Common Questions Answered:
1. The fabric is actually white on the back side. I did not add interfacing or anything.
2. The seam guide comes with the machine. It is not available for separate purchase.

My baby lock serger sales the guide separate
Exactly what i just did and thought 🙂
@@robinwoodard7898 Mine came on the machine. We are talking about the seam guide?
Subscribed! You're awesome 😀
This is the right way to do an instructional video. Clear, well explained, consistent terminology.
Oh my goodness! Thank you too much, Ethel!!!
Anita, you have the most soothing and clear voice when you are instructing. I wish all American ladies had that quality. I normally have to turn off the sound and use subtitles when the lady's voice is harsh and whiny!!! Thanks for your clear precise instructions, it is very much appreciated. Sue from England.
Oh my goodness, Sue! Thank you for the compliment.
Fully agree!
@AnitabyDesign and the annoying music sine use. and saying everything they didn't do or how to do something else rather then just getting to it like she does.
This is how ALL UA-cam videos should be done! Awesome!
Wow! Thank you so much.
I own a Juki MO 1000. This tutorial is a game changer. Thank you for a great tutorial, no annoying music, no unnecessary graphics, just your lovely voice and concise instructions.
You're welcome! So glad you found this helpful.
I LOVE your style of teaching. You talk your viewers through EVERY step of the way. No wasted time with dumb music fill ins and fast forwarding the video. Even when you are actually serging on the machine, you talk your viewers through it all. Thank you Anita, for being SO CONSIDERATE and THOUGHTFUL with teaching everyone as if we were your family member! You really maximize your teachings. I love you so much for this! Wished that I can hug you! You were gifted to teach....I feel that this was your calling in life. We are such beneficiaries of your gift. Thank you so much for your time to always teach us.
Oh, how you have blessed my heart with this message. I'm so glad to hear that you enjoy my teaching style. Thank you for your appreciation. I embrace every word.
I found this video when I was looking for a way to resize some of my t-shirts that I loved but couldn’t wear because they were too big. I bought the pattern you used, cut the t-shirts apart & made them all totally on my serger! I’ve never had a t-shirt fit me so well. THANK YOU!!! You’re a great teacher!
Yeeesss!!! Congratulations on your t-shirts. I'm so glad it worked out for you. This makes my heart happy.
That is such a smart idea-thank you for sharing!
I just subscribed to you. Your instructions are so concise and clear. Your audio is well balanced, and I like that you don't have annoying music playing. Thank you for quality tutorials!
Yes! Music in the background of tutorials makes it hard to hear the instruction.
I agree! The music can be distracting
Agree 100%
@@jessr3777 agree! I have a brain disorder and I cannot listen to music and follow words together. So it cuts out so many videos for me!
Agreed! ❤️
Your skill as a trainer/teacher is outstanding! Seriously, I cannot even imagine an improvement to this video. Thank you for an incredible tutorial.
Wow, thank you! That is a really encouraging comment. I appreciate your feedback.
This is by far one of THE BEST TUTORIALS I have ever watched. It is SIMPLE, CLEAR, COMPLETE with great explanations for "WHY?", which is so helpful to those of us who need to know, in order to clearly understand. The length of the video is perfect and doesn't contain lots of EXTRA talk, information that can sometimes confuse a newbie to the serger. I will watch EVERY sewing tutorial you make, now! Thank you for explaining the process so clearly with great imagery to show how things work and should look. FANTASTIC TUTORIAL!! Thank you so very much!
OMGoodness, Kym! Thank you so much for such wonderful feedback. I'm so glad you enjoyed the tutorial.
This is the most stressfree tutorial I have ever watches. So simple, so calm and great tone of voice. Thank you Anita.
OMGoodness, Marilyn! Thank you so much for that very helpful feedback. Wow, stress-free. That's saying a lot.
Anita by Design I actually just bought a Baby lock Protege. I can’t wait to use it
Try Tock Custom.
Your making me less scared of my serger. Thank you ever So much. Best tutorial yet. No annoying music. Clear talking. Super!! 😘👍🏼👍🏼
Awesome! I'm so glad you found this to be helpful.
What I appreciated so much about this video was that you used a fabric with a very contrasting color between the Right Side and the Wrong side.
I’m a beginner and have recently taken three 3 sewing classes at my local community college’s continuing education department for a 4 class certification, each a semester long, and none of the teachers would use such a fabric that made it very clear what the Right Side, the Wrong Side, the Back, and the Front were as they were demonstrating their sewing when teaching how to make a knit t-shirt, dress shirt, and a pair of dress trousers.
I’m dumbfounded that they didn’t, ‘cause that simple consideration would have made the classes so much easier.
Thank you!
You are very welcome. 💚💚💚
I don't even sew and I enjoyed this video. Fascinating machine, great video.
Thank you very much!
love the tip about gathering the sleeve - will definitely be using that.
Your teaching is clear, precise, and easy to understand. It's obvious that you're passionate about every cut and stitch. Thank you!
Great tutorial as always Anita! Your teaching style is ON POINT
You are such an excellent teacher and communicator. I love your enthusiastic smile and attitude. I'm self taught and somewhat experienced at age 64. I love seeing your ways which are a lot like me, but I'm still picking up new tips. You are clean and sharp and take the time to do all the steps which I need to be more like. Now if I'd just stop watching UA-cam and get to sewing it would be great.🤔🤣
I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos.
Thank you for such a fantastic tutorial, it is exactly the help I required. Your style of teaching and calm, gentle voice makes it so easy and enjoyable to engage with you. I often have to exit a tutorial as the instructor yells or speaks too rapidly and I cannot concentrate. Once again, thank you so very much. ❤
Oh, Jess, you are so very welcome. I'm so glad you enjoyed the tutorial and found it helpful.
Whow!!! What a great video with a lot of useful information. One of the best I have seen.
I'm so glad you found the video to be useful. Thank you for your feedback. I really appreciate it. 💕
Love how detailed you explain things, great education.!!!
Great video, and amazing camera angles. Good audio. Thanks for not having music in the background! :D

Save yourself the threading of a needle by using a thin crochet hook ….. insert it under the threads, put the end thread over the hook and pull it through a far as you wish ….ta da …..easy peasy…… you’re welcome😇. Great video …I have Pfaff serger-overlocker coverstitch combined…… uses two to five threads…..makes life so easy !
Thank you for your tip. Glad you enjoy it. I have the Baby Lock Evolution Serger/Coverstitch combo. It's an awesome machine. I also have the new Baby Lock Euphoria Coverstitch. Now sewing life is AMAZING! No more switching back and forth from serger to coverstitch. I would never go back t a combo machine. I hardly ever used my Evolution as a coverstitch. I'm glad you love yours. Not for me. 😂
Some people say you shouldn't stretch the fabric when you sew the sleeve in , and other people say you should , it's kinda confusing. The sleeve is the only part I have trouble with. But this was one of the clearest explanations i have seen so far , so i'm going to try again.
Great! I like to try things for myself too and see what works for me. There are different ways to insert sleeves.
Hi Anita, good seeing you again. Watch all your tutorials from before. You make it so easy for us. I’m embarrassed to say that I have brand new serger and have not used it. It sits next to my sewing machine at the end of the table. Now that I’ve seen you and your serger, I am going to start to use it. But first I have to see your tutorial on how to. Thank you again and it’s good to see you. Have many great days.
Bethzaida Villanueva Hi Bethzaida. Now is your time. Have fun using your serger.
I love this Serger Lesson! I think most of us have a fair idea of how to assemble and sew a bodice and sleeves,
and neckband.
You my dear, are giving me the confidence to learn to do all these things on a Serger because
you beautifully and clearly show us how, to handle the fabric with this beast! ie Stop right before the hump
and do a little magic. Stretch elastic just that much before sewing. Making sure that hemlines will be flush
with the cutter/guild. A lot of scary stuff.
Whew! You certainly took the fear out of handling this Filly!
Thank you
YES! Thank you so much for letting me know this video was helpful. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
All I can say is WOW. I wonder if I could ever be as skillful as you are ... so clearly shown... thank you for the video.
You're very welcome. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Also... YAY! Loved your spiritual comments! Thankful for u gf!!
Thank you for sharing what a great machine and great instruction.
Ms Anita, I found your tutorial today. I got a surfer for Christmas and I must say thank you so very much!! I knew I wanted to surge my hems for my craft items I plan on selling but with you showing me the complete project done with the surger. Brilliant!! Thank you again!! I am now a devoted follower 😉
Tami
Hi Tami! Congratulations on your new serger. I'm so glad this video was helpful. Have fun sewing your projects.
Loving your videos teaching us how to use and sew on the serger. I was intrigued how to sew the hem as I usually go back and do it on my sewing machine. You hav a lovely calm voice with clear instructions you give your viewers lots of confidence. Going to look for more of yours. Thank you .
The clearest I have ever seen! Amazing! Thank you 👏👏
Thank you so much.
Anita I want to thank you so much for this demo. I have a new serger I’m not very good at sewing, but I bought a pattern with this type of neckline. I couldn’t understand the pattern directions so I copied what you did. It turned out perfect first time no trial runs!!! I’m a new follower to your channel.
Oh my goodness! That is so awesome and I'm really glad it worked for you, Jill. Thank you for subscribing.
I love your teaching style Anita and you make the prettiest clothes. Thank you so much for getting beginner sewers like me excited to get back into sewing.

I bought my serger for my birthday 2020 and have made pants, tees, tops, skirts, dresses and pajama sets for myself and my nieces and curtains as well. I also develop my own patterns so my day clothes are all one of a kind pieces.
That is awesome!
I learn so much from your videos. I just love your teaching style.

HI Anita, I love your video because you're teaching me how to use my serger in different ways. Thank you for the time you take to teach me how to sew and serge. You are a wonderful woman.
Oh, you're so welcome. Thank you for watching.
Thank you so much. I got my pattern in mail today. I have a little Baby lock Vibrant serger and absolutely love, love, love it. I have learned so much from you and all the other nice UA-cam people that make these wonderful videos. I could never have been this far in so little time on my sewing journey without you all. Thank you again.
I'm so glad you have found so much help on UA-cam. I feel the same way when I'm learning something new. UA-cam is my go-to place first to learn.

OMGosh Brandilyn! You just gave me a huge smile. OMGosh! Thank you for that heart warming comment.
I learned several years ago that when you have a serged join and you need to fold in half as you are doing with the neckband.snip half way along and half way through the serged stitch, then fold one part one way and the other half the other way, they then lay flatter.
As always, your videos are a pleasure to watch. Your detail and clarity make everything easy to follow. Thanks so much!
You are so welcome!
I learn so much from watching you. Thank you so much! Weaving the surger tail...who knew!
Awesome Luanna! Thank you so much for watching.

Excellent instructions! Just finished making this T-shirt from the pattern you recommended in a medium weight interlock knit. It fits perfectly and looks professionally made. Sewed all the seams on the serger and used a very narrow zig zag stitch on the hems with my sewing machine. This is my first project on the serger since acquiring it, and the first time making clothing in 30+ years. Now, I'm looking forward to viewing your other sewing videos. Thanks again for the very detailed and precise instructions.
Awesome! Congratulations on sewing your first garment on the serger. That has to be a great feeling, especially when you get a perfect fit. YES! Have fun sewing your next serger project.
This was such an informative and engaging tutorial. You are absolutely the best sewing instructor! I really appreciate the fact that your tutorials are detailed and don't skip steps or important materials. Thank you for sharing your gifts.

Wow! Thanks for that very helpful video. As soon as I have the time to unpack my serger I'm going to make a t-shirt following these instructions. I love your voice, your smile, and your beautiful nails, too!

This is one of the most useful videos i have encountered about how to sew a t-shirt with a serger, i wish i'd found that sooner. Thank you so much for this!! I have watched a few of your videos by now and i love them, especially the way you explain everything so thoroughly. Thank you again for your work :-)
You're very welcome! I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed this video and are appreciating my teaching style. Thank you so much for your feedback. It really blesses my heart.
This I think, is by far the best tutorial I've ever watched. Your instructions are very calm and clear and you make it look so easy. As others have commented, I appreciate that I didn't have to struggle to hear and understand you through a bunch of background music. I have a t-shirt that I started 10 years ago when I bought my serger. I gave up on it but kept it in that "someday I'll finish it" pile. Today I found this tutorial of yours and am kind of excited to try the techniques you taught and actually finish that shirt! Thank you!
Angela, thank you so much for such amazing feedback. I really appreciate it.
Absolutely love your videos, you explain everything, so it’s easy to follow, love the way you inserted the sleeves. Seems so much easier. So thank you anita

Thank you for watching Maria! I'm glad you liked the video.
Your voice is so soothing and encouraging. I found myself thinking, oh this is so fiddly and there's so much to know, I don't think I could do this. But your calm encouragement really boosted my confidence! Definitely made a new subscriber from me!
Thank you so much. It's worth a try, even if you think it's too much. You may end up loving the process and outcome.
I just found you on my TV. You are so positive and refreshing. I love to sew myself. It's wonderful to find someone who has a passion and love's their passion and not afraid to show it. I'm just started watching your t-shirt video. I'm not a big serger fan but I do understand how to use one. And there's no substitute for a serger and stretch fabrics!!
Thank you so much for being here Mr. George.
So happy to see you back Lady A! You've given me confidence to sew myself a cute t-shirt. Thanks Ms. Anita.
Ms DeeDee Yaaay! Have fun sewing your t-shirt Ms DeeDee!🤗

where you ease the extra fabric in I call that divide and conquer....That's what I teach my quilting students. I can't wait to try and make a t-shirt....haven't made a garment in several years. Thank you.
Awesome Diane! LOL! I like that title. You're the second instructor to tell me that you teach that method. Have fun making your t-shirt.
Thank you Ms. Anita for an amazing series!! I can’t wait to try making this T-shirt on my serger. My family will be sick of T-shirts. lol 😂
