    2015 GMC 3500 DRW Crew Cab, 65K miles. Vibration started a while after new Michelins was installed. Tried another set of new Michelin; no change. Replaced driveshaft; no change. Replaced transmission fluid and filter; no change. Replaced shocks with Bilstein; no change. Installed Bilstein steering dampener; no change. Installed new front rotors and calipers; no change. @@AnthonyJ350 it could very well be, but it could also be the frame. This is a known problem with 2014-19 models, and I think I've done enough. Time to replace while it is still tolerable to drive it. There is zero difference operating it in 2WD or 4WD, so my next step would have been all new front suspension and steering replaced. Thanks for posting your video, this must have a severe impact on GM's future, I, for one, will never look at a GM product again, and I've had them since 1982.

    2015 2500HD (currently @138k miles) started the shake after I replaced the first set of tires. I ended up having to find a dealer that had a Road Force balancer and had them put the same OEM LTX Michelins back on and get them to get tires that would RF balance under 10lb. I then ended up after that set (@110k) I decided to upgrade to to a set of Toyo's.. The vibration was so bad and after about swapping 13 different tires to get them within RF balance range they still vibrated. We took a vacation to TN (from NJ) pulling a 13k lb fifth wheel, the vibration was so bad that it would vibrate everything in the truck (felt like a very bad driveshaft shaft U joint) so I ended up taking the truck back to the shop that installed them and had them buy back the tires.
    I ended up going back to LTX Michelins and getting the RF balance @8 lbs on all four tires and the vibration is once again gone.. I have yet to trailer the fifth wheel long distance so I'm not sure if that is also resolved.

    2015 silverado 3500 (6L Gas 4WD) had transmission go then GM rebuilt it and there is now a shake. It has quite a bit of load on it at times, but not over what it's rated for. However, it only happens at certain speeds and mainly in 3rd gear and most frequently when going up hill however it happens on flat and downhill sections. I have only experienced it in RWD if that means anything. It comes and goes even not rearing its ugly head for long periods of time, but it has come back. Most of the time it feels like hitting a series of moderate bumps in the road, but now a more vibrating shake has come where you can sort of hear it too and that feels like going over rumble strips. It's been just about a year after the tranny has been rebuilt and this has been happening ever since and Chevy even looked at it again saying that nothing was wrong with their workmanship but it persisted soon after that.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  2 роки тому +1

      Have you tried changing the transmission fluid? There's suppose to be updated fluid in a TSB. Look at the TSB in the title.

    • @JakeLikesTech
      @JakeLikesTech 2 роки тому

      @@AnthonyJ350 when it was taken back to Chevy for it they flushed the fluid and reset the TCM so it would relearn. Those are the two actual service bulletins on that trans. However the bulletins about the 8L90 trans found in the 1500s has identical issues to what my 6L90 is experiencing, yet it isn't listed in the bulletin nor does it have it's own. And that bulletin says that if it's experiencing what it is to replace fluid and the torque converter which is odd because it happened within a month after that torque converter was replaced. That's why I believe it's just another bad torque converter that this Chevy dealership says is fine. That dealership btw is like always getting attacked because of bad customer support so it makes sense that they would've charged us to say everything is fine when it's clearly not.

      @JakeLikesTech 2 роки тому

      @@AnthonyJ350 we have talked with a shop and they said they could try to reset the TCM or change the fluid again which are both things that Chevy did. I just completely useless to focus on things that have already changed, in my view it's the torque converter they replaced the busted one with was garbage out of the box. It's a real shame cause this is a work truck and can't afford to be in a shop or anything any more so it's likely going to be traded in soon anyway. If it wasn't a truck in such a situation I would definitely be working on trying to solve the issue, but it also angers me that this dealership charged 300 to say it's fine when there was clearly still Chevy shake present. I understand that it's a gray area because it's not named under that specific TSB but it's very obvious that there is an issue that it's wrong they didn't try and fix the issue when it started so soon after they replaced it let alone charging us to tell us that.

    This is happening to me on a 1998 Chevy 1500 and it can happen as speed as low as 10 miles an hour. If I hit even a tiny bump, it triggers the whole truck to violently shake. Sometimes I can drive out of it by speeding up to about 60 miles an hour and it’ll level out or I have to come to a complete stop.

    i figured mine out first try, SOmething not listed anywhere i ever see is the rear control arm bushings on mine were allowing the pinion angle to move in the rear when you hit a higher speed it would twist the axle more and make the joint get out of phase with the front one causing driveshaft to speed up n slow down every quarter rotation...

    I had this same issue and if I could offer a piece of advice it would be to not throw money at parts without first diagnosing because this issue has many causes which are inexpensive fixes.I tried on two sets of wheels, had the tires rebalanced, stock driveshaft rebalanced, reshimmed the rear axle angle, and had the axles checked for out of roundness with a gauge.Mine was a RCSB on factory 20" and the silver bullet was softer rear shocks.Take the time to have someone check everything in the drive line and you will find the cause.

I’ve done everything that has been recommended - custom built driveshaft Bilstein shocks with the remote reservoirs all the way around, even have centramatic balancers all the way around. Been through 3 sets of rims and tires. Flushed all the fluids, rear ended and transmission. Nothing has worked at all!!! Trucks paid off, hard to let it go but I can’t do this anymore. I can’t find anyone to help GM just blames it on tires…. All I have done has been a result of my researching and trying to fix it on my own. I see with no change but wasted money. @@AnthonyJ350 probably did a burn out as soon as they left the dealer. I did not exactly baby my truck but I never drove at the same speeds. I would drive between 55 -70 MPH. She has 24,000 miles and I've yet to floor it from a stand still and I have the 6.2 so I guess I'm pretty reserved.

      @@leer125 yes!!! But mine is fixed now.😃😃😃 bought new tires and and watched tire shop boy road force balance all 4 tires. They all have to be under 15 on the road force or forget it!!! At tire shops they teach that 25 is ok... but it is not for our trucks.

    2016 2500 6.0 6L90. Console and seat shake like crazy 60-80 mph. 3 new transmissions, 2 sets of tires, 4 rebalances and rotates. I'm gonna mount a gopro under the truck and see if I can get an indication of shaft shake. My fear is the camera will be doing all of the shaking and it'll get me nowhere. Frustrating. Beyond frustrating. I'd be done with GM, but what's my alternative? Ford 10 spd shakes, blown turbos, or 5.0 timing issues? Dodge lifter or manifold issues? If you look up Dodge in the dictionary, it says "to avoid, stay away".... Am i really gonna have to consider Toyota? I work way too hard and spend way too much money on this garbage.

      It could if the driveshaft isn't "true" and the shop finds it needs balancing.

      I have taken my driveshaft off and coasted down a mountain road up to 80 mph. I still had shake. That eliminated the transmission and drive shaft from the equation. It did seem a little less which makes me think it is definitely in the rear end. GM already replaced my rear end and rear springs and shocks. So now I don't know 🤔

    Could be any of multiple reasons? I’ll take door # 3 ? #2 ? Lousy computer generated drive train ? Effort to save costs and weight led to a mentality of “ What’s the least we can use to get by”. ? Over engineered ? Overly dependent on customers “ teaching” the program how to work properly ? People who spend 40 - 70 thousand for a vehicle have a REASONABLE EXPECTATION OF THE DAMN THING WORKING CORRECTLY ? I guess GM IS GOING BACK TO THE OLD DAYS OF MAKING BETTER COMMERCIALS INSTEAD OF BETTER VEHICLES ? Let the Buyer Beware ! 😪

      It does suck, however every manufacturer does this. It's just which problems are you willing to deal with. I think gone are the days someone can retire and buy "their last truck" and expect it to last 20 years.
