!” “BE SAFE!” and some funny things like kids would say “I hope you have good food”! One even said “Try not to get killed. It’s not any fun!” Sorry about the long story but this triggered some memories.
No matter how bad things get there are still kind , loving and good people in this world. In some way those children saved my life. I will always love them and England. I went to the U.K. in 2013 and I loved it. I intend to return again someday. That’s why my favorite country in England. I LOVE ENGLAND!
SEMPER FI!
