Really love how relatable your podcasts are and I sure do get a good laugh when I’m watching u guys but I wanted to say something and I hope u don’t take it an a negative way but you should talk a bit about what’s going on in Palestine even if it’s less then a min like it will add more value and sentiment to ur podcast

You two are fabulous. The people who wrote all the mean comments just ignore them like you guys always say wailayyy they are very wailayy. And nowadays people also has the audacity to hate in person not just on social media.
And about the hate on you being Pakistani Canadian I really feel like you both are just like us there are a lot of things in common
    Lots of love 💕

The crazy part is sometimes the child ends up super happy from their decision. Parents want what’s best, but they don’t always know what’s best.

You guys are amazing! Watching your videos feels like chilling with friends. Although I was born and raised in Pakistan, I've always felt alienated because of certain cultural values. I resonate so much with you guys, it's really comforting

For the people who say you're overacting.. They do not have true friends.. Cuz when you hangout with true friends.. This is how it is.. You laugh, you have fun & you talk about anything n everything..
This is exactly how friends hangout!

I have a theory about why us Desi’s hate on each other.
I feel like it comes from how our parents constantly pit us against either our siblings, relatives or other kids our age growing up in the same proximity. Over time it’s grown into this constant need to one up each other or try to prove that we’re better in every aspect of our lives and if that’s not possible, you tear the each other down. Basically, a trauma response.
I don’t know how to undo it but the best thing we can do is to not pass it down to our children.

54:27 what Parents NEED to do is teach HEALTHY CHOICES ! Affirming and asking your child to clarify why they made such choice. This will allow your child value for your input in their decision making ❤🎉

I'd been getting rude out of line comments that started when I hit puberty (so 11ish) and the comments were usually to my mom. They were usually along the lines "she's getting so chubby control her diet" or "she dresses too out, put her in salwar kameez or long shirts and less jeans." I legit started rebelling and I stopped wearing Desi outfits, I started dressing like a tomboy, and I just started to want to be white and astaghfirullah not Muslim. I eventually came around during 8th grade but I would legit blame myself. The comments never stopped though because I became the opposite and started dressing really really girly, lots of makeup, high heels and everything. Then it was all beta don't wear this wear that, cover up, don't wear short shirts and tight jeans blah blah. No matter what I did I was labeled the bad girl in our family. No one said this stuff to the other girls in my family. It stopped especially when I got married but I saw it pass on to my cousin's daughter. There are so many other girls in the family her age but it's always her. I feel like sometimes in Desi extended families it's like they choose one girl they see as really out and give her taanay for most of her life. I thank God everyday that I finally understood that our religion isn't what these misogynistic aunties are telling us but it's actually so pro female, and we women have rights that they legit won't tell us because it doesn't serve them. Sorry I totally went off on a crazy tangent but I just had to vent after feeling like my childhood and teen years were so hard because of this.

You are right, I agree the overall perspective of the desi community needs to change or atleast refresh. Focus on what is most important the peace and happiness of the individual. Stop paying attention to what others will say. . Let them say. . They don’t matter more than your own self or your children.

For few I am too religious and for few I am too modern thats my struggle with our community.
And in general the one thing that I dislike the most about our community is that nobody wants to be friends with you if you’re not carrying your gucci or lv or ysl things around. I distinctly remember once I meet a friends of friends at the desi grocery stores and she looked me up and down and didn’t talk to me at all, cause I wasn’t carrying brands around that day. On another day the same lady was so friendly to me after looking me carrying Chloe bag. I disgust such people.

I love this podcast and I shared it with my girl friends! I have a topic idea but it might be too specific, but I think mahr and people's opinions on it are really interesting. I've noticed some desis, especially the religious ones are the ones who try to bargain on mahr are so toxic. They'll be the first ones to say you better do this and that for your hubby if you want to be a good Muslim wife but when it comes to what Islam says about women's rights it's crickets. It makes me so angry.

1:05:03 it’s a COLONIAL IDENTITY!!!!! We have to come to terms with our complex Pakistani existence in Canada 🇨🇦!!! We’re effected by the culture preservation movement within our political system. Urdu is also heirachichal in our diaspora so when we decode where your elders-elders came from we might find our ancestors languages…. It’s work we have to do when academically dissecting this complex language dissing we do yo each other.
