- Buck makes a bad mistake on this episode of Match Game. Watch and find out!
Buck Owens, Brett Somers, Gary Burghoff, Gloria DeHaven, Richard Dawson, and Patti Deutsch - Фільми й анімація
In case anyone is wondering, Gloria DeHaven was an MGM starlet in the 1940s and early 50s who was known for her appearances in many of the studio's musicals. One of her well-known roles was as Judy Garland's flighty sister in "Summer Stock".
Wasn’t she a friend of Joe Kennedy?
@@helenlogsdon7822 Don't know.
My Godfather Bank answer was "Spaghetti Dinner"! Too logical? Maybe I would have matched Patty .... close enough?
Brett thought Christopher Lee was in the Martial Arts movies. She mistook him for Bruce Lee. It's ironic that nobody knew who Christopher Lee was considering he played Dracula and they do a lot of Dracula questions.
I'd like to think that Christopher Lee would be on the board if the question were asked today.
Christopher Georges wife Lynda was on MG a few times .
@@770WT Yep, I've seen Lynda Day George on MG a few times.
Probably because Bela Lugosi is universally known for playing Dracula, and though it was low budget Christopher Lee's version was as well
Seriously! There were a lot of cops and their wives on this show.
Cops and teachers
I checked to see where the term "hee haw" came from. It existed by 1815 to mean the sound a donkey makes, and from 1843 it has meant "a loud laugh".
I don't precisely remember it being used for a loud laugh, but most definitely the sound that a donkey makes.
Also a zebra
Buck Owens was only on the show for this week. He didn't get the game and he just seems out of place.
I don't know how often Gloria DeHaven was on the show, but she lived until she was 91.
This was Gloria's and Buck's only appearance on MG.. ;0)
Buck Owens is like "who are these people and what are they talking about??? "
But to be fair, can you imagine Brett on HeeHaw?
Very true! She would fit in the same on Hee Haw, as Buck Owens did on Match Game.
She would have been a better fit for Laugh-In.
That is true. I think Buck Owens Felt out of place doing the Match Game but the Country Music stars that were in the CBS version of Match Game, Buck Owens, Minnie Pearl, Mel Tillis, and Bill Anderson are all in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Richard Dawson deserved to get his own show.
Wasn't he on Family Feud at the time or was that later?
@@josephgrimshaw1199 A year later...1976
Yes he does. I'm glad he eventually did. I love him. He's such a sweetheart and you can tell he cares about the contestants.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
What I have been saying and glad he did twice!!!
Poor Buck didn't know what he was doing with these Hollywood jokesters
Kelly Konoske that’s cause he was an ass.
@@southpark1029384756 how so?
I think he played silly.
Buck is ok
The blonde contestant reminded me of Joyce Boulifant
RIP Buck Owens.
Gene must have been a Katherine Hepburn fan, quoting a line from STAGE DOOR. How many people there actually knew what movie that was from? (Calla lilies are in bloom again.)
On this date in 1976, The Belle Of Amherst with Charles Nelson Reilly as the director of the play opened.
Brett drunk agn -singin.
Embarrassing
Country humor is somewhat different than Hollywood humor, so Buck is charmingly out of his element there, but cute. I never missed an episode of Hee Haw. The jokes on it were clean, and much of the humor on this game could be deemed as 'dirty' insinuations, although funny. Buck's humor is more of the 'down home' kind. Heck, some of the contestants have answers that are way off from what the stars choose. There is no wrong or right answer, they just have to match the player's answer. And that contestant kinda looked like Rona Barrett. Buck had a country boy personna that was sweet and charming. I always thought he was cute, even while I was in my teens.
I never saw Buck Owens before watching this today. He reminds me of Fred Armisen from Saturday Night Live...like a character Fred might play.
Hmm. I guess that depends on your definition of "clean". Hee Haw was definitely not above humor about busty girls and leering men.
@@dmnemaine since you mention leering men, I just watched MGPM episode 139. Patty Duke snaps at Gene at 11:43. Not for leering at her, but for rushing her. I've never seen anyone talk to him that way before. She looked really pissed.
And the countdown of Charles to return has begun. Counting the rest of this week there are just 13 shows left with Gary filling in. These theee shows this week and the next two weeks. But there is a bit of irony in this. Because even though Charles will be bask, we will not have seen the last of Gary. He will be in the first seat the first week Charles is bsck. Oh the humanity.
How many is "theee"? You have awful trouble with the word "back", don't you?
@@mosseisleyYT You have awful trouble sticking to the subject at-hand and not dwelling on unimportant minutia, don't you?
@@mosseisleyYT 🐯
I was wondering if Gary ever came back after CNR's return,
@@pencils812 I didn't like Gary at first but I've warmed up to him. I like him now 😄 I wonder of he keeps coming back? 🤔
I matched Gary. I said you would get a free killing of your choice
"What exactly is a nug?" I think that Gary may have been referring to an episode of M*A*S*H in which the word "gun" was likewise misread. Colonel Blake requested an "0-4-W-W nug", reading from a paper that Frank Burns was holding upside down (so actually a 40mm gun). This was to be used to shoot down Five O'Clock Charlie. Hawkeye's response is "We definitely do _not_ need a nug!"
For sure. I remember that M*A*S*H* episode
Are you SEIOUS right now??!!!! he said "Nug" because Buck had his sign upside down and it spelled "Nug" WOW!
@@kristabrewer6736Everything isn't a crisis. Relax, take a breath, try to have some fun.

Buck's a great actor.
He reminds me of a character Fred Armisen might play.
Buck is ok
I think Roy Clark would have been a better Hee Haw choice, personality wise. He always seemed to be smiling.
Yes, I agree and also a bit smarter as well
Buck.....really? Did you have to spoil the Brett "Born Blank" question?
My answer would have been "Born Drunk"
@@josephgrimshaw1199 That was my first thought too. Everyone was really honing in the the wigs.
Yea, like he did it on purpose🙄
@@josephgrimshaw1199 That was my answer too
Buck was so uncomfortable!
The awful crime of this episode is that contestant Sandy covers up too much. She is so beautiful, radiant face, full breasts ... I guess covering her girls kept Gene from embarrassing her and maybe she was self conscious anyway. We do miss Charles here but Gary does his best. Brett shouldn't have made fun of Buck's accent, which he becomes annoyed about later in this week. I think people knew him from Hee Haw at the time, not as a great singer/musician/songwriter.
Gary still on ooohhh nnnnnoooooo ENOUGH of him already 👎👎👎👎
He's just trying to show there's more to him than what we saw on "M*A*S*H" when he was playing Radar.
He had connexions to be on the show.
Lawd knows it wasn't charisma, nor talent.
I SO agree Kathy B!
I watched one the other day where he was called on in the big money round to fill in Philadelphia ..............he laughed & said he had no answer, totally disinterested. I was so annoyed.
This was Buck's only week on the show and for good reason. He didn't seem to quite understand the game.
I love Patti. She is hilarious.
I wander for your humor. She is out in all answers.
I like her, but I can't BELIEVE they made her brainless! She was so GOOD in her first few weeks on the show; matched SEVERAL times (I guess they didn't like that).
It was a realistic game show for people to win money, but nobody cared about that. All they cared about was getting laughs :(

Bruce Lee, Brett. Christopher Lee was an English actor who was most known at that time for playing Dracula. In his later career he would be best known for playing Saruman in The Lord Of The Rings. Also, Bruce Lee was Chinese, not Japanese.
Bruce Lee was American. He was born in America.

What are Fee Plugs (from the title)?
I think it's from the first contestant coz she was plugging her school or job. Something like that.

Public School graduates: "Christopher who?"
Was Buck drunk or high on something?
Born drunk and annoying
Sorry, Richard, we're talking the difference between life and death here.
Buck Owens was an ass he was totally disinterested in the game and frankly, he just didn't want to be there.
Because he's got a tiger by the tail, can't you see?
Why does Richard always make Guam references on certain episodes? I thought Newberry's was a bit annoying, but Guam is the second annoying reference.
Christopher Lee brittish actor and not some japanese carate person
Who did Gene think he was, passing judgment on "how pretty" that contestant's wife in the audience was? "Lots of people say their husband or wife is great but she's really pretty." UGH
Buck the genius. 🙄
