Since you asked... I set up a cheap external fuel pump to run on an M12 battery for occasions when I need to transfer fuel or even when I want to try out a complete auxiliary fuel system to bypass what's on the car. It has been _fantastic._

Doug! there's a fuel filter built into the bottom inlet side of that 044 fuel pump if you look inside the bottom port you will see it will be plugged too!
That's why you didn't see anything in your fuel filter
I totally get having too many vehicles/projects

It wasn't a hinge. It was the hood striker/lock. The hinge is at the other end of the hood!

When running fuel cells with foam in them, I've always ran a filter between the tank and pump, and a secondary filter between the pump and fuel rail.
People say it's overkill, but I've never had problems like this either.
Now that was an episode! You did it!
Maybe old but usually some parts were not made to get the Ethanol / alcohol that is mixed into fuel these days !

It's probably not puton well because of all the foam bits that went into the motor. This is very bad for u'r silinder and can cause wear. Blow out u'r motor to get stuff all out, if no working use more air and itl come. You always do good job tho Doug thanks. I hope I helped love you

All those in-line fuel pumps seem to be very hit or miss as far as reliability goes. When I did my little ranger, I modified my fuel cell by drilling a 4” hole, and I made some aluminum rings and drilled holes similar to how the gas cap on the fuel cell is mounted… but I used the rings and some home made gaskets to “sandwich” mount a stock drop in fuel pump with the sender unit and all so my factory gauge and everything worked mint. It would probably wouldn’t hurt have the injectors cleaned and flow tested. They clog very easily.
Definitely clogged pump, filter and injectors. If you dont clean or replace the injectors, the engine can run lean and get too hot

That's all what's left of the bad gas that took out the old fuel pump, Doug. I bet the combo of the 30 year old foam and the bad gas is all it is.
