He sure did he took something that was going to be crushed and it's a survivor this car if taken care of will be around many more years. I've seen show car's that were built in the 70s end up getting pushed in the back yard and sitting for 40 year's and falling apart. From time. A chopped 1956 Chevy Belair that once was. 19 40's Ford coupe chopped sitting in a barn I asked they guy if he wanted to sale it. It was a show car at one time but mice and time got to it. He didn't want to sell it I know he's to old to get it back together and enjoy it. I told him I would get it back on the road and enjoy it. He still didn't want to sell it, so I bought a 1947 Chevy coupe stylemaster instead body looks stock everything else has been changed.
It is art and great paint from a master. Uncle Will
he really nailed it, that's a gorgeous car
@@ismaelestevez3652 huh?
What a smart, determined, humble young man! I'm very impressed.
It looks like something in a comic book. Absolutely beautiful.
read my mind ... even more, describe what i was looking for to say !!!! like a rogers rabit thing !! pretty amazing work !
I'd hire guards to guard this car, then guards to guard the guards!!!. That car is beautiful. Love that blue!!!.
If it was all black it would be a perfect cartoon baddies car
It would be at home in Roger Rabbit movie!
this should win first place at any show given the fact that it wasn't a shop or a team of guys that built it, but ONE guy and his determination, I mean it really is incredible.
It's fun to watch Jay get super excited about a fantastic car restoration. Love that he invites other enthusiasts, and not just the famous guys, to showcase their work.
P
Keith seems like a low-key, modest guy who has done some great work with this car, so congrats to Keith!
He's a calm, confident, 'as a matter of fact' kinda guy.
He said people are staring because Jay Leno is driving! Humble guy, with a car that I can't look away from!
Jay complemented this guy more than anyone that's ever been on his show.
Noticed that. Then I considered and decided it was well worth it. The kid literally did what the old hot-rodders did like he's a reincarnation.
Deserved every single praise he got. Mindblowing beauty that car is.
I think he kinda deserved it the car is utterly amazing and he is so cool about it.
@@GB3770 Absolutely. It really is amazing.
Well who wouldn't knowing about cars and what this gent took on. Both get it
Absolutely amazing and beautiful. I have built custom cars and motorcycles. I am amazed at this build. This guy is extremely talented, amazing skills at such a young age. That car is grace rolling down the road, beautiful...
When the car is sitting there on the floor in Jay's shop, tell me it doesn't look like an artists rendering in its perfect lines, color, the shape, it almost doesn't look real.
i thought the exactly same nice that there are are others who thought this
I'm in awe. Thanks Jay for giving that young man honor, well deserved.
Yup well deserved - good on JL!!
He is so young and brilliant. It's scary to know when he gets older ,how much more genius will be realized. Jay Leno should hire him on the spot.
That's a profound observation.
The guy already owns his own company so i doubt he's for hire.
@@marvindebot3264 true but without a doubt Jay should buy some of whatever he is selling.
Yup !
Wow, great job. The young man is a miracle worker, I'm over 60 years old and I've seen the 51 way back in the day but never would have thought it could look so good. My hat is off to the young builder, I look forward to seeing more of his work.
The car looks like a drawing that rolls.
John Smith bondage
totally looks like an illustration
I was just thinking it looks like a card board cut out
Looks like it just rolled out of toonville
wow this guy is super talented. congratulations!
Gary Garcia and quite humble and understated. And very talented and dedicated.
Wow, just wow! First that guy for building that car from the ground up. Then Jay Leno for being such a good dude and can appreciate a real work of art. I met him before when the Buccaneers won the super bowl, hes so down to earth and nice as can be!
This young man is on another level already !
Probably one of the koolest Custom Jobs I've ever seen. This Keith Charvonia is one talented Body Specialist. Having sold Automotive Paint and Body Shop Supplies at one time and knowing what it took to create this kool one off custom Kaiser I Itake my hat off to your amazing skill, I think Barris,Foos, and other Customizers would agree also !
Thanks!
Keith Charvonia That is a stunner of a car!!
Cool*
Where can I find scrap cars to work on online?
Intel Core i7 4710HQ GeForce GTX860M 4GB GDDR5
Gene Winfield is one amazing nice guy,and he helped this talented kid, because that's what real Hot Rod guy's do.
@Sarbur Gideg no amount of money could have paid for the wisdom the man earned from just being around him....
yes. also he made it all himself. he had a dream and followed it to the end.
think that was the biggest trigger.
The Kaiser Manhattan is one of my most favorite car designs. I'd love to see a stock restored one. They're unique & beautiful, with their widows peak {which he called heart shaped} on every window & along the lines. Gorgeous.
🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Thank you, Jay, for highlighting Keith's masterpiece and letting him tell his incredible story. I'm glad he persevered over 8 long years.
Jay at his very best ! Gracious mentor of young enthusiasts.
Any ideas how Jay Leno made his money?
Lanre Oladejo gee i have no idea
Lanre Oladejo I heard something about a late night gig...
@@1anre Won the Mega ball.😁
perfect host
Amazing skill from such a young guy, appreciate his honesty and humble demeanor
He nailed this car, And a learn as you go project, mad respect ✊
Watching it all these years later and still such a beautiful beautiful project. Hard to believe its the first time he did it, and that paint job... Amazing.
Rolling work of art. Imagine what this guy will be doing over the years as he gets even better!
He'll be the next Jesse James.
I wonder if he'll ever do this again.
he should teach those major car companies how to design cars.
Keith here might become a legend who knows
@@jonathanl9663
hmmmm...
So what your saying is, if he has an idea. He needs to post it up on the internet, and you junkyard hoarders go find it and send it to him for free. Make sure you call him master too.
So that we can see some fine fabrication. The last time I saw someone with his talent, was my grandfather. When he passed away, it seemed as if fabricators started to become more rare, every day.
one of the best episodes. prefer the real car guys to the checkbook guys.
Of course your the exception Jay, keep writing those checks.
@@33tpa haha
100% Someone who designs a car and makes it vs a banker spending his bonus - er no competition.
Travis, I TOTALLY Agree!! I did my share of wrenching and sanding and spraying on my own cars back in my high-school days, when boys were boys, knew a wrench from a cell-phone and weren't afraid to get their hands dirty. BUT!! At my age, I'm too old to train to be a mechanic, so if I won the lottery, I'd HAPPILY join the checkbook guy group and count my blessings!
@@33tpa Jay does a lot of the work on his cars.
Huge fan, watched a ton of these, I love the fact that Jay's interest in cars is purely about the car, not money or status, just loves the art and form, but I saw his smile ear to ear when he was driving it, he looked like a kid on Christmas day with a new toy, I know Jay has class but he probably had a tough time not to offer to buy it off this man with amazing design and mechanical talents.
One of the coolest cars to be seen on JLG! Absolutely love it, the guy that built it is a bit of a hero!
I loooove it. Mega props. The paint job is a trip. From a distance it looks like a painting, not like a physical car. Crazy.
Amazin
the first car he ever did like this and he did everything except the paint? Jesus, I think I could call this guy a genius. incredible. really great work. I love it.
Just think what this did for this guy’s resume:
“So what else have you done?”
“Ever seen Jay Leno’s Garage?”
Among the 1951-55 Kaisers, the club coup was the best looking. And Keith did an outstanding job creating this look and more from what started out as a 4 door sedan.
The original car was designed by Howard "Dutch" Darrin. The widow's peak windshield, was supposed to evoke an aircraft windshield.
Keith is talented, hard-working and humble. I wish him all of the best.
it must feel awesome having someone like jay look at your car and drive it and say all those amazing things about your hard work..
Every now and then I marathon watch episodes of JLG over an entire weekend. I don’t think that I can ever run out of episodes. That’s the best thing about getting into a UA-cam channel years after it began.
Amazing car, details, painting...very well done. This guy is an artist!!!
That is one fantastic rolling piece of art!
Like many here I am very impressed how this humble guy next door can built a masterpiece like this is on his own, at home, in 8 years time. Thanks Keith and thanks for showing us, Jay!
I can not summon the words to describe this piece of art, other than absolutely beautiful. The paint job is to die for.
Keith is a great young man obviously an incredibly talented & highly intelligent guy. Thank you Jay for being so generous with your time and being so supportive to Keith.
Wow.
The technical skills and artistry displayed in this car is really a perfect epitomized example of the auto-craft's entire essence. Something about the humility of the creator, and the scope of the entire project gives this all an amazing impact.
The car is gorgeous. The project is incredible.
This is automotive love at its finest.
Most art pieces are the perfect epitome of all arts and passions
I love this car and the story behind the build. Keith Charvonia did all the work (except the paint) by himself over an eight year period. The lines on this car are amazing, as well as the details. The paint job was done by Gene Winfield, who is a legend. I love color of this car. Thanks Jay for sharing it and of course thank you Keith for sharing your beautiful car with us all.
"Amazing" doesn't come close to describe the work you did on this car. I drove a Henry J for years in my younger days which is
named after Mr. Kaiser. Fantastic job, Keith!
Wooow, what a master designer/builder and what a modest person. Respect
One of the most beautiful cars , I have ever seen!
A credit to you!, never sell it!
She is beautiful!.
Paint work is beautiful!
And your vision and imagination is amazing!
Thanks jay, for bringing this work of art to us!
I'm speechless! Keith's sexy gorgeous Kaiser is simply stunning from every angle and is one of the best radical redesigns I've seen on Jay's Garage to date. It truly represents American ingenuity at its best. Cheers to you Keith Charvonia!
OH MY GOD this was possibly the best episode of Leno's Garage yet! Goosebumps galore!
Easily one of the coolest cars I've seen on the show, kudos!
Jay is genuinely impressed by this kid!
He should be! That's because Jay understands the amount of work and skill it takes to build a car like that.
What an utterly gorgeous ride! If angels drove cars, this would be what they drove.
So true
Everyone watched the ENTIRE video for sure 🚙💨💨💨
Drooling 🤤 with envy
Keiths a genius
Probably my favorite car I've seen on Jay's show.
That's one of the best looking cars I've ever seen....Great job !
This car is essentially a love poem to the automotive industry
Artwork indeed... buddy made the steering wheel himself! Very impressed!!!
I am surprised that this video is over seven years old and I have never seen it. Keith you did a great job! I hope you still have the car and are still enjoying it. I am very happy for you that Jay Leno featured you and your car on his UA-cam channel. Awesome!!
Wow, first attempt and end up with that... sheez
He spent years designing and building it. labor of love
It was an attempt at greatness :)
Joshua Wedge n
very talented young man. only thing I've ever molded into a different shape was a booger.
I tried to do that with a crusty one.. broke it in half. unweldable, total loss. So looks like I am at the very bottom of the customization totem pole.
That was Funny
Rolling boogers is a much more complex task than fabricating a car.
Bwahahahaha!!!
Way too much info T. 😅 Of course you mean 'rolling stock'.
Well done, Keith Charvonia. That car is really sweet with every detail perfect. A work of automotive art to be proud of.
Anupam19781 Exactly. I agree. Car looks so good that it almost looks unreal.
Ive never been too into 50s cars, but this is pure art. love the attention to small details. the front emblem is a personal favorite.
LOL when the paint guy cut a hole in the hood.
"That was umm, something Gene Winfield forced me to do, so I came in one morning and he had cut a hole in the hood annnnd I didn't have much choice"
Wow. That car is gorgeous.
Well done Keith, hope we get to see more of your work.
Jay, thanks for giving that young guy his due and for giving him what may be a big career boost by showing his car! Keith, AMAZING work, you can and should be proud!! You're both great!
Absolutely beautiful car. Amazing craftsmanship. Hat's off to this guy. Wish him much success.
"Something about engines that just calms me down" This guy is a genius
That paint job along with rest of the car, just amazing.
It’s truly amazing how he did that car! The fact that it took him eight years and he stuck with it is another amazing feat in itself. You did a great job on that car. It’s amazing how he kept all the original glass and everything and just made it look lower by putting it under in the front the way he did.
This car is art, beautiful. Thanks for featuring this car, Jay.
Amazing dedication to spend eight years working on a car. and he did a beautiful job. I wonder if he ever sold it. or started on a new one.
This is definatly one of the nicest cars i have seen
Dude. I can’t even make a model car from the hobby shop without losing my temper and smashing it to pieces. this guys car is amazing.
Incredible first time effort. Bravo to this young chap. Great feature Jay. Monster thumbs up!
Wow, that's some talent and patience right there. Hope he gets time and funding for a new project, cuz he nailed this one pretty good.
Very cool car, very cool guy, awesome job! Amazing!
Donn DIY sure is!
Badass paint job!
Yes v good episode - this guy who did the car is wise beyond his years...
the cool guy looks like a junky
The fade is spot on, well done, and in my book, highly desirable, and of course a Gene Winfield masterpiece..I wonder where it is today..
Work of art !
As a skilled body man of 30 plus years. This guy really had his game together for a first try absolutely amazing,!!
I've worked on just about anything , from golf carts to airplanes, to Harley's or race cars.
It would be quite an undertaking to even think of doing something like this in 8 Year's,!!
( Absolutely Killer!!!)
Amazing paint job
Go to Winfield's in Mojave and get one done
I see 251 thumbs down on n this video. Proving once and for all that there are at least 251 idiots in the world.
Cool play on the original name and great use of original components and basic design. You truly are a designer. May I add to the congratulations?
Badass car, the work and thought and adaptation as he went thru the restoration and reworking... Prodigy stuff, watch this guy 🙌 Big ups man, keep it up🤙👍
Just Beautiful. Huge props! I hope he has time to take a more projects!
Amazing detail, awesome build. This boat is made for smooooth sailing. That paintwork! Good job 👍🏻
What a beautiful piece of work. And what an awesome attitude, so humble and modest. Love seeing stuff like this, thanks Jay!
What a fantastic chop. I love that style of ride. Great job.
My first Kaiser. I've never seen one, even if I'm old enough to have seen one. Very beautifly done. A masterpiece of design with beautiful lines. Gorgeous paint. LT-1? Huge 2door... Bet the ride is solid, but you still feel the road..., very nice job!
That is just a beautiful car, the paint really pulls it together.
What a beautiful car, for a young guy he has a gift. Great craftsmanship!!!
I can see from jay's look that he really live that vehicle. And the color is so cool.
What a stunning car! Such talent. Nice, humble, talented young man. One of the more beautiful resto’s I have ever seen.
Absolutely beautiful car, cars nowadays don't even come close to this. I would take something like this over a Ferrari any day!
For a '51 this is a rather modern ponton body, as far as the basis is concerned . I love this kid's way. He is so modest and humble about his incredible work. True class! I'd probably be prancing around like I deserved a Nobel prize. Jay:"So,....can we take it for a ride?" Me:"NO!"
The Young Man is Very Genious....he created one of the Best unique Masterpiece 👌
Probably the best car story ever. Not to mention the amazing workmanship.
Beautiful!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome! I love that retro yet modern look. Great job! Very unique! Art!
The builder did a great job on that CAR & I love it
Jay has a lot of class and you can tell he was genuinely impressed with the car and Keith’s workmanship. The kudos given on his show, I’m sure gave Keith even more of a since of pride than he already had. I wonder if Jay made him an offer for it? Great work It’s a sweet car!
I grew up in the heyday of customs and sleds, had and built a few over the decades, but this, NOW THIS JUST BLEW ME AWAY! Design stance style and topped by the master of fades shade of kewl, my vote for the coolest kustom to come out in decades! this lad has a huge future!
Such a gorgeous vehicle
It's got Karman Ghia on steroids look about it.
Lovely interior, and a kind of apperance that grows on you.
I bet he had quite a few job offers when people saw the kind of work he is capable of.
The rear view gave me a kind of Karmann Ghia vibe, too
+Mark Perry Agreed
Yup one my favorite cars. l only saw one ever. Nobody knows then. At least not the women l know.
Excellent detailing and design skill. Beautiful reinterpretation of the Kaiser. The chrome pieces are very well integrated. Love the T-Bird seats.
Third time watching this and it's still impressive.
