Just an FYI, software deleting the AFM/DFM does NOT solve the lifter issues. They still can and do fail with AFM/DFM disabled by software. I am one of many people that have experienced lifter failure with it software disabled. The ONLY way to get rid of it is a full delete kit with a new cam, lifters, and a vlom block off plate in addition to software. ,
They still can fail because you of course still have all of the AFM-equipped hardware in the car, like the special AFM lifters that are inherently problematic. But disabling it via software does still significantly reduce the likelihood of it happening, just doesn't completely prevent problems. But yes, only way to get complete protection is to do a full delete but I would recommend doing that only if you actually have a failed lifter first, otherwise the cost is tougher to justify.
If there's any lawyers out there watching videos relating to the poor design of the GMC engines and transmission there needs to be a class action law suit against GMC for knowingly setting up consumers to fail. I had to replace both my engine and transmission after 112,000 miles which is just over the warranty mileage and a few months after my extended warranty expired. The DOD/DFM/AFM and the transmission temperature sensor have been known failure issues since their inception. I've been a loyal American made car owner for over 47 years and will never own another one. Toyota Tundra here I come. So I have been curious about these. I just got my 2022.5 Silverado 1500 with a 2.7 back from the dealer this past week after having it being gone for 2 weeks. I had a camshaft and lifter failure at 50,000 miles. @8020Media I've been doing it for quite while and the only part that took some getting used to was when shifting from forward to reverse. It's 3 clicks instead of 2 and it really only took a few days to retrain my muscle memory and now I do it without thinking about it. But if a seized lifter is less of a hassle for you, keep using that DOD. Oh and the only time your tranny will drop it into 8th is when you're doing highway speeds, and really how often is that?
@8020Media yes there are. One is a free hack, one is a relatively inexpensive obd2 plug n play that you need to set EVERY time you turn the vehicle on and won'tprotect your engine (the only reason people are looking to do the DOD delete), and the other is a complete overhaul of the top end at a price so high that if gm isn't footing the bill then only a gullible individual would go with it. Seems like a pretty clear choice (unless you're selling option # 2) 😉
S - You don't need to set it EVERY time you turn the vehicle on? You leave it plugged in because it has the lowest battery draw on the market.. If you are leaving your vehicle sat for more than 2 weeks, then sure, not a bad idea to remove the device. Again, to each their own. Everything is a band-aid when it comes to this system.

T - Not that we have heard of, but our device is compatible.
Place shifter in to L. Manually chose 5 for 6 speeds 7 for 8 speeds 9 for 10 speeds. This will not allow the dfm to engage. Cost = $0
S - Yes, but you have to do this every time you get in your vehicle. Surely it can get quite annoying and doesn't give you the full 8-speed when put in 7.
S - To each their own! There's many fixes to this problem.
If u want something to work on buy a Chevy if u want a truck to run strong buy a dodge
N - Nowadays, neither are the greatest unfortunately..
Or just buy the new 2500 with 6.6 gas it has no DFM
M - Definitely an option if you can afford it.
What a POS system GM came up with. Had collapsed lifter on cylinder 4. $1500 to fix. Just over 1400 miles later, cylinder 7 collapsed. Decided to DIY this one. What a pain. Found this video and ordered.
R - Sorry to hear! We hope our device helps! They certainly don't make these vehicles like they used to..
So dont buy a 5.3 if you don't wanna poor money into it to make it last a long time
C - Most of the time.. But we have seen them be powerhouses, especially deleted.
Once again us 10 speed guys get fucked.
S - Unfortunately.. But we are looking into this.
Everyone is being served a huge shit sandwich. Maybe it is best to wait and see if Trump deregulates the auto industry.
Buy other brands. Looks like GM is a waste of time!
L - They certainly don't make them like they used to.
Just buy a toyota. Done big 3 forgot how to make stuff last beyond warranty.
G - You may be onto something lol
Way to invloved
J - What?
Will this work on a 2023 Silverado 1500 6.2L V8 ZR2 Bison Edition? VIN 3GCUDHEL6PG301868
R - Unfortunately, our device won't work on 2023+ models. We are working on a solution and will have updates on our website.
Will it work on a 2020 Silverado 5.3 8 speed
R - Yes, our device should be compatible.
Will this work on 2023 gmc 5.3?
W - Unfortunately, our device is not compatible with newer models yet. However, this is something we're working on.
