- Is Jurassic World Evolution 2 being abandoned in favor of Planet Zoo? JWE 2 might be in trouble as Frontier is laying off staff. As the company's biggest selling game, the future of Jurassic World Evolution 2 looked bright, but in light of the massive lay-offs and budget cuts, that future now looks uncertain.

It's been brought to my attention by a viewer that some of the information being publicized online about the lay-offs, namely the Video Games quote at 1:25 ("GHLF sources suggest... under 'this plan'."), is potentially incorrect.
The number of lay-offs is currently unknown, so the estimate might be off, we don't know what data this is based on. While the quote phrases the number as a "suggestion", I've done a poor job at emphasizing that. Additionally, based on the viewer's response, I found another source which reports the review will last until early 2024, not Christmas, at which point the redundancies go into effect. These two are a direct contradiction, so neither can be verified with any certainty.
Considering the lay-offs are substantial enough to warrant news-coverage from pretty much every news outlet that covers the gaming industry, I think it's still safe to say there are significant lay-offs occurring at Frontier, which could affect their portfolio. As such, I don't think this changes the crux of the video, which is: things are changing at Frontier, how could this affect JWE2?
I will cut this quote out of the video, however that might take a while to go into effect as UA-cam processes the edit.
I apologize for including this quote and not properly emphasizing that the quote comes from a third party, not information coming directly from Frontier themselves, as is the case with the quote in the white block before it. I should not have referred to the number later on in the video the way I did, because that misrepresented the estimate as factual.
For the future, I will be more mindful of including such third party quotes and if I do, I will emphasize that they are not as reliable as what Frontier releases in their own statements.

Been dealing with Frontier for a while now a a customer and them not communicating is nothing new. Their OG money maker used to be without question Elite Dangerous. Then they brought out ED: Odyssey. The patch was...bad. They canceled updating the console versions, and I am not going to lie, it(Frontier) has been on the loosing end since. After 2 years they are still patching the Odyssey update. They did this to themselves.

The sad part about any layoff is that is generally the front line staff that is the victim of the layoffs while those in upper management positions remain unaffected or end up with a golden parachute,
What we can hope for is those employees who were victims of the layoffs quickly land on the feet at other companies or pool their severance packages together and start their own successful gaming company.

I agree as frontier made a couple's of mistake that can easily be fixed with communication.
100% understand your opinion. My hope is the game won't suffer too badly from this and may even recover. As to a potential third installment, on that I am far less optimistic. I don't think it make sense to do given that there's no new movies in the near future so far as we know and we know Jurassic World Chaos Theory, their de facto Camp Cretaceous sequel, isn't going to be able to carry the torch for long. I think what makes most sense right now is to hunker down, dig in, and focus on what is working right now, those things being Planet Zoo and JWE2 and possibly Planet Coaster 2. At the risk of being dramatic, the situation is somewhat bleak, but not beyond salvaging. Frontier needs to play their cards right and like in poker, know when to hold and when to fold. They need some wins to pull them out of the financial hellhole they are sinking into.
We need to force them to have Microceratus and kulindadromeus be in the next free update and only in a free update and not a dlc

If I really wanted to "clickbait", as you are accusing me of, I could have titled it something like: "PROOF That JWE2 is DOOMED" or any number of other things I can think up. That would have been dishonest.
As it is, the title is literally just a question, one that is explored in the video.
Everyone draws the line between clickBAIT (deceptive) and clickable (piques curiosity) differently. As someone who's livelihood depends on adrevenue, I do need to make "clickable" titles, but I never purposefully clickbait, because I know it hurts the video, the channel, and my community.
But I remember we've had negative interactions before and you've seemed very quick to assume the worst in people/youtubers/me.
In any case, I think we're just not two people who see eye-to-eye on things.

I won't lie: Frontier (and Universal Studios for that matter as they don't appear to know what to do for the 30th Anniversary of one of their best properties) missed the Decorations DLC and should have made it to include the John Hammond statue and have a paid creature pack alongside QOL Updates, the Lagoon PDLC should have come 3 months afterwards alongside kelp and such while the 2nd anniversary a new attraction like last year and a PDLC for December.
With at least a notice that support will remain (for now) until Summer 2024, we are dangerously close to a potential end of support for the game.
I feel Universal Studios has a lot of hands in what goes in to their best selling game based on the Jurassic franchise recently, and is squandering the opportunity.
I do really hope the Hammond statue is a one-off. Frontier has been really good at listening to fans, and has been doing so for years, but I do worry that will change and the game will end up not being dead, but just kinda stagnating.
Completely agree. Also 2 things to add:
1) They released the teaser trailer for return to jurassic park on 14th November, nearly a month before the release! It was a fantastic way of building hype
2) For the first game the monthly forum posts were really good. For example when there was content drought (in November of the 2nd year) they basically said that they can't reveal what they are working on but they are super excited to share more soon.

I originally thought this sounded like a conspiracy theory but the layoffs are no joke. 50 to 200 people is a staggering amount for a company that’s the size of them.
I do believe that we might get some kind of dlc to at least incorporate the remaining species and things from the movies and the Chaos Theory show. After that, the game will be ‘done’.
Jurassic World as a brand is losing momentum as no new movie will come out in years and a tv show ain’t enough to keep the hype up.
And it’s my final thought that we won’t get a JWE3. The amount of time and resources needed to warrant that is not there. We already saw that JWE2 didn’t meet expectations when it came out in a time period that didn’t have any major Jurassic media release. They won’t have a chance unless there’s still interest in a new film that can carry over to a new game.

Any DLC that were planned, were planned way in advance and they have a contract with Universal. This might cover us for a few more DLC. As discussed in the video, I am more concerned about the free updates and the long-term future of the game.
Initially JWE3 or *years* of continued support for JWE2 seemed like financially sound routes for Frontier. But when you potentially lose a quarter of your people... it seems a lot less viable. I wouldn't write either off 100%, because Universal might have already contracted them for it, in which case Planet Zoo is the game that will take the backseat. But from an outsider perspective, Planet Zoo (and Planet Coaster 2) looks geared to take center stage.
We at least have two docs left in my opinion. They said they have dlc planned for 2024 and we know a dlc is also planned for the next month. So that’s at least two
@@jerrunholt5571 this is an incorrect quote. They have DLC for "Financial Year 2024". That started in June of 2023. The Marine Species pack and the upcoming december DLC already count as "DLC for Financial Year 2024". There is no guarantee that support will continue into calendar year 2024.

With a background in advertising, marketing and graphic design, my experience is: social media gets cuts first, because it's at least one full time job to manage all different accounts, while a social media campaign (which is what you're talking about here) takes a whole team to conceptualize, plan out and design, and against all perception doesn't serve the companies nearly as much as people think. To break it down: To do a good social media campaign costs as much man power as a classic ad campaign, but brings home only a teeny tiny fraction of the conversion an ad campaign would generate. But ad campaigns are costly to distribute, which is why many people think of social media as the holy marketing grail when it really isn't. In most cases it really does not pay off. So to me this is not a surprise at all in the context of downsizing.
What I would like to see for 2 (maybe also as a separate DLC) are the islands from the first part and the old buildings and the old hotel as an extra... Because only Isla Sorna and Nublar as islands is a bit too little for me...
Yeah I was thought it was a little wild that the current hotel holds a thousand people… it’s tiny. The old one was at least bigger. I get it though from a park building standpoint though, nobody wants a giant hotel taking up a decent amount of the map
Well in the movie there only like 4 hotels to account for the 20,000 guests.
Perfectly summarized. Hoping for the best too, and its nice that you emphasized the actual scenario than just a one-sided view like most would do.
The one drawback of putting out clues super early is accidentally guiding the fan base down the wrong hype path. For example, if they were teasing an aquatic creature pack, and a clue early on was misinterpreted as “River cruise confirmed”. And then the leak more clues - but the hype is so great that fans only see River cruise. Frontier then would have to squash that hype in clear terms or face disappointing fans when they release the creature pack. Definitely an obstacle that can be managed, but could be a reason why they fear stoking the hype fires early

We saw it happen back in August too when people misinterpreted the marine teaser as confirming megalodon with how it aligned with the release of Meg 2.

My two cents. And none of this is how I feel about the individuals affected by layoffs, I hope whatever happens, they get nothing but the best.
But onto JWE2… I feel it’s on death’s door. This next DLC very well could be the last. I don’t want it to be but deep down, I truly believe it.
When I saw the Spelling Errors on Frontier’s social media post on Wednesday, I had a bad feeling that something’s up. They never made errors like this before so it felt weird they would let two names being misspelled slide.
Then the Statue came out. While I don’t “hate” the statue, I think it emphasizes another issue but we’ll come back to that in a minute. If you were disappointed in the statue, you have every right to be. It’s only natural to expect something of equal or greater value for the gift, not a massive downgrade. But the issue is how little it seems they listen to the community anymore. If they wanted to give a scenery item instead of highly requested canon animals or attractions, they could’ve given a scenery item or two that the community have been asking for. Let’s say Hypothetically they gave us Benches and/or Trash Bins over the statue, do you think that would’ve gone over better? Personally I believe so because we as a community have been asking for those things for a while now.
But for JWE, any good will Frontier (the corporate entity, not individuals) had with me is gone. (Planet Zoo is fine but we’ll get to that later) and this next DLC really has to wow me and win me back. And frankly, I don’t think it will. At this point, the only thing I want now is the Microceratus and I honestly do not believe it will come to the game anymore.
I get that we can be picky and want a ton and they can’t do it all at once, but when “Jurassic Park”
Content can’t be added to a “Jurassic Park” game over other things, and leaves people begging for canon things, it blows through good will.
It would be fine if they did more like the Prehistoric Marine DLC where the Nothosaurus was added with new things, but that was the one and done thing. Instead of trying to incorporate canon animals in other DLCs, specifically Microceratus, they aren’t even trying.
Frankly, there’s little engagement, making fans feel ignored, and making it seem like doom and gloom for the lifespan of JWE2.
Now I get why they want to invest more in Planet Zoo. Great game, they get more creative control (as in all of it) and they get all the profits. JWE doesn’t.
But JWE is in a bad place right now and it feels like we’re nearing the end.
I really appreciate the hard work done by the people of Frontier. And I only wish the best for everyone effected. As for the future of the game, I hope it continues. But knowing what is going on, if the end is near, I will enjoy it as it is. The lives of families will always be more important to me than a game.
This is starting to remind me of what is happening with Creative Assembly(CA) and the Total War series. CA has also developed a bad reputation of poor communication. The difference is that Frontier is not attacking their critics.
I’m glad you addressed how the layoffs will affect Frontier’s employees. Usually when it comes to situations like this, some “fans” tend to throw shade at most of the devs for not complying or something like that. Other than that, I pretty much agree with everything you said.
The fact that Universal is still taking money from the profits even though the anniversary was a clear proof they don’t have a clue what to do with the franchise is honestly sad and frustrating.

I felt it was very important to emphasize that the real suffering is the people getting laid off. Our game getting only a statue, or maybe only more DLC is peanuts in comparison to what they are going through. I feel horrible for them, for this unfair situation.
@@EvolutionSquare it’s sad how things for the game went from optimistic in late March to complicated nowadays. Since there’s the huge possibility of a video game strike this or next year, it might also affect the development of JWE2 and Frontier.
Although I do hope that if the strike does happen Frontier puts their foot down and actually stands up to Universal’s demands
I feel JWE2 will be safe to a degree, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the variety of content or maybe even quality takes a dip for a short period, I’m currently worried about the future of the F1 manager series given they only obtained the licence in 2022, but Frontier have confirmed that despite the layoffs and cost cuts, F1 Manager 24 will still go ahead and be unaffected. Given that there’s also content coming next year for JWE2, potentially at some point a JWE3, another F1M game and more content for Planet zoo I think Frontier are really going to struggle. I feel for a 30th anniversary celebration the statue has a nice meaning behind it for sentimental value, but in terms of actual gameplay value it’s incredibly lacklustre and I think 99% of people’s reactions were “this is a really weird addition but… alright” and it almost feels like they were scraping the bottom of the barrel with it
One of my main concerns is that we also have yet to see Microceratus in the game, the final movie species 😢
The lack of some obvious features (kelp) in the previous update was a bad sign already.
You can bet that statue was made for the JP30 update and then set aside for the anniversary as they were in trouble already.
They do need to communicate better and I think the following would have done wonders for them:
- Roadmap
- Polls to vote for features / DLC species
- More campaigns giving away prizes like the vivid Stego for JWE1 and more.

As a side note the next (last?) DLC has to include fan favorites like Concavenator and Microceratus. It would be stupid to have anything else.

I don't think they're leaving the game aside, I just think that they're having trouble with the fact that they have relatively way too few employees and that they don't really know what to add first since the community wants quite a lot of different new stuff and yeah, you know..., That takes quite some money and time ( specially the latter since they aren't that much workers )
Hopefully they'll eventually release the bestest content again! Specially since the game already has quite a lot of potential to exploit!
One last thing that would be nice to add before support for the game comes to an end is the river cruise as an attraction, both ‘Park’ and ‘World’ style
Fun Fact for the spelling mistakes: Im german so I have JWE2 on german too but when the game launched Cryolophosaurus was spelled Kryolophosaurus. They fixed it after 2 updates.

I really hope that Frontier fix this mess sooner or later, as I hope they can get their act together and also start communicating with us, the players, start making teasers and cushion our dissapointment as they need to have much better communication with the fanbase in their social media.
I've been thinking about how the Jurassic World IP and Universal license fees affects this game in not so much positive ways in a while, and seeying how great Frontier manages Planet Zoo this just makes me want for them to create an whole new IP in the genera of Prehistoric Wildlife park simulator and i'm almost sure it would be a much better game.
It seems like Frontier is more proud of Planet Zoo than they are of the Jurassic World Evolution Games because the way things are going now, Planet Zoo might outlive both games. When Evolution 1 stopped updating, Planet Zoo thrived! Me personally, I prefer the JWE games over Planet Zoo because Planet Zoo is way too complicated to understand. Even after watching videos on UA-cam I still had no idea what I was doing in that game. JWE & JWE2 are at least a lot simpler to understand and a lot more enjoyable. That's just me though.
I like planet zoo but if they could make the controls like Jurassic World Evolution 1&2 would be good. Planet zoo needs more and i believe if they really focused on planet zoo, it would have been best seller for ever.

I honestly think JWE2 is on its last legs. There is only so much you can add before the fundamental game shows its flaws. Yes JWE2 gets regular content and yes it is a fun game but i find you can only build a new park so many times. I think that JWE2 has fallen into the same pit as the first game did, and that is the lack of engagement when playing. The second game did vastly improve over the first game in this aspect but I don't think its quite enough.
I have also struggled a bit with performance when placing lots of decorations (as i know you have too Evo) even if i play on a One S. I just dont think updates can fix it.
I could also understand making a third game from a financial standpoint, as although they would have to spend loads on development, they would get back loads. Probably everyone who wanted to buy the game has already done it (you can get it 50% off on steam every now and again), and people would fork out €50-€60 for it. As well as that, games like PZ give the studio more creative freedom, and it might even be Universals fault JWE2 has had slightly less content recently (bear in mind the first game had two years of support).
Last thing i wanted to talk about was the current gaming industry as a whole, as i think it should be mantioned. Many gaming studios have had layoffs recently and i hate that it only affects developers. Im not trying to say that CEOs are bloodthirsty dictators, but they make all the decisions good or bad. And (sorry for starting a sentence like that) if the studio is underperforming it wont be the higher ups that lose their jobs. They could direct the worst game possible and likely not lose their Christmas bonus.

They have two new games in development. Getting those games out will be a major priority to get an influx of cash. I still see a few nice packs for JWE2 and Planet Zoo coming prior to the release of their next game. They will not end support for those games before they release their next. Guaranteed. They need even a trickle coming in, in the form of PDLCs
Looking forward to hearing how much more the top brass is going to make this year in their annual bonuses than last year, and how it will be ridiculously more than the annual salaries than those they've laid off.

This is the most in-depth I've seen anyone cover the layoffs and how it could affect this game, most of the time the response is rather vague which made me not think too much about it. I don't think this is the end however because we know that Chaos Theory releases next year, a series that Universal likely wants Frontier to release content for before the game's lifecycle ends. It's not a guarantee since Camp Cretaceous content was never released for the first game but I think that stems from how that game's development was cut short for this sequel. I think 2023 has just been a bad year with the comparative lack of Jurassic Park content: 2021 had the prologue and three seasons of Camp Cretaceous, 2022 had Jurassic World Dominion and the end of Camp Cretaceous while next year will have Chaos Theory. The 30th anniversary seems like it forced Frontier's hand to release content exclusively for the first film, which meant no paid DLC or new creatures because there was little left from Jurassic Park itself. I think next year will give the game a slight bump but not nearly to the same extent of Dominion's release since I've seen the popularity of Camp Cretaceous plummet over the years (Chaos Theory could restore the goodwill the first season of that show had but we'll have to wait and see). I also think that the remaining Camp Cretaceous content such as Tarbosaurus and Little Eatie could end up bundled with a Chaos Theory DLC instead like how the Dominion expansions mixed up the relevant species and cosmetics.
As an aside, I hope your bunny gets well soon. Pets can be extremely difficult to take care of, my cat passed away from old age two years ago with no warning at all because he hid his symptoms.
I don't think Chaos Theory is a guarantee for new JWE2 content, especially considering how the layoffs fundamentally change Frontier and we don't know when it will release. It could be the very end of 2024; that would be a long stretch for Frontier to drag JWE2 along for. Another factor being: Universal frequently flubs how to handle franchise.
That being said, it is possible that there will be CT-based content, but only JWE2 is viable for Frontier anyway.

A developer of a certain genre bring locked into a contract with a certain IP is always doomed.
Planet Zoo and Planet Coaster are Frontiers IP so they can do what they want with that.
But the JP brand has been holding them back creatively, if they brought out a dinosaur based game with the Planet Zoo engine, it would have been a lot easier for them to make changes.
Evo it’s such a joy to have your videos come back on the normal! I do agree with many of the feedback, however something to note. If the company sadly has done staffing cuts, the one thing they are going to focus on is their main “cost” which ironically is time. Time spent vs. time elapsing is working against them so I’m sure the management is focusing the rest of their team on the future game and a little on the last DLC. My hypothesis is this, the last DLC will be a content dump which is why they are not going to include much of any free updates when they could be gaining on revenue from time spent, so the last DLC is going to have a lot of content. However, it could go both ways. Depending on how intense the staffing loss was, they may just be doing one more “Dino” pack, with some nice additions, and then focusing on their main project where they can utilize their team the most. A lot of companies don't even update 2 year old games with bug fixes let alone new free content. While I can understand how people who have followed both games since the original launched might have expected more, purely based on Frontier's history with these titles, and thus feel underwhelmed by the simple statue (in truth I felt the same). To actually expect anything amazing is really just self entitlement IMO.
Given Frontier's financial situation I wouldn't have been surprised if they gave us absolutely nothing at all and just focused on any contractual agreements for future content they might have. When I first saw your video of the statue I was underwhelmed, but at the time I had no idea Frontier were struggling in retrospect it makes more sense now and I've gone from feeling it was a bit lame to being surprised they gave us anything at all.
Personally, I don’t understand why people so casually draw a bridge between “expectation” and “entitlement”, treating them as synonyms, when they aren’t the same thing.
If I say: “2 2 2 2 _” What would you expect the fifth number to be? You’d expect 2. Because you’re just going off a pattern. However, you’re not entitled to a 2. If the fifth number is 7, that isn’t wrong. You can’t demand another 2.
Idk, I don’t think it’s fair to accuse people of being “entitled” just for applying logic. Of course there is a subsection of people who expected a gift, who feel wronged/cheated for not getting that and yeah that’s where the entitlement comes in, but that’s not everyone who had expectations.

I think it might be due to Frontier focusing on 1 game. Which might not make sense but I’m looking at is a constant follow of cash, like just the licensing fee itself, that’s why I think Frontier is in a ruff spot, just mainly needing to have a flow of profits because of the license fee of the Jurassic World license. Honestly I’d love to see a Zoo tycoon kind of game but mainly similar mechanics to both Jurassic World: Evolution 1 & 2 but for consules. Because honestly there’s not a lot of Zoo games on PlayStation or on consules really. And I’d want to see a Jurassic World Evolution game but with Modern day animals. I think the future of frontier with the budget constraints is possibly lower budgeted games, meaning possibly no Jurassic World: Evolution 3 for the future.
But there are so many potential dinosaurs and digsites Frontier should to add to the game!

Here's how I see it. They know the layoffs are coming and they have limited time to make this next dlc, so instead of putting effort and resources onto something as simple as a free gift they but all their effort into the next DLC while they can so they can make it the best as they can.
Great video, Evo, I agree with everything you say, and honestly, I'm just happy to know that the developers and Frontier are trying to stabilize things to the best of their efforts. I never doubted them.
Personally I feel that the game may continue until Christmas, or maybe one dlc after, but then I feel that they will jwe1 us. The thought of that makes me really sad as I have really enjoyed this game, but as you said, maybe the Hammond statue is just a one-off thing and all of this is just a coincidence. But I feel like if they don’t give us good content anymore they may be losing a frequent player.
Hoping for Jwe2 to continue on for many years to come though.
I'd quite like a "decorations," DLC. But also I'm not sure if anyone has discussed this yet, but specifically, an added "Trees," DLC/Update would be amazing!
I would as well, but considering people were quite miffed with the JP anniversary update being just decorations, I think a significant chunk of the community wouldn't be interested. A lot of people don't really decorate their parks - even on my channel it's a common sentiment.
Unpopular opinion and the reason I think this game is not making a lot of profit, aside from the economy: the game isn't just not that great at it's core and the company doesn't have great marketing strategy. I've played hundreds of games and i consider myself a fan of these kind of world-building theme parc games. I think it's a good game but not good enough to keep the players "hooked". They should've done a lot more to keep the players interested. They could've added a very addictive gene manipulation element where you can build your own hybrid using DNA from different species, which you have to collect first and added a "luck" or random element to it. Then, each of those rare dinosaurs should get its own rating so it'll me much more interesting to build a unique dinosaur, instead of just building another T-Rex or indominus enclosure. Furthermore they should've made it more complicated when it comes to the logistics of everything. That routes to and trough the enclosures and making profits of the shops. Lastly (but I can go on for a while) they should've had a better strategy when it comes to DLC. Bigger packs and more content. Perhaps a little less free stuff. I gladly pay some money if the content is appealing enough. This is not me hating on the game, just my two cents.

Unfortunately, Frontier actually has a bit of a history with going completely radio silent about a flagship game of theirs with Elite Dangerous.
It happened much in the same way there where fans and internet personalities alike asked that Frontier would simply communicate and then several low effort releases led them down the path where it's more or less on life-support.
Ironically, according to most Elite Dangerous players, Jurassic World Evolution 2 is considered the golden child for Frontier, so a move like this isn't exactly new.
However, I sincerely hope this isn't the case as JWE2 is such an amazing game that has a wealth of potential.

The thing that annoys me is that, the statue Is something that could have and should have been in the base game, it’s really nothing special at all & the size is also a bit insulting. They really could have added a few “iconic” things like an amber statue or something.
I think Prehistoric Kingdom is starting to truly close JWE gaps and take over in a number of areas

Your thoughts on releasing quality, good content on social media, breadcrumbs to excite the player community, reminds me of how Simon Masrani began teasing the opening of Jurassic World, that is detailed in The Evolution of Claire. Now while this game is not an actual park filled with dinosaurs, it can generate hype and excitement in a way only those of us who love this game can appreciate it.
Frontier could've at least added some skins to go along with the statue maybe a couple lux skins and/or feather skins For some of the dinosaurs , h311 they could take the tylosaurus , troodon , and Herrerasaurus from telltales Jurassic Park the game and turn them into skins for the tylosaurus , troodon , and Herrerasaurus in JWE2 .
Someone (fairly) pointed out that maybe Frontier just REALLY wanted to give us the Hammond statue for the anniversary. But if it was just a case of "they wanted to" and not "they had to because of budget cuts", I believe there would have been more than just the statue. Like pairing it with some skins, like you said.
I agree communication is very important and Frontier has not been good about it. Was I a little disappointed about the statue...yea but I'm still a big fan, whatever the next DLC is whether it's the last one or not I'm still gonna buy it.

My heart does go out to Frontier. They all clearly love what they do and its likely having to lay off even 50 of their team has to be a gut wrecher. It probably leaves things in a confused state. Current projects. Upcoming projects. DLC. All of that is likely to be off set by this so who knows how difficult it is to continue the progress you had with a smaller team.
I don't necessarily believe the Hammond Statue was their original idea for the anniversary. However given they probably have to run ideas by Universal for approval. Its possible that Jammond.....Jammond?....er Hammond was the quickest thing they could get approved by em.
I don't think JWE2 is gonna be left fully by the wayside. With Chaos Theory arriving next year and a presumable new film probably in the works there's definitely a lot of life in the series that keeps attention on the game and the franchise as a whole.
However it wouldn't shock me if it maybe slows. Possibly more time will be needed to model any new dinos. But honestly I'd take a slower work time then outright abandonment.

They could do something as simple as adding the missing content from jwe1 much like the missing Islands in the archipelago with new sandbox maps and new challenge mode maps, the hybrids and the paleobotony aspect from the 2 dlcs that came with it
Would give new maps and challenges to tide us over for a while until they can put in new content again if they're having to dial back a bit over the next year

you have to place down one section of monorail track first (the first stretch is always straight). After that the end of the track follows your cursor and curves the track.

A lot of the time its not that the companies 'need' the profits. Even proftable games companies are forcing massive lay offs. A lot of the time its used to artifically make a company look better to stock holders and investors...which makes the whole thing even worse really.
I also feel very bad for the employees losing their jobs. It such an unfair situation. And right now, they are all dealing with the uncertainty: "am I going to be one of the "redundant" workers?" It's horrible. The company I worked for before doing YT fulltime, also downsized and I saw this happen to a lot of colleagues. It's heartbreaking in a way younger fans of the game really can't understand.
My first thought was that maybe this is like a coastal wave where the water rolls back (statue) and then a big wave rolls in (even bigger than ever dlc)
The game can't die because there's a lot more that can be added, and it's not just new dinosaurs! They can add better terrain creation tools, so you can literally make cliffs that dinosaurs can fall off of (eg if a carnivore is chasing a herbivore, the herbivore jumps off the cliff in panic, and the carnivore only follows if it's very hungry)... They may add better water crafting tools, deep water, shallow water and waterfalls! They can also add marsh plants: water lily, sedge! Much larger pieces of stone that do not have a place box should be added! The restriction of place box should be removed from all decorative things, including natural and man-made ones! Of course, a lot more decor for the park! They can add a lot more fun attractions for the park (water slides, slides, amusement park attractions... etc...) They can also add that the guests finally start using those umbrellas and tables! There are tons more things that can be added and it's in their budget!! Of course, nests and babies should definitely be added... Along with babies, of course, a nursing home is also needed! And many more dinosaurs, I wouldn't object to prehistoric mammals either!! They can go outside of the Jurassic Park franchise!! Planet Zoo is a good example of some of the ideas you could copy but in a prehistoric way! Basically I don't think the game is dead and I don't believe it's coming to an end anytime soon!
"can't die" is wrong though. We don't want it die because there is so much more they could do, but that's not a guarantee of anything. Things die all the time in spite of their potential.

I wasn't a fan. The management too micromanagement and the customization too overwhelming (a "problem" that makes Prehistoric Kingdom difficult for me to play as well)
Same Evo I hope these employees will be ok, these layoffs came out of nowhere. I hope Evolution 2 sticks around for awhile, I know Frontier wanted to support the game throughout next year. But those plans may have changed unfortunately.
I hope they expand lagoons with folliaye or More decorations we still need kelp forest AND new decorations with smaller hit boxes like why i cant put the log in water when i want to creaste a swamp😢
One DLC that i tink it was gonna become a suckses is if they donne a DLC that add the maps from the first game in chalenge and sandbox, but i tink that is better in a free update, but make a DLC whit a history of make a park wiht creatures after the dinossaurs like Silodon's and Mammoths, and a DLC wiht the same idea but wiht cratures before dinossaur we already have one the dimetrodon.
This game is a masterpiece, but it is mostly Universals fault that it is charging so much, If they charged less it would be great
I mean they just announced more DLC. But even if more dosen't come out for the game I am really happy with it as its pretty much what I wanted.
The only thing Id like to fix is the management aspect of the game but that is an issue that plagues all their games. And what I mean is that they are entirely too easy, very little depth required, a lot of it is just "plonk down resturants, shelters, and make sure all the sliders are happy faces for amenities".
But as a spiritual successor to Operation Genesis I am really thrilled with it.

Problem is at 1:24 you quote someone saying "50 - 200 workers will be made redundant by Christmas"
1. The consultation runs until January, so no one will be made redundant by Christmas under "this plan".
2. No scope for the consultation has been made publicly available, so there is no clue as to how many employees are even part of the process, or what departments they are in. Certainly not enough information to say there's going to be massive lay-offs.
That spread of misinformation is not helpful to current staff's stress level. But Frontier's communication strategy hasn't changed since 2014, it's been consistently tight-lipped through all of the games they've released. I really don't think that's ever going to change.
If the information available online is false, then I am sorry for sharing it, but this is the information available and all I had to go off.

A lot of companies are lacking communication these days
It may be that they make a smaller profit per unit on JWE2 than they do on Planet Zoo but on the other hand if JWE2 sells more overall then it is still worth it for them. The flip side of having to pay licensing fees is that you get the brand recognition that comes with Jurassic Park/World. I could see them maybe giving the smaller anniversary gift this close to the anticipated December update so that the main update in December remains the big deal. If they gave microceratus now, which was such a heavily asked for dino, then it may take some of the shine off the December update.
Universal benefits from this game, I wouldn’t be surprised if they allow Frontier to take a slightly bigger cut to keep the long term money train going. I’m still hoping that this game is going to have a decently long lifespan.
@EvolutionSquare , I just watched your video and I agree 100% I've been with Jurassic Park to Jurassic World since the beginning. I loved Evolution 1 and still play Evolution 2 here and there. Whenever there has been something new, i've always played the game to have a look at it. I didn't with the statue. Communication is the key! Even with the statue if Frontier said something like here is the statue and a sneak peak of the upcoming DLC that would have got people talking as you mentioned. I don't want a Evolution 3 unless there is major and I mean major updates. The game we have now is good, really good! If they wanted to make more money bring in animals of the pre and post Dinosaur era's which they sort of have, but i mean major scale for example. It all depends on Universal if they let Frontier go wild or not?

The beginning of December or whenever the dlc comes out will be the real indicator of what they will do. If the update is another let down I think then we should be worried, for now I don’t think one update being just a statue is enough to get worried
For dlc we now they have at least one planned for 2024 (saying they have dlc planned for 2024) and the one we all know is planned for the next month. That’s at least two, so the game will at least be getting some content for the next poke 5 or 6 months
I want to clarify that I am not "worried just because of the statue". I'm worried because Frontier is laying off a significant amount of its workforce, no company can do that without consequence to their output.

I think if the next dlc is consisting of major fan favorites then we can also indicate maybe that’s then giving the community the things they want before slowly shutting down updates for the game
Honestly when I looked up the anniversary update on Thursday and saw the statue my heart dropped and I was more than disappointed.I mean at least we got something but god it could’ve been the Microceratus

Two things i personally feel they could do with there games. One add a charity option. Add the ability for people to donate money to the games. This alone wont compeltely fix there issues but it might help with the quality of life eith the games. Second and probably rhe kore controversial add more paid content. Even small stuff. Have one or two people at frontier specifically there to desighn single decorative options. Lets take the john statue imagine it wasnt the anniversary and they sold it for maybe 50/99 pence-1 dollar. I feel if they had lots of single decorative items for around 1 pound/dollar and then a pack where you could buy all of them together for a slightly cheaper price than buying them all seperste would generate them a fair anount of money which could slow there loss in money. I personally wouldnt be opposed to spending a little extra money if it helped frontier keep going.
The section about communication could make for an hours-long video - and not just about Frontier. This entire franchise is stricken with a seemingly total inability to just tell people what’s going on. I can’t bring myself to care much longer.

Honestly with a new Netflix series coming out I honestly doubt that universal would allow the game to “die”
That being said though I don’t see the Hammond Statue as a reason to see it going away. I think for a free gift the statue was fine, I was disappointed, but I don’t think it shows the game is almost gone in anyway even with what us coming. I think missing species and terrain options for the lagoons and attractions are going to be in a DLC.
I have two theories, technically they said through out the fiscal year of (was it 24?) which goes from June to June. Either December will be the last DLC OR we will get a total of 3 more, I think Christmas will be some sort of big DLC though I am unsure of what, maybe novel? Or using Mazy to unlock other hybrids with doctor wu to take care of the locust swarm, and that’s how they get us the hybrids back.
THIS ALSO would be a great way to bring the Microceratus into the game. Because Charlotte Lockwood in her first video is petting one. So they could use that dinosaur as a key star for the story of that DLC.
Now either we go out with a bang in December or the DLC I just described comes out, we get maybe one more dinosaur pack? Personally I would love a Triassic one since we never get a Triassic Pack.
Then the final DLC for fiscal year 24 would be one for the new show Chaos Theory, which they could also use to give the rest of the camp Cretaceous skins, honestly at this point I would say you could just make the Tarbo a skin for the TRex instead of making it a whole new dinosaur, this would be a cost effective way to do that as well.
While the big corporate guys making the the cuts might want to cut the game, between JP30 a new Netflix show possibly other movies, I don’t think they will let the game go until the New Netflix series is out, at the very least.
I don’t think this is something that totally means we will get all of these things, but I think it’s something that should be considered. Clearly universal is still putting out content, and therefore I’d say they’d absolutely want fans who have loved these games and absolutely shown that there is money to be made, would allow frontier to axe the game especially with a new series that has had a teaser trailer dropped that seems off to me.
