Brandon Sanderson is apologetic to people for adding an extra 90k words to his book.... I'm at a loss for how insane the concept of accidentally adding 90k words to a project is to me. Hopefully its all in one chapter called "the final battle" and its just The Lopen breakdance fighting with the champion of Odium on a soulcast, flattened cardboard box while all the rest of the shards act as judges...

The absolute anticipation and dread I have for this book is in equal portion. These books and characters have been with me through so much and their growth echoed my own and highlighted places of growth. Thank you for all you do and for sharing your imagination with the world.

Some fun maths: given the word counts for Stormlight 1 through 5, if Brandon would've continued this trend (and not cut back for Stormlight 6) then Stormlight 10 would be around 620000 words. The tome itself would then be in the ballpark of 1600 pages, so even if split in two volumes, that's still two 800 page chonkers.
I was full on expecting "im tired of Stormlight and therefore I'll be taking a break for 6 months" ... and then he launches into his plans for the rest of the year. Sanderson just doesn't take breaks! 🤣

Thank you for your dedication. I began like you (we are the same age), loving being told stories. My dad read me The Hobbit and the LotR as a 4 year old boy. Those were our fathers passions... what made their imaginations run wild. The same things they wanted for all of us. As much as I love those stories to the core of my soul, I've always felt like it wasn't TRULY ours. It was theirs, and that was great because what kid doesn't want to be passionate about what captivated their father as a youth? Stormlight (and all of the Cosmere) feels like something I can pass on to my children, and watch the light fill their eyes in wonder. So again... thank you for giving me this opportunity.
Last year I got halfway through Oathbringer and got overwhelmed by all the lore on lore on lore. I’m starting over from book 1 now, giving it another shot. I’ve given up on George Martin, I’m at the point now where I just don’t care as much about the winds of winter. You, on the other hand, are actually writing the books. Cheers!

Just make sure after way of kings you read warbreaker, and after words of radiance you read edgedancer! I wish I could go back do that! Not super important, but there’s alotta connections to be made there.
If you don’t like slow buildups (and I mean very, very, very slow buildups) then you might have a difficult time reading The Way of Kings. I like it, but man is it annoying to read at times. If that’s you too, then my advice would be to take a break from it and come back to it later. That’s what I had to do. Several months ago I put it down because I just couldn’t take the slowness of it anymore. I picked it back up yesterday and have been reading it with a renewed vigor. Hopefully I finish it on this attempt.

You just gotta remember, it’s the 1st book of a 10 part series, so a lot of it is character/world building, but the last few hundred pages of the book are SOOO worth it. You just gotta grind your way through. I think when I first read it, I read approximately 75-100 pages a day, and it was a great source of entertainment for 2 weeks.
I am super stoked for Wind and Truth!!!! But also didn’t realize he’d be starting on Mistborn era 3 so soon!! I just finished era2 a week ago and assumed it was time to settle in for a long wait before he’d get back to era 3 but apparently not!!!!

Hey... you say you're a dark fantasy author... I have a question, then. What defines something as dark fantasy? I'm trying to classify some stories and I'm having trouble figuring out if they're dark enough to call them actual dark fantasy.
@@ceinwenchandler4716 Generally, I usually think if a fantasy focuses more on suspense, thriller or horror, it's a dark fantasy to me. :) The Name of the Wind is both a fantasy and a dark fantasy for this reason, for example. There are 5 specific elements that are often present in a dark fantasy & I've done a video called "What is DARK FANTASY? [...]" that goes into these 5 elements in detail. 😊💙📚 A pure dark fantasy can be a bit tricky to pin down, since many stories don't go out to "become" a dark fantasy, they just end up being so. I often see fantasy stories that have 1-2 of these 5 dark fantasy elements in them, which would make them "fantasy with dark fantasy elements" :) And if they have 3-5, I'd definitely classify them as "purer dark fantasy". :)

How many napkins to fit almost half a million words? I can imagine them all in a pile and having to figure out which order they go in before being able to read it...
Once I finish mistborn im reading stormlight archives, the last series I read that was ten books they were all at least 1000 pages and so at the end I didn’t know what to do cause I felt so lost, unfortunately that author has not finished that series yet and I’m still waiting (5 years now) for the next book without any updates so thank you Brandon for regularly updating fans

@@ninakrishnamurthy6674 it is fantastic, and safehold is really good too, they both are sci fi. Safehold has almost a sci-fi fantasy mix feel to it. During both series I laughed, cried, got super excited, mad. I felt the whole range of emotions. Weber’s pacing is slow in some opinions but a lot of his stuff is move, countermove kinda story telling. He writes like life moves with things taking time to happen
I went from a maybe checking out the stormlight rpg kickstarter to definitely as soon as Brandon mentioned it goes live on my birthday - it's a sign!! Also, Brandon, do you ever take a break? You deserve one.

I hope you post some more Elden Ring videos! It is so strange and unbelievable to watch someone as busy as you playing Dark Souls games...and in a very masochist way no less (level capping + melee glass cannon builds). Excellent commentary on the boss designs and experiences too.

Way of Kings didn't have the interludes between parts 4 and 5, however. I don't think Sanderson can stop himself from doing all twelve interludes for book 6. I'm hyped for the revised White Sand prose edition!

Also, I've been playing League of Legends since release practically on and off, and watching the LCS "their pro league" since the beginning when Reginald led TSM as their mid laner. You have to play to truly appreciate watching imo, though.

During both series I laughed, cried, got super excited, mad. I felt the whole range of emotions. Weber’s pacing is slow in some opinions but a lot of his stuff is move, countermove kinda story telling. He writes like life moves with things taking time to happen
