This is really impressive to me. I've not played video games since the old cartridge arcade machines and now you can play inside a vintage cartoon. There must've been so much work gone into this and an eye for authenticity. You might expect the economic frame-loop style of old cartoons to work for computer games too, but I bet they're imprecisely looped to give the handmade effect.
I actually believe the assests ARE handdrawn! Cuphead holds the world record for the most individually handdrawn frames in a video game- over 45,000. Literally insane.

I actually made a pretty good synopsis for a musical of this game: In the magical realm of Inkwell Isle, two brothers named Cuphead and Mugman enter the Devil’s Casino against their guardian Elder Kettle’s warning (Double Down). As they go on a hot winning streak at the Craps table, the Devil approaches them with a bet - if they can win the next roll, they will get all the riches in the casino, but if they lose, the Devil keeps their souls. Cuphead rolls the dice and gets Snake Eyes. He and Mugman beg for mercy and the Devil tells them if they can get his debtors’ soul contracts by midnight, he might spare them. The boys run back home to Elder Kettle, who knew this would happen and begins to tell them their truth: they are descendants of an army of cups that managed to banish the Devil to hell with a magic potion (The Calix Animi). Cuphead and Mugman drink the potion and are now able to blast magic bullets from their fingertips. Before they leave, Elder Kettle reminds the boys that when the time comes, they need to do “the right thing”. The boys use their newfound powers to defeat the debtors and get them to give up their soul contracts. However, King Dice, the Devil’s second-in-command, refuses to let them through as there is still one more area they haven’t gotten the soul contracts for (Die House). This game is one of my favorites to play and my sister is in love with it too we love all the bosses and the different endings and everything we also love the show that came out. This game has really gone far since it started 🎉🎉
I don't get how anyone can think this video makes the game look easy, it looks like a friggin difficult game that someone has spent time mastering so people like me can actually see what happens in the game lol

As soon as i bought this game i love it. I start to say that i hate it and this is the worst game when a hard boss comes around, then i win and the happiness keeps me playing. I allways lie about the "i hate this game" part, it just comes out of anger: im looking forward to finishing this, because ive went about 64% into the game, which means theres not very much for me to go now.
Such a beautiful tribute to the classic Merry Melodies cartoons and so perfectly done. Looks super hard though. Some of those levels are so clustered with moving imagery, I'm surprised any player can know where to go without being constantly hit.
This game is so easy now I can beat it in under a hour and a half. But boy! I remember being stuck on the root pack for so long, how far I've come lol😂
