My dad introduced me to Prine. He’s the only other songwriter I can even compare at all to Prine.. and oddly enough Prines manager only managed one other songwriter I believe.. my Dad.
Am fortunate enough to have seen him 'live' 3 times. Near the beginning of his career at The Whiskey, somewhere in the middle at The Greek and again just a year or so before his passing again at The Greek. How fortunate we were to have him for all those years and all the great music he wrote. You are immortal now, John. Thanx!
When i get to heaven. I'm gonna take that wrists watch off my arm. What are you gonna do with time after you bought the farm? No better song lyrics have ever been written.
So grateful, I got to see him do this in person, the one and only time, I got to see him in concert. Had no idea that concert, during his last tour, would be my last chance. And months after Covid took him from us, this clip still moves me to tears. I just hope he knew, how many many lives he touched and how much comfort his songs STILL bring to so many of us!!
@@cathigill I don't know what city this clip takes place in. But I'm pretty sure it was one of the concerts during his last tour, which was titled "Tree of Forgiveness", for the album he had just released. From what I've been told he did this dancing off the stage thing at each concert of that tour. When I saw him, it was in Kansas City, MO, I believe in November of 2020. Seeing him in person was amazing!
I'm 43 years old and have never been touched by a song or artist so much. Didn't truly discover john prine until Covid, wen he died. But his song Sam Stone helped me thru a time in my life ill never forget. Mr Prine is singing with the angels now for sure
I miss this man dearly, feel like I've known him all my life. We should all strive to be more like this man. So humble and selfless. R.i.p Mr. Prine. Grateful to have lived on the planet at the same time as this man.
I loved his music and spirit the first time I saw him in Vail, Colorado in the late 70’s. Godspeed John. If you don’t have his last album, it’s Awesome, but then, of course it is!!!!
I just heard of John’s passing from Covid-19 complications, so finding and watching this clip has brought reminiscent tears to my eyes. His unique, one-of-a-kind music, often reflecting that ‘twinkle-in-his-eyes and sly grin no matter what’ approach to life was not only an important part of my 20’s but a truly inspirational gift to music genres everywhere. This video, evidently recorded earlier this year, shows how much life he still had to live, which makes his passing an even greater tragedy. Namaste John, thank you for your service to humanity and the light you brought to this world. You will be missed. 🙏 😢✨💓
Whenever John Prine was singing one of his funny ballads from one of many records he had, us kids , 6 in all, would sit on the floor laughing and giggling at some of those lyrics. We were insanely in love with John Prine for the rest of our lives. 💘
Original, legendary kind soul! I miss him so much. Cherished every show I saw of him because I knew I was in the presence of a great human being. Cheers to you Mr. John Prine
Having a John Prine night here, watching old videos and so sad he passed. Seeing him dance here in his final year warms my soul. Love you John, and we’ll never forget you❤❤❤
Makes me cry every time. What a legend... What an exit from this earth. I took the same footage that night only I was balcony left from John's view. A night I will not soon forget.
Jane....im here in ireland...watching this wonderful wonderful clip....we all loved john....and this clip is a smile to remember forever... Thanks to you..so much for sharing this.....👍👍👍👍👍🌻✌️ Matt
Saw him in Cincinnati for this tour and the unexpected dance lit the place on FIRE. On a knee he just got replaced. Memorial Hall. John is my hero. ❤ May you be smokin a cigarette nine miles long, old friend.
And that, folks, is how a happy man lives and ends his life. Dancing from one life to the other. We all miss John, and we are better people for having known him and his music.
The guy screaming in ecstasy got me. "What a freak!" Indeed, for all of us. Hunter Thompson said to Bill Murray about depression, "you're gonna have to rely on John Prine for his sense of humor".
Now he belongs to the ages, and the Angels. 👼 Somewhere 'round Montgomery.. 🤠 His last dance an "Ode to Joy", we are all blessed to have his music that he has left for us to enjoy. His final composition and performance so poignant, as he reflected on his life in what would be his final months. "I Remember Everything. 🦋🌹" 💙 Rest in Peace.
This makes my heart burst equally with joy and sadness at the same time. Who knew a shimmy could so poignantly exemplify life and the human condition? Rest in power Johnny, you are missed and you are loved.
The legend who left a golden legacy and memories for us all to cherish. Just look at him here, full of fun and childish grooves. He was taken far far too early, but he left us multitudes of memories. You just gotta smile. 😊😊😊🙏🙏
This dance has turned out to be his requiem of joy to us.
Yes it has!
I'm 68 y.o. and my daddy made John Prine a part of my life. I love this clip !
Funny I'm 42 and turned my parents on to john prine in their 60s

A true showman. You can tell he loved every minute of performing.
He was so full of life! It's hard to believe he's gone. I know he's smiling down on us all and in our hearts forever.
Yep…and still telling us your flag decal want get you to heaven anymore..
So sad he had to leave us.. Just the best... Class act of a man.. unbelievable raw talent.. His music never gets old.. RIP friend..my heart is heavy
I love JOHN PRINE. I was too young to see him for myself. Thankfully my mom had great taste in music 🎶.
