How to find affordable rentals homes or even wanting to purchase in Laos? DO NOT SEARCH ONLINE! Many do and are confronted with extremely high prices compared to what the landlord or seller is wanting. Your best bet is driving around the area you're interested in and looking for phone numbers on fences/properties. It is the way most Lao rent homes or sell land. Very few use brokers. Another way to search for rentals is to join some Laos expat pages and ask there. Many Lao watch these pages for foreigners wanting accommodation. Remember.. the first price is always a starting point. Negotiate!

I think that Savannaket would be a good place for a westerner to live. There is a Thai immigration office where you can get Thai visas (5,000 baht for a 6-month multi-entry visa). Your rental price is very reasonable and it would cost a lot more in Vientiane.

Living in Laos is so affordable but it’s Freddy that inside the city it’s the same price as Bangkok…it’s ridiculous when you think about it.
We currently are renovating a house in Vientiane and it cost 2k to do about 12k worth of work. Our neighbors built on their land a whole new house for $20k. Hopefully our channel can inspire people to go back home and live/build

Harriet and I will pass this info on to some people that might be interested. in our Lao community here in Richmond. Harriet and I have some property in my family that's in Castelo Branco,
Portugal that we want to sell as well. We have been doing upgrades on the house. When we come to Lao if Neenee's house is not sold we would love to rent it. Savannakhet looks very inviting. We wish you both whatever you decide to do. It's great value and very affordable. All the best Todd 👍 from Jim and Harriet

I love this town. Spent a week there with my buddy who was a long time resident. Fantastic vibe amongst the place and the people are warm and welcoming.
Cant wait to go back and explore more. The province is great.
Oh, and i had to court for about a year or so. Very slow. Like something fron the Georgian days.. If you can manage the wait, you'll get a pearl or a sapphire, but if you rush it and choose wrong, you'll end up with pebble or a stone that you want to throw away. Paitence is key. 11:25

True story: I was looking to rent a house in the Indonesian countryside in 2008. My wife called about this house and she told me they said $100. I said $100 a month is fine. She said no. It's $100 for the YEAR! 😮😮😂😂 To be fair, I guess the people thought that whole area where these houses were was haunted? I don't know if it's really true but they said the Japanese had massacred a bunch of people there in WW2.

Also have to apologise as great minds think a like my YT channel name was until yesterday almost the same as yours so I changed it. My first question if you could help is about business opening times as so many restaurants and cafe places seem to open and close when ever they feel like it and has something happened or changed here as many prime locations seem to have closed all together. 2nd what is the feeling towards the French history in Savannkhet? I ask as I looked on Google at places to see and a place by the river called the Deer House came up as a historical building yet when I went to have a look it's just about fallen down with the roof missing and it has no information signs about it's history.
